How can I maximise the speed of my Moto G for internet tethering to a laptop?0

Google's dance with Motorola just looks like a game they were playing with Samsung. Google didn't like Samsung messing about so much with Android and doing so many of its own versions of system apps and interface (as usual mighty Google thinks it knows best)
It probably bought Motorola and started releasing cheaper high spec. phones just to rattle Samsung who are the real player that counts. It was just to show them that if they Samsung wouldn't play nicer Google could easily buy up manufacturers and start taking Samsung's market share. And releasing Kitkat on Motorola's just to rub it in that Google's products would get new software first too.
Samsung has got the message and has recently agreed to tinker less with android and leave it more Google'ish. Shame really, I have Samsung and vanilla Android phones and the Samsung versions of apps are much nicer than Googles bland efforts IMHO.
So job done.. bye bye Motorola, Google really isn't all that interested in hardware.
Anyone who works for a big international blue chip will be familiar with these senior management games.0 -

BTW I got the WiFi working with the Moto G, intermittently at least.
Can I access 'application settings/manager' on this phone (like I can on my old phones 2.1 Android)? Or 'running services'? Or are these not accessible anymore? I want to disable the Kit Kat reminders and I read that this can be done by disabling 'Google Framework Services'.0 -
Answering my own question in case it's helpful ...
I found access to application settings in Settings > Storage > Apps.
At first, it looks like a simple list of apps on the phone, showing how much space each one takes up, as you might expect in the 'Storage' section. But by then selecting one of the apps, you are presented with options to disable/enable, clear cache and other options and info.
CORRECTION: The above is in fact in Settings > Apps after all. I originally missed the headings in there, which list apps either Downloaded/Running/All or Disabled. Maybe I need new glasses.0 -
Just ordered mine, can't wait for it to come!0
