I never ever thought I would be visibley shaken at what I read on here.
Done with this totally#JusticeForGrenfell0 -
toniq, don't be upset. Sometimes things come across wrong when read on screen.
I don't think anybody thinks you are in the wrong. You are just trying to be helpful. It is all just a bunch of opinions. (((HUGS)))

To be honest, I loved the way the daily mags have been posted over the past few months and I have appreciated the help of the regular posters. I am sorry to see it go!:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea0

5) We could stick (no pun intended) with the stickied thread, as it is was until yesterday, ie the mag comps get posted there only. And then, one designated poster posts one thread per day on the main board, highlighting any new prizes.
This is a brilliant suggestion that surely covers the best of both worlds, and requires only one extra person to make one post per day (if the kind folk whio have done the mags up to now can be persuded to continue).
There is a very real issue as to who will do all the additional posting if every mag comp has to go on the main board. If no one is willing to take this on, we need to look at workable alternatives. I think that this is it.
Having given this a full extra 30 seconds thought, I don't mind doing this "what's new" post every day, but would appreciate one or two back ups for days I know I wont be online.0 -
Wasn't going to post but thought I would voice my opinion.
I think the way it was is great, all the mags in 1 place and not clogging up the main board, with advents coming do we really want the 780+ comps on the main board as there will be too many for people to go through.
But I think what Toniq did was a good idea, I mean if it's a biggie prize posting on the main board and linking to the mag sticky thingy seems like a good compromise?? Surely that isn;t a bad thing, it highlights the mag sticky and more people might start using it.Think it's about time the comping fairy remembered where I am! lol0 -
Before I say anything I'd just like to thank all the posters of the mag comps and cornish for all her hard work on the thread.
I preferred the old method of posting on the main board but after seeing that there are now so many mags to cover I can totally see how much work that would entail, but I do hate the new method.
Wouldn't a good compromise be to give each mag a single thread on the main board much like the puzzler/tab threads?
They work perfectly well and suit both style of comper and it would mean new comps are just added to the end of each thread.
It's just another idea to add to the mix and no offence is intended to the mag posters at all, as I said they do a fantastic job
Edit: And if one person keeps a single thread to update, the expired comps can even be deleted so there's less to go throughA strong man stands up for himself, a stronger man stands up for others.0 -
I've thought of a new suggestion.
5) We could stick (no pun intended) with the stickied thread, as it is was until yesterday, ie the mag comps get posted there only. And then, one designated poster posts one thread per day on the main board, highlighting any new prizes.
eg
E: 01/12 Mag comp prizes inc. £1000!
New mag prizes (linky) today include:
A whopping £1000
A blu-ray player
£100 shopping vouchers
etc, etc
Plus don't forget to check out the click-to-wins!
Each prize is only mentioned once, not per mag, and a linky is included in the post to the first page of the sticky thread which has all the details (the first page of the thread on which today's comps are posted). End dates aren't included in the post, to keep things simple (they are on the sticky), and the end date of the comp could be the date of the earliest of the new comps closing dates. Thread title stays similar so people can recognise what it is, drawing attention to one or two of the newest prizes up for grabs.
+ Main board doesn't get clogged up. Sticky still exists for those that use it daily. New post daily on the main board draws attention to the sticky every day, so no-one misses out
- Someone has to take on the daily post (but this is less work that each comp being posted individually)
Great idea! :T
Maybe there is someone who supports the 'opposing' side (ie those who wanted the dailies to be more visible on the main board) would like to volunteer as the daily poster? That would be a nice, friendly compromise between the two groups and get people working together not against each other=^._.^= You will always be lucky if you know how to make friends with strange cats =^._.^=0 -

As I said above, I would be happy to do this.0 -

I do*, it's one thing to post opinion in chat corner quite another to deliberately post duplicates on the main comp board and arbitrarily decide what should be posted where because they don't agree with the way it is being done.
Everybody who uses the main board will have seen the sticky threads and it is their choice if they can be bothered to read them or not.
Now that the supposed "big prize" post has so many thanks there is no reason for more to be posted as all those people have no reason whatsoever not to use the proper thread now (not that they had any reason anyway as it not a thread you have to log in to see or need a password to access).
(*That's think she is wrong not an opinion on good or badness)0 -
i liked the dailys being on one thread. the daily's just clog up the board.i dont enter all comps but with these being on the main board it just adds time i don't have on to my comping day. it was working so well so why change it ?0
