stash busting - I will use my mountains b4 buying more!

On the plus side I have donated my Xyron sticker making machine to the charity shop.
I have however been visiting an elderly neighbour who has herself been stash busting her mountain of craft stuff. I headed home with a carrier bag full of lovely card and papers.
It would have been rude to refuse but the space I had made using up stuff has just been refilled.
I am getting better at using up stuff since doing this challenge. Normally I hold on to nice papers thinking that I am saving them for the perfect project but I am making sure I use the nice papers!Stashbusting 2019 - 230/3000 -

I also obviously don't need any more paper or card but it would be nice to have more for free

I too was like this (and probably still am a little bit but I'm getting much better. I am however challenging myself to not cut into a new sheet of paper or card until I have checked the scrapbox (which has grown to pretty much a mountain recently it seems
I manage to craft 18 Friendship Teabags last night. I know someone asked what they were last time I made them and I sort of explained but I am in the process of setting up a new blog charting my stash busting journey so will post details and pics on there as soon as I canThis means I am now past the 200 mark - yippee - only another 1802 to go
Got a plan in mind at the moment as needing some more stock for upcoming craft fairs so have gone through remaining stock and worked out what extra is needed. I've then sorted what I am low on into the top selling order and am working my way through. The Friendship Teabags were my top seller :0
Next on the list is badges (my second best seller). At least it partly justifies the extortionate cost of the machine
This thread seems to be a bit quiet at the moment - I'm hoping everyone is busy making rather than me bored you all to sleep

I've done nothing in the last few days as the mood for making things has deserted me
. My oh is packing in his work tomorrow and has decided to retire as he's had enough, goodness knows what I'm going to do with him in the house everyday. I've never heard of friendship tea bags before but I've just googled them and they're brilliant what a lovely idea.

Hi everyone,
well done crafting mad on tidying the craft room, i know what a mammoth job that is.
i like the friendship teabags too, i made a few at christmas
Kinski - I know what you mean about retired OH, I went to the library and 3age and signed my OH upto all kinds of things for him to try...he did make a start but then was asked would he help set up a company for his son and hes been there ever since, 3 years lol
I been making a decoupage coffee table, I seen one when I was away and the price was extortionate so Im recycling an old one and covering it in backing papers. Its great fun glue and paper, what's not to love? But I'm not sure about it
chirpycheap - i'm like you I like to keep all my nice papers, but Ive decided best to use them, I can always get some more when I`ve completed my challenge of courseChallenge 2018 - Learn by heart the Book by Wayne Morgan on Amazon - Betfair Football Trading as it helps to supplement my small income :beer:0 -
Had to google friendship teabags. What a lovely idea.
I have not been idle today-well, not totally. I have made a start on a draught excluder. Decided on a basic one without cover. Just got to get DD2 to get some stuffing out of the loft for me when she's got a minute.GE 36 *MFD may 2043

Ooooh, how lovely. I love the look of decoupaged furniture, in fact I was looking on ebay today at some hat boxes that were decoupaged. Actually I was looking at the victorian scraps because I've got an idea to do a decoupage screen for the dolls house, but all the scraps are too big for the screen and would be out of scale. And of course, I would be buying something!!! I'm going to see if I can find a seed catalogue or something and use floral images out of those.
Well, since Saturday I've been laid up with a bunged up head and nose, not being able to breathe properly or sleep without 4 pillows and a load of Olbas oil. I haven't really felt like doing much but I did manage to go through a pile of magazines on Sunday, sorting out more articles to keep and have consequently destashed another 30 magazines. There is a little gap in the cupboard now where they used to be!
I have also today made 3 more things towards the dolls house swaps this year: 2 little log baskets with logs in (which used up 2 bottle tops, a couple of metres of string and a bit of glue, plus a few twigs). Hasn't made an enormous dent in the stash but has crossed a couple of things off the list. Also covered a little tiny wooden heart with teeny tiny buttons, like the full sized picture frames I did - another dolls house make. Will try and take a pic tomorrow, they look really cute. Again, used up a wooden heart, about 50 of the buttons and a bit of glue. Still.... baby steps....
I've also spent a morning tidying up all my dolls house bits and pieces: I have boxes full of 'found' bits like bottle tops and anything and everything that could possibly be useful. I didn't throw much away but did manage to sort it all out and put like with like so I know what I've got and where it is. Going to take years to make everything I want to make...!
So total is now 100 out of 500Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing

Evening all
Have finished the panda hat
I feel like I am slowing down - roll on half term next week (although I have controlled assessment to mark!) I have started the rabbit hat and then there is just one more scarf.
I have broken rules because I have ordered two Amy Butler charm packs to make a blanket for my friends baby. I just didn't have suitable material but I will try and use wool from my stash (promise):D I want to make one of these:

Hooray - I haven't scared you all off
I was beginning to worry I was on my own again for a while there and I know that I definitely need all your support to keep me on track
Kinski - Oh no - I don't think I'd want my OH at home 24-7 - it would mean that I couldn't smuggle in my new purchases and pretend I've had them for ages (not that I've done that since this challenge but even so ): As for motivation I always find a challenge helps so scour the internet or spend hours drooling over pinterest? Hope you get your mojo back soon. Mine is often deserting me but I have found this thread so helpful to keep me in a creative frame of mind - hope it helps you too
susan42 - can't wait to see pics of the table - I'm already eyeing up items of furtniture which I might be able to do this onGood luck x
tattycath - does this mean the draft excluder is nearly finished - again wanting pics please so I can drool xx
loopychris - thank you - but your right my 2014 target means I've still got a long way to goHope you are feeling better soon. All of us here have been suffering with horrible head colds
Well done on more magazine destashing and a gap - fan-stash -tic
Also loving the mini dolls house makes - you are making me start to want to keep bottle caps now
Also loving the idea about using a seed catalogue rather than buying new stash - go girl
chiefpossession - oh my how cute is that. Whatever you do don't let my daughter see it - she loves pandas and she will want one - however as I mentioned before I can't knit!!! As your creations are so wonderful I shall let you off buying fabric as you do after all have a use in mind and the finished result will be absolutely beautiful I'm sure. Remember pics - if only for the fact that I love Amy Butler fabric so it will give me a chance to drool some more
Happy crafty stash busting everyone - lets see how many projects we can complete together in the rest of FebruaryMortgage - £2338.07 paid off Feb 2023 BTL 1 £51,089.10 £35789.36 paid off July 2025 BTL 2 £81,504.52 BTL 3 £77,497.020 -
Well the kids didn't want to do anything yesterday - in their words they wanted a "chill" day so whilst they were playing on electronic devices I managed to design some badges on the computer. I then had a mammoth making session with the badge machine (and at this point two very keen and willing helpers) and together we made 100 badges - yeah - that will help my totals. Admittedly I only sold 96 badges all last year but at least it gives me motivation to try and increase my sales
So my total now stands at 312 - only another 1702 to go (or put another way 5.38 makes per dayMortgage - £2338.07 paid off Feb 2023 BTL 1 £51,089.10 £35789.36 paid off July 2025 BTL 2 £81,504.52 BTL 3 £77,497.020
