More hair bleach and washed up mermaid have been purchased today, as dc decided they wanted all their hair bleaching and then colouring. Stage 1 has been done this evening. Stage 2 (the colouring) will happen tomorrow.
Went to a contact lens trial with dc this afternoon and 100yards from the place, they get a nasty piece of grit in their eye. Which means they couldn't try them out in case of infection. Boo. But, as dc so sensibly pointed out, the place had ordered lenses that were too big for their eyes so they wouldn't have been able to try them anyway. Hopefully, we'll hear from them soon and can make another appt and actually try them out...!

Urg, contact lenses ... my eyes are so differently sized I can't actually see in stereo, my optician told me the images don't mesh together (I thought everyone was like that  :#) but a very positive net result is that one eye is very long sighted, the other very short - I've only felt the need for glasses in the last year or so, I feel very fortunate.  Best of luck to dc for the contacts!

Thanks karma. It's all on the back burner until they message me...
Today has been a good day. A good sesh at the gym with very few other people there. Some school work on Candide. Some time in the sun and in the paddling pool. Dc's hair got washed-up-mermaid-ed. The pool got emptied and wiped down and has been brought inside to finish drying out -expecting winds and rain tonight and tomorrow. Can't you tell that the sch hols started today round here...!
On the other hand, the wash machine is broken. Fortunately, we already had one ordered, to come on Mon, and my neighbour let me use her one. I might have washing machine envy...!

Yep, indeed I am, greent! I know that you had a bumper crop this year, but mine has once again been pitiful. I don't have the space or the inclination to give them what they need. In fact, today I have added the remaining plants to the compost bin (apart form the lovely planter ones as there's a tomato plant in there too that I want to at least give a chance to bring its 3 measly tommies to redness...)
The dead wood has been removed form the b'currant bush. I started sawing it off, but them it just broke off, dead. I have 2 bushes, both rather old. Not sure if a really really severe pruning would help them be healthier, loathe to do it as they are usually a predictable good cropper...
15 mins ago, there was a big thunder rumble and it is now pouring down. 'Thundersnow' was the description given to the graphic on metcheck - love it! No snow or hail today; just rain. Dh has just checked the water-collection pot in the loft, and it is still dry. Phew. Always good to know that the house is watertight after so many months 9years?) of incoming water

I treat my alpine strawberries as weeds  I'm not prepared to give them the care they seem to need, runners being pulled up *constantly*, and the fruits are tiny, when they exist.  Grrr.

It's been an indoors day for me today - constant rain, sometimes heavy, plus *lots* of thunder.

The new wash machine has been delivered. Yay! They said between 7+9, and were here at 6.50. Result.

Yeay for new washing machines and early delivery - can't be bad!

I'm looking at reducing my strawberry bed - half of it has been invaded by bindweed and creeping cinquefoil and I can't get that under control without removing strawberry plants
