was that your friend or the zero-waste website?Such a good idea, but honestly ours is run by well meaning idi0ts. But then again I remember the 'scoop shop' from the early 1990s when I went to Uni, and you bought the weight of what you needed in a paper bag and stuck your own label on it. I loved scoop shops, but they were looked down on as 'poor people's shops'. How times change eh?

I remember those scoop shops too! In a way, they were the precursor to today's zero waste places. Except that you used their placcy bags...! I think I remember where it was in Sheffield - at the bottom of the pedestrianised bit and across the road. Kind of opposite B00ts. In the days when there was a hole in the road there. But there again, I could be remembering it totally wrong!!!It was my friend who didn't want too earlyToday, I went for an early session at the gym and then filled up with fuel. It was the perfect drive down the hill and the mpg reached its maximum of 99.9!!!!!!!! I was whooping to myself as I drove alongNST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!1

Went to a zero waste shop today, and will prob return for wul + laundry liquid unless I find somewhere nearer. He did suggest somewhere a bit nearer, where we do go fairly often. The shopping area has 2 parts about 600m apart and we usually only go to one part, so I must have a nosy around the other...Met a colleague for a coffee and was determined to have a good time. I do find them frequently very negative and I often try to have minimal contact with them at work. But they live alone and that must have been especially hard over the last 18 months. In the past, we have been good friends and I don't want to totally lose that. So, I limited it to an hour, and a good time was had!I popped into a couple of ch shops and didn't buy anything. Result.Seems like the results distribution at work went off ok. I wasn't called to justify any results (yet...!)NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!1

Sounds like you're really looking after yourself and your boundaries, apple, and having a great time as a result, that's lovely to read as I'm catching up. And you actually went to Hove? Coo! Not a million miles away from where I used to live ... I'm glad you enjoyed that too.2023: the year I get to buy a car3

We had a lovely visit from big sis, and she stayed for two nights! Plenty of chilling time, just to natter. She often uses her time down here to whizz off here and there to visit friends, but this time the only one available was in our town, so we got to spend lots of time with her. 😁 We even swapped a couple of Cmas presents! And the closed toe sandals I'd found in a ch shop and given her for her bday turned out to be just a smidge too big so she brought them down to return to me cos my feet are a smidge larger and they fit me perfectly. Yay!Today is dh's bday so he's had presents and cake and curry for tea.We have built 2 planters, finally! I broke up the pallet yonks ago and the bits have all been sitting by the back door waiting to be put to use. I started the ball rolling by sawing some pieces to the right lengths. When dh did some (by this time, my hands were hurting too much to do a lot more), he took just 1/3 of the saw strokes that I did to get through the same size piece of wood! We used some old bits and bobs we had laying around, and now have 2 rather substantial planters. The slightly smaller one does need two more bits of wood, which we need to source and attach before putting any soil inside it. I am well chuffed with our handiwork 😎. Tomorrow I'll make sure they sit level - the ground has a slope to it. I have plans for what will be planted in them, but there is rather a lot of soil/compost required... The tip used to have a corner of free-to -take compost, but they're not doing that this year...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!5

Great feeling when you make planters out of scrap pallets isn't it? I love mine.
