Glad the head knew about that email. Nice you didn't have to do anything but that it was somehow put out there for you. Good job.
Am loving the hyacinth pot idea. Where do you buy the cellophane for wrapping them?

You can also (apparently) buy smaller amounts in H0bbycraft. I have a HUUUUGE roll from a florist :)

Fab. Thanks. have looked on line, and it seems a really cheap way of glamming up a gift or two. Great plan :)

    Ooph.

Foodbank items all bought and delivered. Think I totalled 25 items, which is what I wanted to do.

Sainz shop done with one of their cheeky - nay, rude - vouchers of £7.50 off £50 spend. We are v stocked up on gf/df now.

Bunny slope workout 1 done and a nice hot bath afterwards.

Off to sch via the street market where the plant stalls were both there. Yippee. I now have 4 cyclamen, 4 pots of 3 hyacinths each, 1 kalanchoe and 1 cmas cactus, all for £15. Result. A gf brownie also got purchased.

Then on to my sch cmas fair where I sold £116 of stuff. About £50 of that is going to a charity. It still doesn't look like I have any fewer crafted items! Dh and dd made the journey over, which was lovely. We are all now rather worn out.

Yet we cannot rest! Tomorrow is dance classes day then dd and I are going straight up to bham, seeing mum/gma on the way to the house. If the trains are playing silly boogers again, I shall simply buy a ticket that allows any route. Really could do without having to do that though...

Sunday, we may see mum again, but I think we'll be so tired out by then that we'll just journey back home.

For once, I have no crafting to do on the way. Eek! Must rectify that tomorrow morning...

I won a raffle prize at the fair :j. I chose an electronics kit for dd to play with. She is so chuffed. She also loved having a go on various stalls - came back with pencils, haribo, a cute monkey head keyring thingy, and a make-your-own unicorn. Via a friend, I 'won' a smellies toiletries bag (dd'll give this to a friend for cmas) and a bottle of funny cranberry? fizzy stuff (will gift this to a red wine boffin friend!). Total spend of just £6ish. Result.

Am sitting on a cushion with my back against a warm/hot radiator. Bliss.

The trains were running perfectly this afternoon. Nice. We've seen mum and given her some slippers - she only had one! Then walked the 30+ minute walk to the house. Grabbed some toast and out to the local woods where we caught the tail end of a choir singing carols and had a little look at the stalls. I did buy 2 coconut pyramids, as they were both gf and df. Then we popped to a friend to drop off a pot of hyacinths. Then to the house for tea. Ooph.

We are snowed in!:snow_grin Dd and I . In bham. No chance of going anywhere other than on foot. No buses. No taxis. And quite possibly no trains if we ever made it to the main station.

If I were alone, I'd trek the 1.5 miles to the nearest cross city train station to try to get to town. And if there were no trains, I'd just trek back to the house. But dd is with me and only has her trainers so she would get cold wet feet.

And we have limited food supplies! Although both the shops here are open, they do not sell gluten- and dairy-free stuff.

And today's forecastbis pretty much continuous snow, tomorrow's forecast is sub-zero temperatures so it aint gonna melt away. Will we even get home tomorrow, eh?

I am ridiculously anxious. Unnecessarily so. But nevertheless, I am. Part of me feels that we should at least attempt travelling. Then I realise that I can't drag dd out. But I feel guilty at not being able to get back for work tomorrow. Or maybe even longer...

Off to play 'check the trains' again.

Such conflicting info. Trains seem to be running to wfj, but yet am advised NOT to travel today... Once again, I make the decision to stay put... until I try looking again... then I'll realise it'll be dark soon... so I'll stay put... Sigh.

I did wonder whether you'd have problems today - Bham is an hour North of here and both OH and I know people there and have seen the pics on social media of the snow increasing from Friday - and the interview with and dashcam footage of Bham motorway police...

I'm not sure how limited DD's food options are (with regards to likes/ dislikes, as opposed to DF/ GF dietary limitations) - can you cobble something (even if a little weird and unconventional for 'normal' meals) together from the local shop for a day or so? (hopefully not more :()

Work can wait - schools up and down the country will have staff 'stuck' in places. Far better you and DD are safe and warm (and hopefully fed..) xxx

Thank you so much for this, greent. (You have made me cry!) You areso right to mention that it is what dd will eat as oppose to what she can. We did go to the local shops for eggs + potatoes + ham + grapes for me, as that leaves all the stuff she'll eat as only needing to feed her. And if we are stuck here for longer, I'll leave her with a lovely neighbour who she knows, and trudge down to the big azda for more food for her.

What's funny is that dh hardly believed me this morningwhen I told him about all the snow as they'd only had a smattering.

Stay where you are warm and safe. With potatoes and eggs you have food choices....Spanish tortilla would be my fav if you can find onions. And ...if it fails you have an omelette. I always giggle when I remember my Spanish friend teaching me to make tortilla .... she said if it did not work it would be an omelette drawing out each syllable to make it clear that this was a toe curling insult :rotfl:

Seriously stay warm and dry. You have options and it will be fine for school and work to miss you and dd for a day or two if needed. People will be stuck all over the place so I hope you can enjoy it and think of it as an adventure
    Sending love
