Orchard comes from the Latin hortus (garden) and the Old English ortgeard - so you can have a plum yard anytime you want. It is one of those things, it is a vinyard cos of those pesky Normans and their Vigne for their Vin, -  like chicken meat is still called chicken cos peasants ate it, but mutton (mouton) cos the posh folk up the castle ate it, and cow meat is beef.
Avoid the indoctrination of the transplanted aristocratic classes of the 11th Century :D
Still fighting the battle, after all these years.  - I hope you scrumped some plums.

Dh does the night time pick up of dc and I drop off in the mornings. He drew the short straw!!! Tonight he went for 9pm, as agreed with dc. And finally left at 10.25 so that they could stay for the bonfire. They are having an awesome time and it is totally worth all the driving and arranging our days around them.

One of the visitors to the entre has tested +ve for covid and all subsequent visitors have been cancelled (except us, cos were special! No, we still get in cos we tested before coming here and today went and got some tests from the chemist to do tomorrow morning, despite not coming into contact with the visitor at all). The young people will be tested tomorrow too, after advice to wait another 24 hours so that the infection would be strong enough for the lf test to pick up.

Tomorrow I simply must go to liddle and spend my free £10. Somehow I spent the requisite £200 there last month , thus qualifying for this free money. It's be rude not to claim it...

Glad we had a lie in this morning. Otherwise I'd be snoring on the sofa, waiting for them to arrive, and probably be dribbling elegantly ...

We've all done 2 tests on consecutive days, and we're all negative. Yay!!!
We go home tonight. I'm ready for my own bed. We'll pick up dc on the way, though that may be rather late, as it's the final night of the youth week away...
Packing has involved putting every single bit of clothing on the radiators to rid them of the dampness before packing them. Even clothes in the wardrobes. Even Lycra clothing.
I have knitted one fox sock (still needs sewing up and a bit of embroidery like eyes and nose...) so am rather pleased with myself. Just another one to go...

Sooo, we're now leaving tomorrow morning instead! Dc rang and asked if they could stay over - they want to try pulling an all-nighter...! And, why not, eh?! Of course we said yes. So it'll be an early start tomorrow 😁

And we're home. We somehow arrived in sunshine, after driving through heavy rain, and got the car emptied. And now it is torrential out there. Phew, we were lucky!!!

Though dc does have an eye appt this afternoon...

Dc stayed up to see the stars and the sunrise. And slept for about 1 hour. So I sent them to bed as soon as we got home and gave them 3 hours.
We made it to the lenses appt and dc had them in, but their nails are too long to learn to take them out. Oh my. Dc realized that keeping their nails long is more important to them than getting lenses. Though they understand that they would learn to get the lenses out without scraping their eyeball as their nails grew again. But it was just all too much today, so lenses are on the back burner.
It was so good to come home and unpack my bag and put it all away, as 90% of my clothes came home clean.
Tomorrow, dh is out doing PA but dc wants to stay home. With me! I offered to go out for a couple of hours, to give them some space, but was told that I'd been missed and they want me around. Awww!
Have had a look for zero waste places nearby and have found a couple I want to visit. One is only a couple of miles away,  in a coffee shop. The other involves getting the tram.
We want to buy a 1:25000 OS map of the white peak for our next jaunt, and get dc involved in planning some walks. We're only there for 4 full days, so can't expect too much of them. But map reading skills, interpreting all the lines and how they fit in with the landscape and executing a walk you've arranged yourself is so satisfying 😊
Back to 'proper' exercise tomorrow. And my 'A year to clear' book (no point taking that one away with me, was there!?!)
