Apple muncher's number crunching

Not having much luck with gyms recently! Went to the one I've signed up to, got there nice and early (well, 8am) to find that on a Thurs, it only opens at 9. D'oh! And dh had even asked me what time it opens, and I'd blithely replied, 'oh 6.30.' So I trotted home (took 24 mins) and did my workout here instead. Am all worn out now.
Mum had a second visit from the ambulance people during Tuesday night. Her back was so painful that she was yelping. I do think that she pulled a muscle when she fell and did her chin, but that it didn't begin to really hurt immediately. Anyway, she's on painkillers, still at the home, and was talking about having 'old person' back pain when I saw her on Weds morning. Which suits me just fine!
Dh and I are out for lunch today. Looking forward to it.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Dh had a call last night at 9, reminding him that he's giving some training this morning. We'd both totally forgotten, so were v glad for the call. So that's what he's doing this morning.
I'm going to try the gym. Again. Just a short arms workout and then I fancy a little swim and shower. I'd need to change into my cossie to shower anyway, as the set-up isn't set up for naked showering!!
This morning, after returning from the gym, I shall try to
-clear out the 4 bags of stuff I brought home from work, or at least streamline some of it
-empty the paddling pool
-knit a couple more posy flowers
-pick more blackcurrants
-eat lunch
-leave at 1.30 to collect dd. It's been odd without her, but not too bad. I didn't 'notice' her absence too much on tues and weds, as I was travelling myself. And yestetday was 'just one more day'.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Sounds good, apple. What do you do with the posies that you knit? I do miss knitting ...2023: the year I get to buy a car0

I'm knitting them as gifts for teachers/TAs. My head had bought a knitted bee and ladybird at my last 2 school fairs, so I made her a posy to go with them. She was well chuffed. And what is so nice for me is that she saw the connection, and appreciated what I'd done. (I also gave her a stack of small choc bars from aldee, which she also appreciated!)
Unfortunately, I gave dd's head and dep head posies last year, so really really need inspiration for them for this year (yikes - 1 more week ...). But her TA and another teacher who has been great are the ones getting posies this year.
My gym visit was awesome. Just me and a lady on the treadmill for the first part, so I strutted my stuff (:rotfl:) at the weights end, with the 6k dumbells! It made me realise that it would have been hard to do a workout if there were more than 2 other people using weights. It's not a big area! Then I did 12 mins non-stop on the treadmill. I didn't swim, but had a great shower.
Turns out that my 4 bags from work were only 2 + the one I'd taken to bham. So I have emptied the bham one and looked inside the others. Am flying!
And when there's next an advert break on the Tour, I'll go and water the garden... Meanwhile, I'll choose pipecleaners for the posy stems.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
We have collected dd. She had a fantastic time but is exhausted. The food side of things didn't go brilliantly though. And she is also full of cold.
She approves of the posies. Phew!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Dd has a stinking cold, poor thing. Though she managed to sleep for over 12 hours, which was much needed.
We heard today that the dance exams due to happen on 26th of this month have been postponed until Sept. Sigh - I'm not-so-secretly hoping that dd will give up classes.... But it did mean that there was no incentive to go to class today, so dd opted out. And we went and had her ears pierced instead. She is happy!
We also found a bunch of Thomas books and an annual to send to dgs. He may be in Canada, but he can jolly well get into Thomas!
We have done a list of teachers/staff to say thank you to. And most have next to them what they'll be getting: a thank you letter; a posy (up to 4 now - I've been busy knitting); a stack of choc bars; bunny; flowers; owl; Epsom bath salts... Dd has been tasked with the thank you notes tomorrow.
A thoroughly lazy day, again. I think I might have overdone the exercise yesterday as I was feeling decidedly below-par...
However, I have set up my people's pension account. The figures don't add up at all, but I'll let it sit there and do its thing for a bit.
And we have ordered dd's new sch uniform. Rather costly. Gulp. But we can't send her to school naked now, can we!
A busy week ahead - roll on FridayNST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
You've done a lot today! Take it easy, especially since you're feeling under par - don't want you picking up what DD's got. Have a nice evening2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Hope dd is feeling a bit better, and glad she enjoyed the trip.
Hope the uniform order isn't too painful.
The gym sounds great. I'm still trying to do home workouts by incorporating the beach - fine in summer I suppose winter will be a different story!15/5/12 Paid off Mortgage 1 (£220k) Bought Dream House:www: Dec 13 - Mortage 2 -£116,508. 15/7/18 Mortgage Free Again :j
Progress not Perfection0 -
I'm not sure that I'll carry on with the gym longterm, to be honest. The main benefit is the heavier weights. And the pool - if I'm already going swimming with dd 3 or 4x per month, then I only need to go 2 or 3x more to break even. But - and it's quite a bit but - the weights part of the 'gym ' is so tiny that once 3 people were working there, you'd have to lift in unison to avoid hitting someone!
I'll persevere during July and August and possibly Sept, as that'll give me a good idea if I'm likely to keep using it when back at work. Maybe I should just look at it as a pool, and swim a bit more...
And I think that I enjoy working out at home so much - huffing and puffing as much as I like, wearing what I want to (esp going barefoot), not having to travel... I'm talking myself out of it, aren't I?!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
The uniform order was £345. A nice run of numbers! All of it logo'ed (sp?) And from the official suppliers. We'll get most of it back, though. But in Sept. And still need to source quite a lot of other items - blouses, mouthguard, socks, tights...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0
