I'm very cross about the dep head on your DC's behalf. If it's been agreed with parents and HoY already then why get involved?

And frankly, it's just a name. As long as no one is asking to be called something that's a swear then I really don't see the harm in changing it.

Anyhow, dc told me this evening that they were happy. (Cor, I'm on such a rollercoaster with their emotions). Which is a good thing. So a good end to the day.

I'm very glad that I went to the gym + liddle first thing. Well, firstish. I dropped off dc before going. It is important for me to do things for myself, and a workout is one of my priorities. So even if I do eventually make a decision and cancel my gym membership, I'll still carry on working out at home. I did it for years, until dc was having swim lessons, and it was financially worth joining. Then they built a new swanky lovely gym. 2 months in, the price rose by £10 PCM. I sucked it up and have ensured I'm a frequent user. But, as I've said above, I now feel I have to work at it to go enough. And just imagine the equipment I could purchase with my membership saving...!!!

I have found a Livestream (tho I'm too late to the party to watch it live!) on utube of worlds strongest man AND woman by rogue fitness. I'll enjoy that tomorrow 😁

If the school are going to be difficult - how much is deed poll? just goes to Deed Poll Agency UK, oh, £9.99 to legally change a child under 15's name.  Then it is a legal document and they can quite rightly refuse to answer unless they are addressed properly.   My kids went to school with a sibling group who had to go by other names so they would not be found by their father.  No photos, new names, no social media, moved counties etc.  The school should be set up for this.  It is sadly not as unusual as you would expect.  The teacher sounds like an idiot

A badge might help for the less aware teachers - I do always wonder at people who have their name on a necklace, but I suppose in this case it might also help.  Mind you, I know a Mr Underpants, so I am hardly a moral authority on name changes for the better.  If I had to change my name I would go by Ophelia Schaffenacker.  I bet dc is much more grown up than I am about it.

Thanks f0xh0les! Now to meander off and ponder what name I would choose...

This morning, I had been for a run (and yes, there was more run than not in it for once!), done a first load of laundry, been to sainz and had my first coffee all before the others surfaced.

Since then, I've done another 2 washes, got showered, stripped the bed, fed dc, done a video call with step dd2 for dc to tell them about their news, skipped through the WUS (gotta love that acronym for World Ultimate Strongman 😂) women's events and got dc to do the German from yesterday's lesson that they missed.

That is absolutely rubbish of the school! I've changed 3 students' names on our office records in the past fortnight - all part of life! Sad they show little understanding x

I emailed the HOY this afternoon, to fill them in on what happened on Friday, to tell them what happens to dc with their extreme anxiety ( physical and mental reactions), and to request again - with reasons and a note that it had been done at my sch this term - the name change esp as regards the anxiety caused by being addressed as one's former self and not knowing what one will be called by teachers.

Otherwise, a fair day. Dc completed their art hwk (a lonnng one) and history. Apart from eng and maths, they only get a hwk (or PREP as it now is, an acronym for summary) once a fortnight per subject. We still need to ensure things aren't left to be done at the last minute. Dc is not unwilling; but they are at times unable to do the hwk. And then berate themselves for being lazy.

I found last Friday rather overwhelming and draining myself. Am honestly having second thoughts about working full time...

I was up at 5.50 to have some time to myself before waking dc for an early club. Which they then said they didn't want to do. So I let them sleep for another 30 mins. Then, all of a sudden, a body appeared downstairs asking me to get breakfast ready as they were going to try to get to the club!! And we did it! We also made a plan for subsequent weeks, that it will be a morning of moving quickly to get ready but without having to wake up early. I take dc in the car anyway, so we're not rushing for a bus.

Well, with the day getting going much earlier than anticipated, I decided to go straight to the gym for a 12 min AMRAP, and was home by 8.30. Go me!

The rest of the day can now be more relaxing, not trying to fit in a gym visit. I'm off soon to counselling on the bus - more relaxing than driving and I get a good walk in too.

-lunch with some good friends at a place that has not (yet????) poisoned me...

-collect dc after the club after school.
