So what are you doing to celebrate 🥂🥂.  It is MOMENTOUS!!!  Have you had a look to see what the house is worth currently?  Just for a boost to the mood and knowing the kind of asset you are sitting on 😂

Dh has gone to the Newcastle coast today, sadly for a uni friend's funeral. He was determined to go despite still being signed off work and in recovery from his eye op. He has actually enjoyed not being allowed to do very much at all and I hope it will make him draw back from his commitments henceforth and enjoy himself more. Prob won't happen though- the perils of being self employed!

I think the house is worth circa £350,000, f0xh0les. Not too bad, eh?! That's almost double what we paid for it 19 years ago.

And that is exactly why I want to stop teaching. Pip needs me around more. So why am I vacillating about trying to go back for one day a week to teach the littles? One day I want to, the next day I don't... So fickle.

The thought of a regular income, however small, is most welcome and appealing.

The thought of being tied to that place and possibly therefore missing other (as yet unknown) opportunities is not appealing.

It's really natural to find a chance to keep one foot on somewhat solid and familiar ground appealing, especially as we are surrounded with economic concerns at the moment... I guess it is about contemplating how solid it actually is,and my fear would be that it turns out to be the kind of gloopy mud that will pull you down and spill over into the days you aren't there. My caring responsibilities are very different to yours, and I am only just getting my head around them, but having a boss and employment conditions that support me to be the best I can be at the caring stuff alongside my job has proven really invaluable already. You sound like a really great teacher, I have every confidence you can find a top up income in a setting that values you. But I do understand the pull of the potential to step away less completely at this point, and hedge ones bets. I'm sure you'll find a route through this. Good luck!
