I'm considering cancelling my gym membership once my initial 12 month contract is over but o will need some heavier home weights. Problem is I'm not as focused at home, easily get distracted and end my workouts early. Guess I'll just have to be more disciplined and the bonus will be that I can work out after work instead of forcing myself to the gym afterwards. It's manageable in the summer but the darker winter nights are a different story.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0

Cath - what weights do you currently use? And what equipment?
(I have 1k, 3k and 5K DB; 8K and 12K KB, a sandbag (currently at 10k but I can add to it or balance a db on it! to increase), a stability ball (dd's bouncy hopper!), a pull-up bar)
I've been inspired over the years by Zuzka Light. I 'found' her back when she was half of Bodyrock and have kind of followed her ever since. I had the sense to download many of her workouts from utube, and also to write out the instructions too.
She now runs zuzkalight.com and although much of the content needs you to be a member of her zgym (I'm not) but it's only $9.99 per month. But she covers so much more than just workouts. There's a lot of free content.
Also, I'd recommend looking at litealloy.com for zuzka workouts.
And I think that what attracted me to her workouts was that most of them were only 12 mins long. But boy! they work you hard.
I've decided that if the gym side causes me too much stress, then I'll just think of it as a swimming membership. And I only have to give 30 days notice. And if dd stops lessons, then we'll prob go much less anyway...
But today I have no thoughts of exercising. Dd spent much of the night coughing. So much so that at about 12.30 I took her into the spare room and we both slept(ish) on the futon. She was much better with company. And today she is still a coughdrop, so I've kept her off church.kids klub. And I'm coming down with something myself...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -

Dd had a much better night's sleep - and therefore so did I. She is only using half the number of tissues, and coughing much less, so I sent her into sch.
Then I posted off my expenses; popped old footwear into the right bins; bought a LOT of choc bars and 3x fairtrade roses from aldee (eek - £34 - gone - pouf!). Cadged a lift home from dh, who'd gone to aldee to do the big shop while I did the sch run, and he was 'trapped' in the basement car park as the delivery lorry manouevred to give him space to wiggle through.
Then I decided to go back up and get a nice wooden picture frame to house part of an old OS map that covers the school and the rough area where the Head lives. I'll get dh to photocopy an A3 section and trim it down to the frame. And I'll prob give her the original map too as I've no need for it.
I have made up 12 stacks of choc bars so far, with enough bars for another 3 or 4 stacks. They are all tied up with a ribbon, using up some of my stash.
Now I just need dd to choose 3 bunnies for people and do her thank you notes.... Then wrap. Ah, and get another pic frame for something I want to do for the dep head.
Collected dd at 2 as they had an open afternoon to go and see their work. I want her to do some notes; she is playing on her tablet...!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Glad dd is betterMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0 -
So am I, Watty!!! So am I!!!
She was better enough to go to her swim class, so I also did my lengths - about 28, I think. She has come home tired but energised; I have flopped!
She has her leavers' assembly for parents tonight, so we'll be back out again soon. She wants me to film it so that her step bro + sisters can see it. I may delegate that task to dh as I'm prone to thinking I'm recording when in fact I have switched the device off...
Saw my counsellor his morning, always a good thing. I'll not see him now until Sept. I'm looking forward to a long break, but am glad that there is a return date. I guess that shows that I'm not ready to stop just yet.
Just had an email from dsd to say that she's coming over with dgs to the Eyelovwite for the second part of August to stay with her mum. Guess what we'll be doing at the end of August then...!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -

Glad dd seems to be on the mend. Almost end of term for her but I know end of year 6 is not even for them.
Gym wise, I tend to do free weights of 10kg shoulder raise, 5kg lateral raise, 10kg chest press. Machines wise I do 120kg leg press, 90kg adductors, 40kg leg extension, 35kg lower back row and 35kg lat pull down. Hoping I can find a good set of dumbbells and maybe a barbell or body pump bar that don't take up a lot of space. Enjoying running again though which I had stopped. Can't see me pounding the pavements yet but the treadmill is okay for 32 minutes!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0
