I am extremely grateful to my two spare patio slabs which are currently preventing the fence being blown apart. The chaps who 'mended' it quite recently did a pants job. But you only get to realise that quite a while afterwards. So one post wibbles and wobbles like a weebil. And the 2 slabs are keeping it fixed in one position into the wind. Phew.

I suddenly feel very stifled. I think the only time this last week that I wasn't on a strict schedule to get home, or with dc next to me, was yesterday at the gym, when dc was out for several hours (and they did call 90 mins early to be collected.)Maybe I'm just not v good at doing things I enjoy when other people are around!!!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!1

Dh took dc to bouldering this morning, and I used the time to get the bus and do a quick shop at both sainz and aldee, plus do some laundry and get in a workout. Not quite the relaxing time I'd thought about, but I did get all the shopping, and whizz some of dc's floordrobe clothes through a cycle.Dc still has a rotten cold and cough but has coped well with much less medicine today. They went bouldering, which is very strenuous! And also to dance, so I'm well proud of them.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!1

It is official. Dc has been diagnosed with ASD and ADHD. They are mightily relieved. As are we.

I think you are right to be so forward looking and obviously you are very supportive of dc. Hope all goes well.Great that you got so much done, I don't think I'd be half as productive as you and dh!Save £20,000 in 2025. April 2k, May 3.5k3

It is only Tuesday morning and I am overwhelmed already. Not helped by travelling on the buses yesterday, which requires leaving around 6.20am.Mondays are always full on and this one was especially so. Then I'm doing extra work this week to conduct the next set of mock orals. For 2 groups, one of which I don't teach. And arrange the listening set-up for both groups. And dc had a meltdown last night for a few hours so they only got to bed at 10.40. A few things have changed (youth group to a different day; a morning school club has moved to a lunchtime and dc cannot go now as they have a different club at that time; and a stating of the school rules again where the school had eased up due to covid but are now clamping down)I slept poorly, being awake for an hour or so in the middle, then hot, then cold...I woke dc as arranged but they cannot get up. So I am giving them another hour, to see if they can get up and get to school at all. Dh is prepared to cancel his plans for the day, as I have to go to work and once I return, it will be too late for him to go.And Weds and Thurs are going to be MAJOR issues. I'd prob best not go in to details other than I'm at work, dh is (currently) on a training course and dc is not in school. But I don't think dc is in a fit state to be on their own. and I cannot wfh as I'm running the aforementioned exams... So I'm already anticipating that stress...Apologies for the dump. I just needed to get his written down somewhere. I realise too that if I'm finding this tough, then it is so much tougher for dc.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!5

Sending love and it is horrible to be torn in many directions.
DD2 tried DofE but couldn't cope. It is right to try but also opt out if it is wrong for them at the time.4 -

Yes re D of E. Dc did sign up and was quite keen, but that waned over the months and whenever we talked about it, it became a chore and a trigger. Time to withdraw! So today went well at work and the kids did their best. And I got to do a short but intense workout at the gym beforehand. Just as well cos I couldn't have done it afterwards....Tomorrow dc has to be home alone, I'm leaving at 6.50 and dh at 8.35. They are kind of ok with this. I just need to leg it out of work at the end of the day to get home and feed dc and take them to the coach for 5.15. They're due back at school at 10.45 pm. Yikes. And I'm getting a plan in place for Thurs. Starting off by talking to my dep head early tomorrow, hence leaving before 7. And giving them the situation and seeing if I could, if needed, leave after conducting the speaking tests (when I have a free period) and teach the rest of my classes online from home...I just want it to be Friday already...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!2
