Each one of the things I asked for were reasonable, I thought, and acceptable for a school to do. My own school has done them all when needed. It is like hitting a brick wall every time.

Sadly for a lot of people who feel their gender identity doesn't match their biological sex (trans or non binary), a lot of barriers are put in their way. The school is effectively reflecting what other establishments and bodies will be like - some are very helpful and do everything they can to make things easy, and others dig their heels in and put obstacles in the way in the hope that making things difficult will make the person change their mind about the path they're on.

Often it depends on the people running the show, and sadly there are a vocal group who feel that gender identity is not something that can or should be changed. If the school has someone who is part of this group then they will be allowed to do this kind of thing, under the guise of "we're doing what's best for your child" and "we need to consider the needs of all children in the school".

Apple - There are plenty of people out there like your DC who don't have such a caring parent. You are doing your best to support your DC during this, and I applaud you. It isn't easy for them or you, and you will find that these kinds of issues will crop up repeatedly as your DC grows up. I'm sorry that it's not going to get any easier in time, but you are teaching your DC resilience, prioritising of their mental health, and the ability to take a step back, rally, and then re-engage, and those are going to be hugely important as they grow up, whatever the future holds for them.

The thing is, Vintage, that the battles with the school are not to do with dc's identity, but their anxiety. Sigh. I am very blessed that dc is so open with me and that I have my dh to support and look after us both.

I can't recall if I said on here that I have withdrawn my application for the job at the school. i couldn't have these battles with someone who would also be my line manager... .

Still have queues for fuel round here as people who filled up a fortnight ago now need fuel again. And pumps are still empty. We should be okay for about 1 more week.

It was hard getting dc up this morning and to school, but I did it. Then bought the harvest items and dropped them back at school. Then went to the gym (and did a really tough session which i thoroughly enjoyed) followed by  a tip trip. Got home and dh dropped dc's latin book to school. Ooph.

This morning was well foggy! Couldn't see the traffic lights until up close and personal with them.

Got in an early gym session, getting home so that dh could get out. He ended up being out from 8.45am until almost 7pm. Ooph.

I got dc to dance, where they were given a special mention for getting the top mark in the recent ish tap exam. And I took a bag to the Sally Army whilst dc danced. Also bought myself some ex shorts and an ex top, and dc got another shirt.

Dc told me this evening that today has been a good day, and that they have had no reason to die today. A good day, indeed.

Apple we are all here rooting for you.   What a fab job you are doing.  I think you've 109% made the right decision re not teaching at DC's school.  Keep going love Humdinger xx

We've a MASH thingy and dc's safety plan to check over today. I admit to ignoring them both yesterday, needing a day off from having to make decisions.
