Glad you had a good holiday.

That poor French lady, I'd have been frantic if I lost my bag even if I spoke the lingo, if I was in a foreign country I'd probably go berserk:eek:

That was very kind of you to help.

Thankyou Goldie. If I were ever to be in the same situation, I'd hope someone would step in and help. The best thing was the happy ending.

We finally dismantled dd's bed yesterday evening, so she slept on a mattress on the floor. I say 'slept' as she was in with us from 10ish til 12.30 when I put her back where she should be!

    Today, I'd better:
    - paint dd's skirting
    - paint 1 coat of dd's remaining walls
    - but before that I need to clear the bed out of there
    - and before that I need to clear the back of downstairs to store the bed parts
    - and before that I need to sweep the floor
    - then I need to do something about the back bedroom as it holds everything from dd's room but big sis and niece are coming to stay over tues and weds nights and we should put the futon down for them - gosh, a heck of a lot of floorspace needs clearing!
    - exercise
    - do a wash
    - wash up
    - tidy away last bits from unpacking
    - plan August's exercise and food
    - watch some of the Commonwealth games
    - start a Christmas list
    - ponder presents for dh's bday

And before all that, I shall put another coffee on and go mooching on mse :D.

The coffee priority got done first! Going through the list, I'm surprised at how much I have done. Not having to paint has helped, although the task has only been postponed for now.

Bed lady 'should' be coming to collect it tomorrow at 2pm. Won't be holding my breath....

I have signed up to ninjasavingkat's last monthly challenge. I'd already started my own 'August austerity' plans - but my title is more for alliteration!

I need to focus on food and what I'm eating, so have set a target of 20 sugar-free days, 20 grain-free days and 20 days of 10 veg. That should give me some leeway as we are away for 12 days.

I shall repeat Jiggle Free July with JUMP squats and JUMP lunges, as well as returning to ZWOWs on alternate days. *burpee alert*

I shall have 12 NSDs - I'd chosen this target already and it turned out that kat selected that too!

I shall also craft another 45 items - having had 10 days off, I'll need to get my head around that again.

And I shall get rid of 50 items - sell, bin, give away.

In money news, I was pleased to find that I'd been paid my exam board money (went straight into the 'don't touch it' savings account), child benefit and wages, all within a couple of days. Feeling rich! July will end with quite a surplus in my account (this does not include the monies mentioned above) which I shall split between the mortgage and booking a week away later in August (always assuming thatdh isn't sent on another course that week, despite booking it off!). It's a good feeling to have 'spare' cash to play with.

Just 1 more month of 'extra' money, then it'll be halved. But I'll still not spend it!

So, 34 days until I return to work. Hmmm. Prefer the thought of it being 'nearly 5 weeks' instead of days! Off to tweak and hone the plans for August...

Almost everything got done at some point - yay!

Bed lady failed to show, so I need to re-post the advert. My neighbour has offered to do it for me, so I may well take her up on that. 3 no-shows, 2 of them without telling me, is enough!

The sun came out so the washing dried well, and the paddling pool is now inflated and has a decent amount of water in it.

All the painting got done. Now it is up to dd to create her own masterpiece on the walls....

Big sis and niece have a bed to sleep in and sofas to sit on and food in their bellies. They're off on a jaunt tomorrow but we'll see more of them on Thurs.

1 bird got sewn up but is missing eyes, so none fully finished as yet.

Soup didn't get made; shopping got done but aldee's chill counters are still broken and may not be mended for several days. So dh has offered the car for me to go up to 1ce1and tomorrow. I said yes!

Another good day for eating - 2 in a row now! No sugar, but I did have oats at lunchtime and gf macaroni for tea. I'm out of my staple food: cottage cheese, so really NEED to get some, whatever the price tomorrow!

Am sitting with dd. Dh is out, big sis and niece are quietly pottering, and dd is quietly not sleeping! She told me today that she wishes she would fall asleep as soon as her head touches the pillow. Poor mite. I dragged her awake at 8am after she only went to sleep at 10pm, in the hope that she'd drop off more quickly tonight. We'll see....

The sun is shining, dh has left the car for me to use and dd is already up and about.

    - exercise
    - use the car to go to not-so-local shops and hope their chiller counters are functioning
    - make soup
    - do dd's bread, etc, order
    - make 5 birdies
    - re-advertise the bed
    - washing
    - tweak August's exercise so jiggle-free burpee day doesn't clash with ZWOW day
    - post stuff
    - order something for dh's bday. Something. Anything!!
    - cut back some of the plants
    - let dd loose with the paints in her room

I am soooo looking forward to having only 3 days at work in September. Maybe this time around, I'll 'achieve things' in the house and garden! Or get out for a run, and get to the point where it doesn't ruin me for the rest of the day!

On one of my days off, dd is signed up for 6 weeks of cheerleading before school, so I get an extra hour and my day starts early. I'm a morning person and can't wait!

Dd and I went up to do the food shop, and also trawl around the 8 charity shops there. Well, I'm all spent out now! Dare I itemise it...?

3/4 length trousers + a shirt for dh for his bday - if he's not keen on them, that's ok!

I discovered that a specific ch shop has a £1 rail that I'd never spotted before and which gave up 6 lovely items for crafting.

We found a load of Sylvanian Family bits - for£15. That'll be Cmas or bday then!

3 pairs of trousers, a hooded m+ s cardi and some sandals for me.

And the rest for dd! 3 books, swim cossie (kiddie bikini), barbie teeshirt, toys.

And I've probably missed out several things.

No painting has been done, but paddling pool fun has been had. We may get thunder storms tomorrow and I'm considering sitting out in the pool for it...! Painting is scheduled for tomorrow. I think it may be a joint effort by dd and me. Her painting and me doing all the fetching and carrying. And maybe, just maybe, tomorrow can be my first NSD in 12 days!

Grrr about the no show bed lady, frustrating all round! Hope you have a better offer soon.

Lovely story about your helping the French lady in distress, good on you, I love the pay it forward idea, doesn't take much sometimes but it can make such a difference to someone else.

Also loving that you're starting your Christmas planning. I'm hoping to do me a bit of that during my August weekends of bumming about rather than working all weekend :D. Is this crafting planning or general planning, you know, the when to bake my pudding kinda thing?

    Hello Hbbb,

The Christmas prep will probably simply be presents for now. We tend to have a super simple Cmas. No family expectations - never had any, so I'd REALLY struggle if we suddenly 'had' to do things a particular way!

Dd'a bday is mid January, so much of the planning is to ensure the two are separate and different and both chocka full of presents!

Big sis has made the right noises re my crafting stuff. When I said to her that I need to have an idea so that I can make something for all of dd's class for Cmas, she suggested waiting to see what doesn't sell at the fair! :D.

Last year I made oodles of jam, but a pesky blighter of a sycamore tree has put paid to a plentiful harvest. I've had a few blackcurrants - which I've eaten (!), not enough for even 1 pot. The rasps may be tougher.... And I've tasked dh with contacting the management company re the tree. It was't originally planted on the estete, and is massive. Its roots will soon easily reach 2 properties - ours included - and it needs removing. The groundsman said that he isn't allowed to touch trees withoutthe management's permission. I offered him a balaclava and silent chainsaw....!

Niece is off up to the big smoke to meet some friends and see Billy Elliot, then mooch around, and catch a 10pm train back up north. Big sis will mooch around the house and then meet niece + friends to catch the train together.

    Me? Not much planned really.
    - dd's bread order
    - paint dd's room
    - restore back bedroom to a study (once sis + niece have vacated it!)
    - make soup
    - email auntie
    - advertise bed again (still no contact from pesky lady, so she gets no more chances. (grrrr indeedy)
    - finish 5 birdies, to get July's target and sneak into August early
    - order dh something from his present list

Well, Hbbb, I hope your 'bumming around' weekends do materialise and give you and Mr Hbbb some quality time.
