Got our 6 monthly mortgage info through today and dh was rather impressed that I've generated 4 pages of figures! Mostly Tilly Tidies, but am now wearing my smug face!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0

I so wish they had a smilie for that A*M! Well done!
Great result with the thrifty shopping and as for the mild aberration of lilac wool, well it's an accident that could happen to anyone! :rotfl:

I am soooo lucky I didn't come home absolutely LADEN with materials and crafty stuff!!! Thanks for letting me off the wool - the lovely lady let me have it for 50p instead of £1. It's 100% nylon, which isn't my favourite, but then I'm not knitting for me!
I hope to do my 100 items mindmap soon. Am just letting it vegetate and cogitate on it for now in the hope of making it clearer! Have subscribed to a thread that gives loads of ideas... Dangerous...!
I so wish there was a smug face smilie too!.
Another centre done and dusted. Discovered another one hiding in the pile - grrr - but it's missing lots of paperwork I requested 10 days ago. Humph. If I can do the original planned paperwork, then I'll be satisfied for now.
We HAVE to go to aldee later as dd has seen some nix and vests she likes. Always useful! And she-who-must-be-obeyed (oh, how I wish that were me!) has decreed it, so off we'll trot.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
All moderating paperwork done except for 1 centre who've still not sent it all + 1 centre that's with my team leader. So I can forget about it for today - yay!
Took dd to buy jamas and vests, then got the paper for the aldee voucher, went to the PO, and dropped in to 2 charity shops. I caved in at the 2nd one and bought 2 items to use the material. Oopsie!
Dd's friend came over for a few hours so I did some pattern cutting out and cut out some fabric for a bird. Let's see if I can make it look like it should....
The back of dd's jumper is 5 rows from completion. The lavender bag got an attempt at an embroidered sprig of lavender on it, which I reckon turned out ok.
Today we are off to the 100 Acre Wood at some point. Finally!
I still have much work to do for sch, but I am always able to postpone that - even if I shouldn't.
OK time to get lunches ready + persuade dd and dh to get up...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
So, we 'did' the 100 acre wood. Twas much smaller than we remembered it being! But we found Eeyore's house - and a second one that belongs to his cousin, according to dd - and also Piglet's house where dd left him a note. So sweet!
Paid more to the mortgage today. Mid-May, it occured to me that we just might get it into the 69k bracket if I plotted a lot. Yesterday I paid over 600 - from my extra earnings, thinking I'd pay the other 200 today. So, today I went and paid over 600 again. Plonker! It's just like the month where I paid an extra 400 + had to live without it for a month! You'd think I'd have learned my lesson.
Anyhow, with my extra money + my planned money + our usual payment, we are now just 57.71 short of 69999. And that's because of the pesky interest that got added on - grrr!
I think tomorrow I shall have another look and find another 60. I realise I am blessed to be able to do this, and I also realise that I really have no idea what it is to HAVE to scrimp and save. All I'm doing is being careful and keeping tabs on what I spend.
Sometime, we need to work out just how much dh is paying out on public transport in an average month. I'm pretty sure it's nowhere near enough to warrant another car, but maybe I could bike one day a week - ha ha ha no! Not with getting dd ready for 7.30 and having to be at work by 8.30 - presentable and coherent! Tho that's a tad neggy, so maybe I should dig out the wheels and give it a whirl... Or rather, a spin.
Am currently sitting with dd, as has become the norm now. But it gives her peace of mind and helps her - eventually - get to sleep. I've still managed to fit in 30 mins work this evening, which is 30 less to do tomorrow.
Hmm - fell short of the 'no sugar' target from 2pm onwards. Am well stuffed and don't exactly feel good for having done it.Oops.

A little more work has been worked.
A workout has been workouted. :j
And £58 has been found to take the mortgage down to £69,999.70. :T
Not too bad a day so far!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Sitting here with a peaceful dd and some lovely birdsong outside. Relaxing!
Have just spent a little under £112 for dd + my train ticket to the Newcastle coast in July. Gulp! I looked at the East Coast site, which was offering discounts, but only on singles, which tied me to very precise trains. The return price was the same on thetrainline site, so I went via £co and will get a few pennies back. I didn't want to be faffing with trains, as we're on the coast so will be getting the metro back to the mainline station. And we may want to stop over in Durham. So, all in all, I paid the 'extra' £25 ish for flexibility.
That's rather a big chunk of June's money gone already!
Dh has agreed to look at what he's spending on travel to work and to see if he can cut it down. The only time I could cycle to work is the day when he takes dd to school anyway, and therefore gets an offpeak ticket, saving £3.50. Probably not worth the effort for now.
But that should not deter me from getting out my bike from the garage and giving it a once over. Maybe just to the end of the road and back...!
June sees 5 bdays, all before the 8th. Dd's friend was sorted out extremely cheaply! Tricky friend is nearly done... Easy friend is easily sorted. Big sister's needs wrapping and posting. So does dad's. Hope there are no more...
Crafting confession time: unable to wait for June, the back of dd's jumper is complete, so is 1 lavender bag. And I dusted down the sewing machine to try out a couple of small hanging hearts, using 15p's worth of fabric and ribbon to make both! They are stuffed with the innards from an old pillow and just need stitching up one side. Am thinking of making them into a vertical string of hearts.
Had a lovely wander up to the shops without dd for once! Came back laden- 8 pints of milk, 32 cheese triangles, 12 eggs, big tin of syrup (for flapjack making). Shouldn't need to shop til Tues in aldee now.
filia stertit - remember that one? Time for me to go!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Sitting here with dd, I'm aware how peaceful a day it has been. We skipped church, as dd didn't wake up til about 9.30 (I know, we could have woken here earlier!) and her afternoon party was with a magician and pretty controlled. Much less screaming and shouting and running round like a loony than other big parties. Dd has said it was the best party shehas ever been to - praise indeed!
I cut out a couple of hearts this afternoon and may see how they turn out if I hand sew the seams. The ones I did yesterday seemed too small and fiddly for the machine to do them properly without pulling them.
It's been a great day for drying the washing - shame I had none to wash!
Dd and I are back to school tomorrow - that will certainly be a shock to the system... She has her class's talent show on Thurs where she'll be dancing to some music from a Barbie film. She says that she has no need to practice!
I am relieved to have done the bulk of the moderating before returning to work. Now the focus is on reports and internal exam marking for this week. Plus I have 2 meetings after work, and dh may be out for 3 evenings. Such fun! Shame I can't write the reports while sitting with dd, but I need the laptop for that, which is old and rather noisy. Will just have to fit them in earlier in the day and chill out now.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Ugh, it's a grotty morning out there! The rain is back and looks as if it is here to stay for a few days.
Dd doesn't want to wake up - and who can blame her! But she didn't go to sleep til after 10pm, so it's not surprising. I can expect a tired and grumpy bundle at the end of the day!
I have a plan of action for today. The work day is split into 3 sessions, for exams. I am invigilating session 1, and have one of my exams during session 2, so can mark that during session 3.
I expect the computers in the staff room will all be in use, so will need to find a bolt hole for sessions 2 and 3. We all have reports due on the 12th so I can start them? I've also packed a little bag with fabric, pattern, pins, scissors, needle and thread - ha ha! As if I'll have spare time for that!
REALLY must poke dd awake otherwise we'll be in a mad rush!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
