Good Morning - hope everyone is well this morning. Yesterday evening, having seen the posts re: Friendship tea bags, I managed to use craft and kitchen stash. I was making some cards using decoupage sheets with tea cups and cake on and I remembered some individually packaged tea bags that came as part of a gift box. Only DD drinks tea in this house, so into the cards they went!0

A sheepish hello from me today as I'm still feeling very guilty about my craft purchases from the other day
However I am trying to right my wrongs as I have listed a few bits of stash which I had sorted through to sell onto facebook selling pages so hopefully by the end I will have sold more than spent and decluttered more than what came in
Kinski - love the bath mat - I am so going to make some of them - they look fabAnd well done for finishing the sock monkey
Did OH love it?
loopychriss - I remember making pom poms like that too - actually as it's the school holidays and I came across some wool yesterday we might make some all together todayThanks for the inspiration. As for the dolls house button cards - you must have the patience of a saint and the eyesight of a hyena (not sure if this is a good example but its the only good sighted animal I could think of at the time)
susan42 - well done on selling things on Ebay. And I love the sound of your OH too - I must have a duff one - hinting never gets me anywhere (actually come to think of it blantant asking never gets me what I want either!!!)
emslovesmickey - thank you for your understanding ems and well done on ploughing on with the cross stitches - they really are trulely beautiful x
mothernerd - nice to see you backHope you are feeling better very soon and I'm so sorry to hear about your cat
I lost my last one when she was 19 years old and they are so much part of the family by this time that it is really hard so I'm feeling your pain)
Well done on letting something go - it sounds like it had done its job already so it's great that you didn't just put it back into a stash pileI also think that if you almost finished DS2's sampler that is one project so you are off and running - well done
And I also say that if it makes the stash busting less painful then count the ceilings and walls as craft projects
This challenge is supposed to be fun and reignite our love for craft so if by painting the walls it means you will get more crafting done eventually go for it
Like I said at the start there really are no strict rules
Well my news is that I have managed to make 12 more cards (and used up some of the cello bags I bought the other dayso that's a bit more for my total. I've worked out that I've got to make another 14 or so cards to have every occasion covered and then I can move onto my next item on my list. My list is really helping me to stay focused as I have so much stuff the choices are endless and I kept getting distracted with other bits I could make rather than focussing on what I NEEDED to make first

I'd like to join in here too - it's not surprising that so many of you are in that other thread too!
I have taken over a room in our house for a craft room, in the hope (vain at the moment) of containing all my stuff there. I had a big think about what I wanted v what I need the room to do, so I have a sofa bed in there. I got a lovely drop leaf table and then added a gent's wardrobe (it has shelves and drawers) and some cupboards (all pre - loved). And then I started to move my stuff in - and then I had to give up 'cos it won't fit - yet! My OH put up some shelves and he has promised to put more shelves in the wardrobe for me, but that still won't take everything. I have crates of stuff in boxes.
I knit/crochet, sew (all the fabric is in huge underbed storage boxes) and make cards. But I dabble in painting too - that stuff is in the loft, so doesn't count at the moment. And I have wadding in the loft too! My stamps, ribbons, punches and whatnot else are stored in a wardrobe and drawers in the other spare bedroom. So I have a lot of destashing to do to make an impression and get it all where it belongs. Help!
I'll go for 50 items for my target and when that's done (note how positive I'm being here) I'll start again with another 50. I wish I had your courage to go for 2014, crafting mad, but I'm a coward! Now to find out how to add a signature so I can't change my mind.
Hello and welcome greentiger - its great to have you on boardEspecially as you sound just like me in terms of stash etc
Don't be ashamed of 50 as a target - I wish I was brave enough to go for a sensible target too
Look forward to seeing all your wonderful makes - I am exceptionally jealous of the sound of your fabric stash - I love fabricMortgage - £2338.07 paid off Feb 2023 BTL 1 £51,089.10 £35789.36 paid off July 2025 BTL 2 £81,504.52 BTL 3 £77,497.020 -

Hi everyone
Well here it is the decoupaged coffee table ( I made two as I had so much fun)
here
They come out alright, I used approx 10 12x12 backing papers and a huge pot of PVA , now lets see what else I can decoupage
Mothernerd - hope you feel better soon and then you can join in, keep posting though and eventually that crafting mojo should bite
Loopychris - you have done something you being sorting your mini buttons, that must of been very time consuming
welcome - greentiger
craftingmad - good idea selling things to pay for your spends the other day, I try to do this, all my items sold on ebay :-) so happy with that, but I wanted a dongle for the kindle to send video to the TV so it was money neutral and a bit to spare, well done on the 14 cards though. Im stuck for men ideas at the moment, need to make some cards soon for march birthdaysChallenge 2018 - Learn by heart the Book by Wayne Morgan on Amazon - Betfair Football Trading as it helps to supplement my small income :beer:0 -

Don't feel too guilty, sometimes you have to add a bit to the stash to help declutter more. I used to feel guilty about the amount of money I was spending on craft stash: I don't work and it was OH who was funding it all. Lots of it has been disposed of by giving away to various friends, nurseries and charity shops and the guilt I felt overwhelmed me. It made me very unhappy and depressed. We had a good talk and he said "don't beat yourself up about it, that was in the past". He still takes that attitude even though I gave up buying craft stuff and went on to fabric, and now dolls house stuff.
As for the dolls house button cards - yes, I do have the patience at the moment. Not being well this week I haven't wanted to do much except sit on the sofa, and this is something I can do with a tray on my lap. Plus of course, if I'm doing that I don't have to do anything else (like housework)!! I don't have brilliant eyesight either.... I'm sure a lot of them are wonky!

Love the coffee tables susan, they look very effective. Yes, sorting the mini buttons was time-consuming but satisfying. I love buttons... I have a massive tub of them... I cleared my local Oxfam out of their entire stock a few weeks ago!!!
Today I have been sticking diamantes onto the Order of Service pricked designs - 32 on each, and there's 40 of them to do! Unfortunately they are not self adhesive, so each one has to be picked up in my fingers and a tiny spot of glue put on the back and then it's stuck to the pricked design. Have done 13 of those so far.... another job for when I'm watching TV. Getting glue all over my fingers and making a fine old mess, but they do look good when they're done. I'm getting there...Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing

I have managed to use up a wheen of white cotton(still loads left), by cutting it into 100 4.5" x 4.5" squares to reinforce stretchy patches for the memory quilt I'm making for a friend's (grand)daughter.
Next step is to sew the pieces together; then I can get onto the good part - putting it together!
I also used some (a teeny, weeny, tiny portion) of my paper stash to make a birthday card for a friend. It took about 3 or 4 times longer to rake the stuff out and choose what I wanted to use than it did to make the card actually! That's just silly and underlines the need to do this challenge!
I can't decide whether to count each card as 1 thing, or to count a month's worth of cards as 1 item. I am counting the cotton as 1 item, as, although the quilt's not finished, I have used it up and there is unlikely to be anything else of what I already have in this project (apart from thread). The baby clothes from which I cut the patches were provided but I will have to buy some backing and, possibly, binding fabric to complete it.
Oh well, it's a step in the right direction.Sewing 88/COLOR]Woollies 19Card s 91Reading 37/400 -
hello again
Susan42 - the table is amazing - I am so copying this idea with some suitable furniture (once I find the right piece in my houseI'm also looking at some wooden shapes, papier mache type letters and frames and thinking this might be the treatment for them
loopychris - thanks for your understanding and can I borrow your OH - he sounds much nicer than mineCan't wait to see pics of the wedding stationary. They sound beautiful
tattycath - ooh I love your scented sachets - please I need pictures v. soonAnd well done on two draft excluders. I am impressed
greentiger - wow - you certainly are throwing yourself into this challenge which is brilliant. You're putting me to shame but keep going - in fact go get 'em tigerIt's up to you how you count things - as I've got such a large target I am counting each item as 1 thing. However some of the things I make are very quick and others are more time consuming so I think it will level out. It really does not matter how you do it - we are still clearing our stash which is the aim of this challenge
We had a family day yesterday as Hubby was off and the school holidays are drawing to a close. I did however manage to make three cards whilst I was waiting for said hubby to wake up!!! My total is creeping up slowly
Don't think I will get much done today as I am at a very small craft fair this morning and then face painting at a party this afternoon. In fact better go or will be late for the craft fair
Happy crafting all. Catch up laterMortgage - £2338.07 paid off Feb 2023 BTL 1 £51,089.10 £35789.36 paid off July 2025 BTL 2 £81,504.52 BTL 3 £77,497.020 -
Nothing achieved today as we have daughter and grandson staying with us for the night. Went to visit friends this morning, who moved into a new bungalow yesterday, then went out for lunch. Seeing their new place has made me want to move even more, so I really do need to knuckle down and bust some stash before we can even think of moving. I think maybe the 'chuck it out/give it away' route is going to be best for some of it! Might have another sort out tomorrow and be a bit more ruthless. After all, if I decide to do that particular project in the future I can always buy more stuff!!!Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing
