Dd's eyes have thankfully stayed the same, so no new specs needed for her.

But she did need new 'go faster' trainers for general wear. So m+s provided them for a decent price. Plus some more school socks. Exciting stuff.

We have also had a great ch shop haul! A LPS boxed set for just £2.50 which has never been played with. A warm coat for dd for 5. I got myself 4 books for £2 - 3 on running/anatomy (not that I'm running, but I still dream of returning to it...) and the other on how to deal with 'the enemy'. Probably my best haul was 2 lots of wool: one lot of 6x 100g balls of 50/50 polyester/wool to knit up on 15 mm(!!!) needles. And the other has no labels but looks to be for 9-10 mm needles and was £5. We bought dgs a hand knitted cardi for Cmas and it irked me to have to pay for one! His bday is in May so I'm planning on knitting him a larger one myself...

So... strictly speaking, TWO new items bought today, both for dd but both were sorely needed.

Am all shopped out now!

Woke up to beautiful sunshine. At 8am! Only because dh had a dream that someone was at the front door and he had to go and check it out. Goodness knows what time it could have been otherwise...

Off to the Science Museum at some point today. The free science museum.

We didn't leave the house until after 10. Seems like everyone else decided to go out then too. The train up to town was p a c k e d. But dd found us seats . The tube was even more packed - but we only went 2 stops. The queue outside the sci mus was humungous - over 30 mins, so we looked at the natural sci one - also looooonnng. So we popped into the V&A. A good move. A kids event kept dd busy building a shelter for her doll and we had out photo take (for FREE :T) in a winnie-the-pooh style silhouette. We eschewed the w-t-p exhibition as it cost £8. Each.

Lunch was munched by the pond/water feature, sitting in the sun. Then back out and the sci mus entry was clear so in we went. I find it a tad disappointing every time we go (and some of the low-level/blue light lighting in some rooms makes it really difficult for my eyes to see), but we did see all of it and quite enjoyed ourselves.

The highlight of dd's day was probably seeing the 'bubble man' making ginormous bubbles and some with smoke in too. He earned his pennies.

Money saved by using our F&F railcard for the travelcards. But dh had to buy himself a coffee (and cake!) as he had no bread for sarnies and although I'd usually suggest he uses dd's bread, her supplies are so low there was none spare for him.#

Looking forward to a day in tomorrow. Must go to sainz for supplies for dd and will combine it with the library. Then we'll watch m1n1ons 3. Ooh, unless the rugby is on - our £1 for 12 issues has finally run out so I must check the EPG before starting the film .

I finally got myself out in the garden this afternoon and tidied it up slightly. I opted to limit my time out there, as I was moving some bricks around and didn't want to wreck my hands. It was good to be out in the sunshine.

I had to do 2 bunny slope workouts today, having not done one yesterday. Ooph. But I managed it. I am still on track to get all 20 done this month, but have to maintain doing 5 per week, which is a challenge.

Made some gf df 'reeses' choc thingies today. And cloud bread - only did 1/3 of the recipe and ate it all! And gf df choc chip cookies - original recipe from dear Lilty. And I washed up too, so am feeling very smug.

Dd has finally decided to build her Mayan temple out of cardboard boxes stuck together and then painted. Dh suggested sugar cubes - rejected. I suggested making flat jelly and cutting it up - considered but also rejected.

Did a little more y11 prep. I reckon that I don't need to do as much as I think I do - or certainly not at this point, which is good.

Dd bought me a teeny tiny 150 piece jigsaw for Val day. It is a b***er to do as it is so small and the pieces slide around a lot. i shall be glad to finish it!

Off to tilly tidy some pennies - haven't done it in a while.

Kids klub went well and I wasn't exhausted by it, which is a win.

Also got some useful and encouraging info about a camping bible weekend in May - re food , which is a BIG issue for dd. So I am more comfortable about the whole thing now.

Bunny slope 12 was done whilst dd was in the bath - protesting most vociferously that she most certainly did not need one. And nor did she need a hairwash. I won .

Up and out by 6.20 tomorrow as there may be roadworks on the way. Mondays are always tight for time as we have a meeting at 8.20 and I have breakfast at work and go straight into mentoring and then teaching after the meeting. I need a little time to get my head in gear!

Pesky birds. Tweeting away - loudly - around 5am. I was half awake anyway, but they fully woke me up. So I was up at 5.40. Ugh. Easy journey to work and although it was a whirlwind of a day, I 'achieved' things, as well as doing all my teaching. Go me . Dh made tea and I'm now fit only for a little reading and then my bed.

Dd had a great day at school - it seems that the days of her dreading Mondays are behind us, which is good.

Survived the pesky colleague. Long history - 10 years - and no improvement, so I just avoid as much as possible whilst trying to remember that said colleague is a human being with their own issues and needs and also needs some TLC at times.

Walked the first 2 miles to work today, which felt good. It was a day of catching up with people, so all good. But I'm not yet caught up on my admin - though I do have a list....

Dd was picked up by a lovely friend after school and then dropped home once I was back (dh was out from 6.10am - 7.10pm!)

Been pondering NI contributions. I don't know how much/many years I need to pay to get a full state pension (assuming they still exist when I get to that ripe old age...)Need to research... Esp as I've done more part-time work than full-time.
