I wish they would just stop with the false optimism . It'll be better by Easter. Brighter skies ahead. We will be back to normal by 2022.

For heavens' sake -a record number of cases today and another 744 people dead. 1 case per 32 people. 1 death per 986 people. That is not a good situation, Boris + co.

Yay. Finally. A colder day that required wearing a woolly hat. Dd and I braved a walk to sainz to ensure we had enough gf/df nuggets, and to find a magazine each. And it wasn't nearly as busy as we'd expected, so no bravery required, really.

Remembered we'd paid for some PNP stuff so got on with that for the step kids + gkids. Oops.

Discovered that microwave popcorn from 2017 is rather rank. And smelly. And now in the food bin...

I was super-posh on my walk: I didn't wear a bobble hat, I wore one of those bandeaux that just cover your ears.  Of course, a low flying tree hoicked it off my head, and I didn't notice, but I saw it on the ground on my return trip.

Here we are. Christmas Day itself. And no tree/santa smilies available to insert... Happy Christmas !

I was up at about 6.30, as I woke up. Have done my workout, stretched, washed and made coffee. And still they are a-snoring upstairs!!

Thank you karma! It has been a spiffing day so far

We had scrambled egg + smoked salmon on bagel for brekkie, steak + chips + lemon roulade for lunch, tea will probably be cheese and crackers (for dh; with apple for me). We are all super pleased with our presents and each have a stash of suitable chocolate! Plus some for re-gifting...

We went out for a short walk, and bumped into a lovely neighbour with her dog, so loitered for a chat. And on our way back, we saw her kids on their bikes +hubby out for a run.

The Italian Job is entertaining us - always a fun caper to watch.

Another walk today - we actually got into the woods. Along with half the local population, it seemed! It was gloriously muddy and good fun.

Dd saved me form chocolate gorging by simply saying that we're not doing chocolate overload today. She is useful to have around...

Am having a few thoughts about 2021. But they are mostly exceedingly low-key and local. No point having ambitious far-flung ideas... Back to 'Health, Wealth and a Life well-lived' methinks.

Some presents that make me smile:

-the step-kids getting me what I asked for - a charity donation

-big sis + bil sending us all little packets of stamps. This made me sooo happy!

-both me and dd being given a needlefelting kit each.

-dh deciding not only to replace my tablet (only a Cmas pressie because it came from a long way away and had to swim part of the route...) but also getting me a BRAND NEW f1tb1t. Now, I lurve my original one and have refused all offers to replace it with a wristy one as I don't like wear anything on my wrists and only wear a watch because I found one with a wide leather strap that runs all the way round my wrist. So this new one not only has a wristy thing, dh also bought the clip-on holders too (3 of them, as he knows I break them regularly!).

-some massage balls - some are spiky (ouchie - self-sourced from a ch shop) and then a double one for the back.
