Today I decided that I would make both sweet and savoury flapjacks and protein ball thingies. Except that when I went to start baking, I found I had no gluten free oats 😵. Cue having to make a decision about buying some- walk, bus + walk, bus... It was tough! In the end, I walked both ways and felt good for doing so.And then made many many flapjacks! Savoury and power balls in the oven and sweet ones experimentally in the slow cooker...Day 2 of exams completed for dc.Recorded pro bull riding is entertaining us now. And dh is washing up all the kitchenalia I used for baking. Everyone is happy!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!5

Savoury flapjacks sound very interesting! As does bull riding, my word! I did actually see a bullfight once, long after I became a vegetarian. The posters said they didn't kill the bulls, and that was true. They nearly killed the humans though - the bull was a bit narky, and crashed through the safety wall that the guys working the ring had sheltered behind. It ran right round, chasing the men, who all jumped into the arena. It was like a cartoon, to be honest😮2023: the year I get to buy a car2

Ooh, you've reminded me that I have also seen a bullfight live. I had completely forgotten about it. It was in Portugal, a small village-y affair, in a square ring I think. But the bull got out, or was very close to doing so. I ended up standing on the roof of a car with my friends. Gosh, something like that really should be more clear in my memory!!!I adore the bull riding though. I'm getting to know both the rider and the bull names now! Stetson Lawrence, Kaique Pacheco, Eli Vanderlander, Dylon Swearinger, to name a few that come to mind. Bulls? Woopaa, Chiseled, Prince Harry, Diddy Wa Diddy, Vanilla Ice I'm legit too ... There are some massive bulls out there! Plus some that look tiny in comparison but sure make up for it in meanness!!!So today was a good opportunity for a lie in. Nope. Body woke up at 5.53. Sometimes I can fall back asleep but today wasn't one of those days. Even 6.30 would class as a lie in... Try again tomorrow...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!3

Glad your memory got jogged, that's interesting! And flapjack recipe is excellent - oats are so easy to store, easy to cook (no rinsing beforehand) I can see lots of potential substitutions in there too.2023: the year I get to buy a car2

Dc has done v little regarding next week's exams. They have just not been able to do anything other than read a couple of chapters of the German textbook yesterday. No dance. No church. Not much sleep either! There's no point pushing it and I have said that I'm not bothered about doing any more revision. Why push today and cause a shutdown? What a waste of energy. So I'm preventing a shutdown instead. We did go out for a walk in the sunshine, and have talked about a shed for dc. Now, our garden is not large- it is about 4.75 m wide and 7m? long. With a gate in the corner of the back fence. On a slight slope. With a patio for 2m from the house. Anyhow, we've measured out 2m x 1.5m, and 2.5m x 2m to see how it would fit. It would also entail removing the apple tree (which has produced about 4 apples in the last few years but, of course, has absolutely masses of blossom this year...), the 2 blackcurrant bushes (always prolific) and replacing some manky fence. As well as making a level area for it. And sourcing a suitable shed...Gumtree has a couple of possibilities but we are nowhere near ready for getting one yet...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!4

Today's exams = meh, meh, meh + meh. There are 4 of them, which is better than yesterday's 5, but they are all yukky subjects. However, the mehs are sandwiched by 2 clubs + an evening one, so hopefully there should be some decent things today...I'm pleased with my liddle f/v box as it enabled me to put back the grapes in my trolley and therefore only really pay 21p for the rest of what was in it! (1 pear, 1 aubergine, 1 manky lemon, 4 oranges, 3 peppers, potatoes, 1 peach, 1 punnet grapes)Broccoli soup is made from a yellowing example, and chicken bones are brewing in the slow cooker. My current sunflower sprouting success rate is 40%.DH has taken stuff to the tip.I have drafted an email re my hours: thank you + all that for giving me what I asked but please don't spread me out over more than 3 days because blah, blah, blah. Not sent it yet - want dh to read it first.Aaaand I am about to apply for more exam marking with another board. But first, coffee!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!4

So that was April. Ups and downs. Still on a steep learning curve re dc, although I reckon I stop at all the benches placed conveniently on the hillside for a little breather...Chatting with big sis, she's taking the plunge and going to Guernsey in July. We have cousins out there but haven't seen them for 42 years, due to dad being dad. And there'll be no better time to meet them ( for maybe the third time in my life😆) than with her too. Dh can't really come along and dc doesn't really want to, which leaves me free to go on my own.3 hours on the speedy boat out of Poole (6 hours on the schedule?!) Or 9 hours out of Portsmouth on the pedalo (but 12 hours on the schedule?!). Not nearly as costly as I expected. I need to see what big sis is doing. I wouldn't fancy 12 hours on my own...Anyway, that has made me realize that I don't particularly want them to meet me as the rather waddling hippo that I am. My memories of them are that they were/are very outdoorsy, huntery, fishingy, active sorts of people...2 months (plus a bit). Not long, really...Best get a plan together. Preferably an effective one...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!3
