Back into internetland. Boy is there a lot of catching up to do!

It was sad to leave mil (she has a tumble drier with an internal light!) but her neighbours furthrr up the track call her daily and pop in on their way home from work, so she is in safe hands.

Am not sad to leave behind the cigarettte smoke. All'our clothes smell of it, but we can wash them where we are now.

San Antonio. Of Alamo fame. Dh has told us we are going there tomorrow! After doing the River Walk/Paseo del Rio. Hope it IS a walk as recent exervise levels are dire.

Is dd sleeping? Ish. Getting to sleep is still an issue - once she got over the jetlag. Still awake now, at nearly 9pm. So no change there!

Off to mooch and do a little catching up...

    Trains.

We are near a train line where we are staying.

    The trains are very long.

They have to sound their horn every time theygo past a road junction (as they don'thave level crossings) or livestock. We are in a district that is full of roads crossing the line, so it is blimmin noisy.

Went to bed at 10.30 (far too late but was gorging on mse!), heard several trains, then got woken at3am by a train and a buzzy, whining thing (mozzie?? Ugh!), then again at 6, 6.30... Eventually dd got woken at 7ish.

Anyhow, have had a good coffee and a wonderful blasting shower, so feel better. Time to put on another brew...

By the way, after some v hot weather - too hot to be out for more than a few mins - it turned chilly and we had rain all through Easter Sunday!

River Walk - done. Dh found out where to catch the bus and for a total of about 5 dollars, we all got there and back. Driving and then parking would NOT have been much fun, so well done dh!

Plenty of walking, makes a good change. And it got rather hot at times. The Alamo was, well, a small stone building with a huge queue to get into. We wandered round the 'grounds' and chilled out in Alamo Square, read a little about the what and why of the Alamo (still rAther fuzzy on Mexican/Texan/Republican delineation...!), walked to a playground that was being totallt re-developed (ie a building site) much to dd's disappointment, and ended up having a Ben + Jerry's. Not as good at Bluebell ice cream, or the ones we had in Fredericksburg... Butmuch much betterthan macdo's!

Now back home, a wash is on - to try to rid some stuff of cat hairs and ciggy smell. If it works, I'll do another lot later.

We need to get some energy up to go to the supermarket - a drive, not a walk. But we just can't run out of dd's food!

Howdy Lilt! Thanks for popping by. :D

San Antonio zoo. Hmmm. Won't be returning. Was especially hard work for dd in 30°C and high humidity. She enjoyed it but we rushed the wild safari animals as we searched for shade - and it's only early April. Summer must be REALLY hot!

Last day tomorrow and we plan to locate a mall, and shop! A la Lilty!! Purchases to be made ONLY if they spark joyousness. Dd agrees :D.

    We are near two trainlines.

So two lots of trains going nearby.

I have identified two sorts of drivers: those that use the horn at every road junction (so about 51 blasts), and those that just run some of them together into a longer one (so about 38 blasts). Oh what fun can be had throughout the night...!

Shopping expedition complete. Located a thrift store and got dd a doll + clothes, and a cycling/lightweight jacket for me. Then went a v long route - because we managed to get onto the interstate instead of the road alongside it, oopsie - to a mall. Initially underwhelming, it did improve and dd has BRAND NEW LIGHTING UP sketchers, and I found some sandals and casual trainers (pink + purple)

Am all shopped out! Doesn't take much nowadays. My only want/need is to get myself some decent off road running shoes so that I can/will go up to the woods and maybe further afield. Trouble is, it is sooooo long since I bought such footwear that I baulk at the prices!

I want to set myself up a 12 week 'improvement' plan. I'd like to call it 'transformation' but feel that might be overambitious! I am currently far too chubby, porky, basically too fat! 12 weeks from Sunday 12th April takes me to Sat 27th June. Will have to have a ponder.

Overambitious, eh? Probably better to have high expectations, as falling short of them will still get me further than aiming for mediocre ones...

Hello there my lovely. The trainmen is close (ish) to where I live now and I sometimes when I have the window cracked here the trains beeping as they enter the cliffs. it is a busy freight line and they obviously chug right through the station which makes a lot more nice than those coming in to stop then starting again. So you have my sympathy. I quite like it but the form blasting sounds horrible.

Your 12 week plan sounds fab. I wish I had the motivation :( I really need to stop eating rubbish but I just can't face it.

Lots of love. Will be attempting to post your parcel ON the 10th which should get it there on time :) xx
