Daily Mags - what is happening?

Does this now mean all the mags will be posted on the main board?
For me personally this will be an absolute nightmare as I do not do any of the mag comps (personal choice) due to the limited number of time I have available to comp in an evening.
I really do not relish having to wade through all those extra pages.
I realise we all comp differently but for me this is not goodThe best things in life are free.....0 -
Wouldn't a viable solution be to keep the mag thread the way it is, and then appoint someone else to 'flag' the bigger prizes as additional posts on the main board? Someone other than CP so she doesn't have additional work?
A subjective process I know in terms of deciding what is sizeable enough, but it would negate cluttering up the main board with every mag comp (and every variant across the different mags).
I think I proposed something similar a few days ago. While I still think that it has merit, I can't help feeling that sonner or later we would end up having another debate because a particular comp had not been linked to the main board and others felt that it was big.
There is just no easy way to draw the line: For example, £1000 cash - big, £1000 Tesco vouchers - big, £1000 of diving gear - big for divers, but big enough to put on the main board?
A main board thread for each mag daily as well as a list on the sticky avoids any discussion of this type. let's have the best of both worlds!0 -
I seem to remember that the Mag daily thread was introduced because the magazines changed tack and decided to run individual comps across nearly all the magazines at once, the competition board became over-run with comps posted multiple times for each mag.
It was chaotic for a time0 -

This will be an issue. However, we all skip different types of comps on the main board. As long as the mag dailies are clearly marked as such in the title of their thread on the main board, it should be quite quick to avoid them without having to open the thread in the same way that you can skip twitter or FB now. I am sometimes quite glad to find a page full of comps that I can instantly see that I won't be entering - makes the constant catch up quicker!0 -
I do miss out on the good mag comps with them not getting posted on the main board so thankfully Toni prodded me and hopefully they will stick these
1) Daillies
2) Rafflecopters
3) Mags
on there own sticky it drives me mad with all the rafflecopters you have to skip they certainly don't need to be on the main board that would help a hell of a lot of people. I'm 100% behind what ever Toniq say's she knows what she is on about and is always trying to help people xxxThanks all the posters xxxx Be lucky xxxx0 -
I think the proposal is that all comps, rafflecopters included, each have their own thread on the main board. There are then 3 stickies each with lists of direct links to comps that can be entered daily. Or have I got that wrong?0

First of all Toniq I apologise, I was not intending to have a go at you, its just that I have a different opinion, I don't believe that you can compare the number of thanks on the thread on the main board to the daily thanks. I myself don't thank on the mag daily thread even though I use it everyday and yet I always thank everything I enter on the main board.
I understand that we all have different opinions on how these comps should be posted so perhaps someone(who is better at these things than me) should do a poll with the different options and we should all agree to be democratic and abide by the results.
I do think though that first and foremost the views of the posters of the daily threads should be taken into account as they are the ones doing all the hard work.0 -
First thanks to everyone who has contributed to the magazine dailies thread - esp. to Cornish and thanks to those who have raised the issue that it may not work for everyone (people don't say people don't know).
Right my view for what they are worth (and I fully admit what suits my way of comping). I really don't like the idea of certain magazine comps been highlighted on the main board - this is way too subjective and too confusing for some to be put on and some not.
I personally like the magazine dailies thread as it is and works for me (usually I only enter the daily magazine comps once and only ever entered them once when they were on the main board - now sometimes I enter more than once if I have a bit of free time as they are all together and I can just pop in) - I tend to have a look at the end of the thread and thank the post so I know which ones I've seen. To be quite honest I don't know why people have an issue with the magazine thread [I know everyone has a different way of working and everyone's opinions are valid but I just can't see it - the comps are all there and not hidden].
However, there is obviously quite a few people that don't like it. So having the comps posted on the main board and then a separate thread for in the regulars for the magazine dailies does seem like a good solution (and would work for my way of comping).
What I will say is that one of the reasons the magazine thread started was because of the time it was taking to post the comps and then put a link on the dailies thread - then for the front page to be updated (essentially the thread cut out this 1st step) and since the magazine thread started there have been a few more sites added. So we still have this problem.
I'm probably going to get shouted at for this but I do wander if the people who are calling for the comps to be returned to the main board are aware of the time and effort these comps take to post and would be willing to take on some of this responsibility to make sure all the comps are posted on the main board?0 -
Would it be a good idea to have a poll on the various options which have been put forward? We're never going to please everybody, but it would make sense to go with a majority decision, surely?
I've seen several suggestions posted, and have included the main pros and cons I can think of for each:
1) Each comp posted separately on the main board. Linked in the (one) dailies thread.
+ No-one can miss any of them
- Board gets clogged with repeated comps (eg 56 new mag comps were posted on Tuesday). Poster who updates dailies sticky has increased workload.
2) All comps posted in one thread only which is stickied on the main board (the system until last night)
+ Main board is kept from getting too epic
- If people don't check the thread regularly, they could miss out
3) Each comp posted separately on the main board and then linked on a stickied thread for mag comps instead of on main dailies thread (possibly a separate sticky also introduced for rafflecopters)
+ No-one can miss out. Those who want to do all the mags daily have them in one place. Updating stickies is shared between 2 or 3 people.
- Board gets lots of additional threads with repeated prizes
4) All comps posted in one thread only which is stickied on the main board. Someone tasked with posting especially 'big' prizes on the main board when they are added to this mags thread.
+ Board doesn't get clogged. People less likely to miss 'hidden' big prizes
- How is it decided what prizes are big? Could cause disagreements.
5) All comps posted on one thread only which is sticked on the main board. One designated poster posts one thread per day on the main board, highlighting any new prizes. See post 50 for info on how I envisage this working.
+ Main board doesn't get clogged up. Sticky still exists for those that use it daily. New post daily on the main board draws attention to the sticky every day, so no-one misses out
- Someone has to take on the daily post (but this is less work that each comp being posted individually)
[STRIKE]I personally favour option 3.[/STRIKE] Have now thought of a fifth option and think it is better as the board gets less clogged. :rotfl:Will update this list if there are other suggestions.0 -
I'm not a bad person trying to cause an issue, there is an issue, no-one wants to offend Cornish who puts lots of time in that's understandable.
I've tried to help people see comps which aren't so apparent, yes they might be to you above, but many commented in the thread saying they weren't I'm not going to try and explain anymore as it feels very intense.
I'm okay in all of this, I can easily naviagte MSE and not need to miss out on a comp.
Others aren't hence I tried to help.#JusticeForGrenfell0
