Today I have taken dc to school; shopped in aldee; done a food bank donation (gave lots of biscuits as f0xh0les says it makes it special for the recipients); shopped in sainz; seen my gp re last week's bloods - I'm vit d deficient- and talked through dc's ones that were only taken 2 days ago!; been to they gym; popped into the £ shop; returned the wrong design leather jacket to the Ch shop; got myself some vit d pills; done a laundry load; put the shopping away; had a chat with dh who said 'this may sound silly, but I want to prepare for a power outage' - bless him, I think it's a fab idea! And I've had lunch and started cooking a rice pud.

Definitely - savoury snacks were a good halfway house for me, they didn't press the "binge" button, but they did fill me up, and the calories weren't completely empty. Good luck with it.2023: the year I get to buy a car4

That's a really good idea, karma. Thank you!And now, I'm lounging until 1pm, with Department S on the box, then I'll set to some school work. Dh is taking dc to youth tonight, so I know I'll have about 2.5 hours to myself later. I'm looking forward to it!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!6

Ooph. A couple of solid hours prepping/researching for y13 French. Deep topics. Politics and immigration, for one... I am most grateful for free resources put out there by lovely people. I need to come back to it later while it is still there in my head, before it floats off to la-la-land...And I have made a scrumptious rice pud using reduced to 25p-for-2litres of skimmed milk + pudding rice BB Dec 2012 (oops). + Some sugar from the cupboard + cinnamon. Yum. I did it on the hob rather than in the oven. It felt cheaper!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!5

That's a lot of concentrated work, apple, there's a lot of ticks in that there post! Glad the savoury snack experience was helpful to you - I have a thing about empty calories and missing micronutrients, I think I got it from the reading I did while I was working on beating the sugar binging
- and amazing thinking of the research for the French topics, your language skills must be *so* current. Kudos to you.

We have a gazillion torches, but he's ordering a couple of major power banks. And gas, gas and more gas! We have a camping stove already. I'm wondering about getting hold of more pallets, for burning. But we only have the fire pit metal bowl and that has to be used outside 😂, so prob not much point. I'm thinking in terms of 5 days of no power, and my priority is to feed dc and keep them warm. And maybe get a couple of hwb as you can't beat a microwaveable polar bear without leccy...

And what do you think I use my excess flour on? Yes, chocolate brownies and coconut cake
It's lucky for me that I don't actually snack very much any more!2023: the year I get to buy a car3 -
Have you seen ThePrepared? It's a prepper site and very rational/evidence based I think.
Maybe get a carbon monoxide detector to go with the gas stove?2 -
I meant heat the polar bear; not beat it!!!Good idea re the CO detector. Tho the kitchen prob has enough draughts to keep us safe!!I've already thought about how to keep the heat in more. Downstairs is open plan, so I'd hang a curtain down the side of the stairs from a pole along the ceiling. And another one from the bottom of the slopey ceiling above the lower stairs. If that makes sense!I didn't actually get to tick anything off my list this afternoon, just moved some things along a bit. Really must do some tonight...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!4
