Dd got herself up when she heard us moving about, and was dressed and eating her breakfast by 4.55. Wow! Dh went and made her breakfast and our coffees, so all I've had to do is get dressed and remind myself to pack the frozen stuff in the food bag.

That's so sweet! Hope it goes really well :) and I hope you manage to get some rest.
2023: the year I get to buy a car
  • We were in bed by 8.45 last night! And asleep soon after. And awoken at 9.25 by the phone. The lead teacher on dd's residential was calling us to let us know that she'd had a good day and had chatted with the catering manager and told us how the kitchen was set up for gf food. A lovely thoughtful call, much appreciated.

Then I got up at 6.15 to do a workout (zwow #8) before today's extra work (just half a day, phew) and at 7.20 dh received an urgent call to go to work to help out! He was there until midday.

I'm very pleased that the supply chappie brought in to work is a good'un and I have no qualms about letting him take over from me!

We met some friends for lunch and had a great time catching up. Since that I have vegetated on the sofa and done a little needlefelting. So, nowt too ambitious!

  • Well, I was glutenised yesterday so my vegetating on the sofa turned into poorliness. 'Fortunately' the food continued through my digestive system rather than return the way it went in, as it was threatening to do at first.

However, I still went in to work, just did not eat until now. I was okay this morning with water and coffee, so it wasn't all doom and gloom! Cucumber and cheese have been consumed. Rockin' it!

It must have been food from the restaurant, but how to 'prove' it, is impossible. Both my main and dessert were labelled as gf. And we double-checked with the waitress. Ah well.

The supply guy has settled in well and is enjoying our school. Phew. And he is available for a while. Double phew. So I am back to just my own work. Triple phew.

Now to finalise my appraisal bumf, possibly do some marking, and then kick back and rest.

Sympathies on the food issues - I'm glad for your sake it didn't return the way it went in!

  • So am I Karma, so am I. If it had, I would not have made it in to work today. As it is, I probably should not have gone in, but I knew that it wasn't a bug or catching, so ignored that regulation...

  • Very happy to have finished work for the week.

Very happy to have been able to do a workout - zwow #9.

Very happy still to eat simple foods.

Very very happy that dd will be home by this time tomorrow.

  • Went out for a walk with dh this morning. Originally we talked about going out through the woods and along a footpath to have a coffee in a pub (I'm rather off eating out at the mo...!). However, we ended up just going round the woods, plenty of ups and downs, met 2 lovely dog-owners with lovely dogs, and enjoyed doing 2.7 miles instead of over 6. It was great to be out in the sunshine and warmth.

I have written a letter to the manager of where we ate and where I was glutenised, requesting that they re-check the ingredients of the dishes I had.

    I have done zwow #10. 2 rounds in 10m30.

I'd also like to mow the grass and strip some wallpaper in the back bedroom where it all got mouldy. Better to have bare wall than mouldy paper, methinks.

But really, all I'm doing today is enjoying not being at work, and counting down until dd gets home :D.

I feel for you being glutenised :(, takes me a week to recover. _pale_

Even with non-gluten-containing-ingredients dishes I think we always are at risk from a lack of care around cross contamination. It's like Russian roulette!

  • Thanks XSpender :D. My reaction is as nothing compared to dd's - she is violently and repeatedly sick for about 6 hours, poor thing. Which is why we sent all her food with her this week!

I've posted the letter. I've eaten there a few times and had no issues. Until now... We don't eat out much at all, so I'd been pleased to find a good place... Ah well. Back to eating in!

I have mowed both front and back and am stripping wallpaper in 15 min batches. It's only 2 widths' worth, but we stuck it on well!
