Lots of books from the library! 6 RM ones for dd. Some craft ones, some money ones and some cooking ones for me.

Just blitzed through 'pay off your mortgage in 2 yrs'. Saw the programme when it was on but none of it seeped into my mentality at that point! I think a quote at the very start of the book sums it up for me: "There are but two ways of paying debt: increase of industry in raising income, increase of thrift in laying out." Well said Thomas Carlyle!

I'm not so good (for that read 'rubbish'!) at raising income; but am fairly good at the thrift side. Although that said, I could always do much, much better!

Off to do some knitting...if dd will pernit it...

Have just shuffled some pennies: the odd extra bit in my pay (bit slow in this), rounding down, then rounding down again!

Total so far = £215.64, so I am over the target of £200 already! (thanks to £89 that dh had refunded!) So I shall up the target to £300, and in one afternoon I move from 95% down to 71%. :D

Hi A*M, just had a cosy catch up with your thread!

Glad you're feeling better, maybe still take a bit of care though, not to tire yourself out with all your usual shenanigans!

So, the big question ... did DD stay in the bed and has she been back there since or was it a short but sweet novelty?

:T Well done with all the MOPs, pots and NSDs, you're doing a stonking job there of keeping it all going in the right direction. Being below 65K after being 78K at the beginning of the year is brilliant! Hope you'll celebrate a bit in the fullness of time!

I'm not sure I know the book you mention but I like the quote, very apt on these threads!

Happy weekend to you and yours! x

PS: Don't spend out on safety pins just yet ...

:hello: Hello Hbbb - wonderful to hear from you! I had decided your cold must be a stinker to keep you from posting for so long, or there had been a major incident (chooks v hounds, or you taking on the lairy louts in the park...)!

To answer the question: dd did the first night in her bed, the next in ours, and then back to hers - with me sitting on my bed perusing t'interweb on the tablet. However, dh bought her her own tablet a few weeks back (she doesn't know it yet!) with a view to it being for Cmas or bday. Anyhow, we've decided to let her 'earn' it with going to sleep in her bed = 1 sticker; or going to tap and ballet without any moaning = 1 sticker (this one is SOOOO worth it as she moans and cries each week about tap, but wants to do the exam - nov 15th seems such a long way away!) She needs to get to 27 stickers. 24 more to go... Hope she gets into good habits...

Got my 2nd sparkly blue and white mitt finished :T.

Am already wondering about focussing on novelty woolly hats for next year's sch fair... Nope, not done this one yet... Still, I can plot and plan...!

And a project for the sewing machine.... Something like the bunnies would be good. Must keep my eyes open for a likely specimen...

Had a foray into pinterest yesterday - to look at bunnies. Turns out the one I have been using as a template ('copying' sounds so rude...!) is from a book, so up for anyone to make. Yay!

However, my bunny making has ground to a halt - seems to have happened when the weather changed and I got my lurgi. Must get my butt into gear as regards fabrics and then cut them out.

Dd and I came back early from dance as she burst into tears in the tap class, poor mite. She's had a bit of a downer of a day - lots of little bumps. Sleep is what she needs. And asap, really. (yes, she IS still audibly awake as I type).

But coming home early meant that I didn't venture into liddle to use a voucher. In fact, I have another NSD to add to my total. We are running low on loo roll and milk. I think the loo roll can last til weds, but the milk cannot, so I may have to pop to aldee tomorrow and will therefore get a fair amount, tolessen the load on weds.

We emptied the play shed and found no monkey. But the skirting and floor got a good clean, some stuff got 'streamlined' and some bits were popped into the cs bag. We have a load of plastic beads - so am now pondering knitting with beads...! But not just yet!

I have read most of MMM's blog posts - but not the comments - and need a new focus to take all my attention now! ERE website, here I come!

Got dd's prescription done over the phone, so the freezer will soon be crammed full of bread.

A quiet day has been had. Dh was on PA, dd enjoyed kids klub. After lunch dd and I did some crafting, and she's been through some of her stuff looking for things to put in the love in a box boxes.

Dh is going to order some 'clingfilm' stuff for the windows, and I'll be going to ikea sometime this week to get the fleecy throws. There are some awful motorway roadworks on dh's way to work, so public transport is as quick at the mo. So I may have the car :j!

Dd has had great fun playing out the front on her bouncy hopper - she is sooo speedy on it! But it means that front door is open. Which means draughts. The sooner I get a couple of curtains up, the better!

No TTs but no spends either, so another NSD claimed.

My legs are still only semi-functional after Friday's session. Oopsie! But semi-functional is better than they were before...

Crafting news - i've stuffed two and a half bunny legs and knitted 4 stripes of dd's jumper sleeve.

Craft purchase confession... It's all Sains' fault...

Stopped off to buy some gf bread for dd, paid for parking, and sains did not have it. Grrrr! So, a quick trawl of the ch shops yielded 3 bks for dd and a shirt to use for bunnies.... One day...!

I need to get a gown - black, graduation style - for work soon. Either via ebay, or on the fabric stall at the market! I fancy a caped-crusader style myself... Black curtains and ribbon (of which I have a stash!)would do it...

I have some black eye beans simmering away - bb date was 07! :rotfl: Will make hummous with it - all part of trying to use up stuff that we have had for aaages

Lots of phone calls made tonight. My lovely uncle died peacefully yesterday, after two and three-quarter years of stomach cancer. He is now at peace, even though we wish he were still with us.

The funeral is this friday, down in Truro. Hence the flurry of phone calls to try to arrange getting mum there. I have requested leave of absence for half of Thurs, as I cannot physically get there if I travel on the Friday. Hope I get it! We will stay with an old friend of the family and I hope mum will come back here for a few days afterwards.

Dh will take Friday off as holiday and look after dd.
