  • We had a chat with the Dep Head, and the name change should be in place by the end of the week. Finally!!!
Lunch was good. They double checked everything and I got to chat with the chef too 😁
Collected dc fine, and their day was fairish. Phew.
Ucas stuff not done not chem set cleaned up. Tho there's time yet...

  • Good news about the name change, glad the Dep Head agreed to it!

  • Have spent the intervening time getting dc's hwk done. If that's what it takes, then I'll do it with them all year. I have just produced a nice poster about German modal verbs, and written a note to the chem teacher to say that dc had already spent more than the time allocated on the work thus far and, no, was not able to also do a poster summarising all the work covered so far this term...
Dh is stepping in to help out tomorrow at the sch where he locks up. So he has to be out to open up around 6am, then home by 7 for me to cycle to work. Then he'll get dc on the bus (or take in the car), possibly return to the sch, then head out to where he is supposed to go to do some work, and make sure he is back at dc's sch to pick them up to get them home in time for CBT. At which time, he needs to be out of the house so he'll prob go and start locking up (or sit in the office there!) early.
I have to cycle to work (so dh has the car to get dc home in time and in a fit state) and teach 5/6 lessons, do a duty, catch up with the other French teacher in my free, ensure we are good to go for Sat (open morning) and cycle home. But not get back whilst dc is still doing their CBT sesh...

Good grief ... you really need to juggle a lot of journeys there :( hope it all goes well.  And I'm glad you got the name change sussed, with them finally getting their act together.

  • The day went well!! Everyone got their stuff done and was in the right place at the right time 😊.
I'm sat here with a microwavable polar bear on my neck. The ride to sch was fine. I got showered and washed my hair. Then I just got cold. And by the end of the second lesson, my neck muscles (back left) were immensely painful and moving my neck was agony. It might have been that I was in a draught- I'm of the age where that could be the cause!!!!!!😆😆😆!!!!!
So, I wore my Oompah Loompah reflective jacket, borrowed a blanket-sized green scarf thingy from a colleague, and got a heat pack from the office. Another colleague showed me how to use the pesky microwave. And I was good to function!
I must've looked a sight but the kids are so used to me that they didn't bat an eyelid at my attire, but just asked if I was ok!
I made it home fine, lovely warm weather and somehow all the cars had taken a different route and it was a dream of a ride home. I timed it for the end of dc's session - perfick. And while I was sat outside on the wall chatting with some neighbours, dc came out and helped next door's kid with their maths hwk 😁.
And the name change has finally come into effect. Yay!
And that was Wednesday. Same again next week, eh? Though preferably without the neck...

  • Dc told me that they want to be woken up 15 mins later for school. I am so chuffed! Getting up early to have time in the morning is one of the things they can control. But they have been just so tired and this is an eminently (sp? meaning?) sensible decision. Of course, I knew it was a good thing, but the decision had to come from dc.
I consider myself fortunate to have gotten some fuel today. Tis ridiculous out there. We needed some within the next 30 miles anyway, and I was so lucky to only have to wait behind 1 car when I went to get it. The queues are stoooopid round here.
After a chat with dh, I am going to keep my gym membership :D:D:D. He has no problem with the money and pointed out that I only need to go twice a week for it to be worth it. He also told me that he thinks that it is good for me to get out of the house to go there. So - for mow - I shall keep it. And try to make sure that I use equipment there that we don't have at home.
So, today, I did a kettlebell workout and used the 20 kg one (only have 8+16 at home). It's blimmin' heavy!!!
And I'll be cycling to work 1 day a week until I feel it's too dark/rainy/murky out there. And I may, just may, go for a little run every so often.

    Anyhow, enough wittering.
I'm off to brush up my signing skills as I have offered to assist with a deaf parent at our open morning tomorrow. Rusty does not begin to describe my current level...

  • Thanks karma. (I know life has its ups and downs but I've been feeling pretty overwhelmed for over a week now. Hope it goes away soon). We have an open morning tomorrow- it's wot private skools do. We have a deaf family (child is hearing) coming, so my role is to make them welcome. And attempt to translate what they are told. I'll defo need the kid on my side to help me, as my translation from bsl to English ain't much cop...
I nipped to the ch shop today and got bargains. £14 for a winter shirt for dc, a winter shirt + some trousers + a tee shirt + a vivid pink work jacket for me, and a blouse and a button-up- cardi-with-pockets for mum. Result.

  • Oooph. Open morning done and dusted. Traffic is stupid out there. Everyone filling up, queueing,blocking...
Need to set off for dance soon and decide whether to try the usual route, which I've seen is chocka, or go a much longer route...
