Sounds like congrats all round ... to DD for superior talents and yourself for making it through to the end of term on those extra hours, even though you were stricken with severe burpees with alarming frequency! :T WTG you two!

Your to do list for the weekend is duly noted ... but what did I miss, I thought the last plan was to turn DDs wardrobe into Narnia or other such fun place? Did another bed catch her eye? x

    Thank you both! :D

Hbbb, I may just have skipped a bit re the bed, as it would have been dreary drivel for others. Or sounded like we pander to dd's every whim! Yep, the bed has been Narnia, but since removing the wardrobe doors, the only game played there has been the aptly named 'let's mess up my bedroom'. Dd's choice of title! She covers the floor with soft toys, cushions, pillows, her duvet. Then gets grumpy when I insist it gets cleared up. So it gets thrown in the wardrobe space, thus negating the creation of play area!

Anyhow, we found a bed that was acceptable (ha ha!) on amzn at a good price, of course. It's got a clearance of 80cm, so tons better than the rejected bed with only 75cm.... It appears to have lots of space under it. Quite where dd thinks her clothes will go is beyond me! And her toys. And all the rest of her gubbins.

I guess I must lead by example and declutter more seriously. I enjoyed the paper recycling I did the other night, and it made me realise that if I go over the same stuff soon, I shall no doubt cull it more heavily. Dh keeps asking me to check and check again if I want it! Grrrr! He's a right hoarder!

Off to bed. We have no plans to change our own bed anytime soon...

Ahhh, all is clear, shame Narnia didn't work as planned!

Hope you find somewhere for clothes ... if there's a chimney breast alcove available, curtain with a rail behind is a cost effective option (we have this in our bedroom ... looks better than it sounds)! Plus you can put hanging rail to DDs height for regularly worn clothes which she'll be able to keep in order and higher rail for less worn / special / out of season clothes?

    Happy bed making! x

    This weekend, we need to:
    - tidy the back bedroom
    - empty dd's bedroom
    - dismantle dd's bed and store it in the back bedroom ( need magical shrinking spell for this)
    - paint most of dd's walls white
    - paint on the other 5 (!) colours she wants
    - assemble dd's new bed, due on Weds

In between dismantle and assemble, dd will sleep on the mattress on the floor.

Soooo, we have tidied the back bedroom and moved 3/4 of dd's clothes into some other drawers. But still soooo much to do! I really need dh to be the one to dismantle the bed, as it's a massive job. He put it up, so should be able to take it down ok. I do anticipate some Anglo Saxon usage and in order to minimise that, I realise I'll need to do an awful lot of the pre-dismantling jobs myself.

Dd has assured me she will help with removing her toys. And that just leaves me with... Empty + remove little bookcase; empty and remove big bookcase; remove all games; remove rest of dd's clothes; remove mattress (for now); steer clear of room unless called (yelled?) for; make sufficient cups of tea with biscuits; put mattress back.

But that is tomorrow. What about today?

Dd loved tap and ballet and then we went to a local town to meet up with dh. He'd had an eye test at 9.30 and I had one at 12, by which time they were running late and I finally emerged at 1pm with a rumbly tummy! However, my prescription HAS changed, which is satisfying as my right eye hasn't been 'right' (ha ha!) for several months. New specs required, but not today.

Lunch was munched then dh said I should go to B00k World as they had bargains. Off we all duly trotted and there were indeed bargains to be acquired. Dd got 2 books, I got 2 sets of notelets (bogof), a new notebook, some buttons (yay!), some heart-shaped buttons, some ribbon (not as good as yours tho, Hbbb!). We also got 2 presents for when dd gets invites.

A couple of charity shops netted us 2 dvds for £1 each and a beach sun-protection top for dd for another £1.

Whilst sorting the back bedroom, I have found more paperwork to recycle and several books for the charity shop, and a fleecy kid's top (white with coloured stars on it) I'd put aside for crafting. That'll become more stockings - 5 are already cut out!

The buttons I bought have meant that 6 more robins are complete. There was a fabric, buttons and ribbons stall on the high street - their buttons were 10p each, which I decided was too much. Then I got the bargainous ones! Result!

Jiggle free day 12 completed - only this afternoon tho. I wasn't feeling too good this morning due to a takeaway curry last night. It affected me immediately last night - must've contained gluten - and this morning felt like my body was still trying to get rid of 'poison'. Anyhow, I'm all sorted now. That's the last time I let dh talk me into getting a takeaway!

I am now on a countdown to dd and my jaunt up north - 7 sleeps to go...

Nope, no chimney breast. About 80cm between end of bed and window, and about the same between the side of the bed and the wall. Tis not a large room! There is a big cupboard at the head of the bed, but the bottom 60cm are part of the stairwell and not accessible. So, not a space dd can use well at the mo. She has yet to ask to have the back bedroom...! A room she will be denied by dh!

You are up a trifle early, Hbbb. Thought you were supposed to go back to bed and seeing to the feathered ones?!

Dd and I have bailed out of church - again. We're such part-timers that we were asked last week if we were new! Nope, but I do kids klub every 4 weeks and dh does PA every 2 weeks. Add in the 'time off' and I can understand why we were asked! I acquiesced (ooh, check me with the fancy word) as she is so tired at the end of term.

Figured I should crack on with housey stuff. So I've done a wash, ironed, put on a special mucky-collared shirts wash, washed up, cleared both bookcases and all the games out of dd's room, made mayo and therefore made coleslaw too. Wehave no white paint in the cupboard under the stairs, so I now need to pop up to the loft.

I found a load of white paint in the loft :j.

I have painted a (very) small section of dd's walls - the wallpaper is the 'blown' sort, so requires quite a thick dollop of paint. I have realised that a 2" brush will make the job extremely painfully slow, so will return to the loft to unearth a roller.

However, since dd was playing out the front, I decided to start painting the hall! It needs a couple of coats of white to cover up the green, but doing it all white means I can also do the ceiling without having to care about neat joining edges! Dd came to help - think dh will be able to spot her handiwork...

    Plan for the week ahead:
    - no schoolwork!
    - sleep
    - eat well
    - jiggle free july plus tabata x3

    And in more detail...:
    Mon:
    - friend over for coffee + cake + chat
    - masking tape necessary bits in hall and dd's room
    - get rollers + accoutrements + 4" brushes? down
    - paint dd's full wall x1
    - paint inside of dd's door
    - log on to tps site
    - do my expenses!
    - craft 5 items
    - school runs

    Tues:
    - food shop
    - paint rest of dd's room
    - paint dd's ceiling
    - paint hall
    - finish packing lists
    - school runs

    Weds:
    - bed delivery :j
    - phone cottage re arrival time
    - school runs

    Thurs:
    - pension man returns

Ooph. That's enough forward planning for now! Off to the loft again...

The bed is still up. After ch, dh went back to a friend's house to help sort his laptop out. He was there so long that he got lunch there and got home at 4pm ish. I'd already passed through the miffed stage of 'you know I want the bed dismantling today as you have told me it takes several hours and you are working all the rest of the week, yet you have enough time to help someone else but not me.' Although I realise I am still harbouring miffed-ness, so need to sort that out before I say something I later regret!

:oBest laid plans and all that ... got stuck into other gubbins then was wide-awake so thought I'd MSE until I felt sleepy again. Trouble is, by the time that happened the students were stirring and it was time to make their lunches!

This is one of those things where people just don't notice what you do do, but as soon as you don't do it you seem to be called to account for it.

Acquiesced eh? Yup, there's fancy alright!

Oh dear, I know how this one goes ... known in our house as a Miss Piggy moment, even when totally justified (as in your case). I hope normal service is resumed asap and that you have a good evening.

Enjoy your plans for next week ... great to map it all out knowing that work just ain't happening! x
