Turns out that another teacher is also leaving and they've already advertised for that post. So I hope they bl00dy well do the same for French. And if they don't, it'll not be my fault for not giving them enough time. I only have to tell them by end of May...

They absolutely have plenty of time. You can hand in your notice with a clear conscience, and if they don't rush to replace you and have trouble as a result then it's only down to their own incompetence.

The last 2 years have been about them not rushing to replace the leaving French teacher... 3 times...

I do not feel good when I go to work. I feel meh. Overwhelmed. But I do still thoroughly enjoy teaching, which is a good thing. The escape hatch is opening, the end is in sight...14 weeks of teaching. 31 days (give or take)of working left. 14 of those without exam classes to teach.

But I am walking around the place smugly, knowing that I'm leaving. 'this is the last time I'll have to do x/y/z' frequently rolls around my brain😎

Pip is full of cold so will be having some extra sleep and going in late tomorrow. Sorry PE, but you just ain't viewed as importantisimo in this household...

Pip stayed home and will be home tomorrow too. They've got a reet nasty bug, poor thing. They came downstairs around 2pm and lasted all of 35 mins before heading back upstairs.

I've done some trip admin, which took a while longer than I'd expected. And I've written my letter and put it in an envelope ready for tomorrow .

I've still a fair whack of marking to do but am shifting it all to the weekend. It can wait. And I have a fab book that I want to read!

The letter has been submitted. Hand written. In ink, no less.

Went on a trip to the national gallery. Nearly 18,000 steps done.

Pip stayed off school, is getting better but still rather poorly.

Best of luck apple! I left a toxic job recently, am now settling into a new organisation where people are reasonable, friendly and human, and it is without a doubt the very best decision I ever made, even factoring in a pay drop and a fixed term contract which in this climate felt a bit of a gamble. This was the first Monday in a long long time that I felt calm on waking!
