Thanks loopychris. Whatever I use will come out of my stash. :D

Bunting is quite easy to make: I made a triangle template and cut out 2 triangles from each piece of fabric. Sew up the long sides into the point, then turn inside out and press. When you have enough, cut the binding. I have been cutting it on the straight grain of the fabric but found when I sewed it to the flags it bunched up a bit. Best to cut the strips on the bias (diagonal) of the fabric.

Thank you, as long as their not going to be here in the next few weeks I might manage to make some.
  • You should be able to get it done in a couple of days. If you google YouTube and 'bunting' there are tutorials on how to make it too.

tattycath, if you hem the ends of the draft excluder cover you could either thread ribbon of some kind through and tie it or put elastic through it.
Thank you loopychriss, I'm going to try and rope my youngest daughter into helping me with the bunting, she doesn't have a crafty bone in her body but I think she might enjoy helping me do this for her sister, I'm pretty sure I have different coloured gingham lying about somewhere so I'll use that.
  • Gingham sounds good.... I love gingham but never seem to have any!

I did buy a couple of bits of felt from hobbycraft in red and blue so I could cut out welcome home and attach it somehow, I don't want to stick the letters on permanently as I'd like to use the bunting for other things, I thought of using Velcro but I'd be there forever sewing, I might try poppers or just safety pins. If it works I might get more felt and do the alphabet so I can put different messages on the bunting, or I might just think stuff it they can have the bunting with nothing on it.
  • Hi all, sorry been really naughty and not posted for a few days but the last week before half term always seems to be really busy for me. I feel like I have not stopped for days :) I have been reading all your podts though, I promise, I've just not had the time to reply to them - until now :)

So are you all ready - then off I go:-

Chief possession - loving the sheep hat. Is there any design you can't knit into a hat :) also great to see it bought good behaviour (am now making a mental note to learn how to knit so my kids will behave better :)

Dallam20 - congratulations on reaching 100 items :) you definitely have permission to go ahead and treat yourself to more stash :) I also know what you mean about never running out though! I think I could make 120 items a day until I'm 90 and still have the same amount of stash again left at the end (if not more!!!)

Susan42 - lucky you :) I wish I could be sunning myself somewhere - it's really cold and windy here at the moment :( glad you made your oh a valentines card after your treat - I think they deserve it :)

Nimbo - ha ha :) I love projects which use more of my stash in one go too :) you too also have a great oh - I'm starting to think I better think about trading mine in for a better model :)

Loopychris - great destashing of magazines - think of all that extra space you now have :) and well done for cracking on with the pricking for the wedding bits. The list is looking good with loads being crossed off :) you are going great guns and really putting me to shame :) keep up your great work :)

Emslovesmickey - so sorry for your loss :( although you have reached your target, please hang around because you always inspire me with all your lovely makes and motivate me to keep going :)

Kinski - I have lots of socks in my stash bought to make sock monkeys with but havent got around to making any yet. Might fish some out soon and have a go :) hoping your daughter is here soon (although hopefully not too soon so you have a chance to make the bunting). Please post a picture as it sounds like it will be amazing :)

Tattycath - sorry never made a draught excluder but all the advice given sounds good and now I want to make one too :) please post pictures of finished article so I can drool and dream of making one of my own :)

Ps : I also want to make some bunting now as well :)

Hello everyone. I have been watching this thread for months, but never got round to posting myself. I can identify myself with most of you:) and having boxes, cupboards and shelves filled with craft stuff is overwhelming. I have moved a house last month, and still try to unpack my goodies.
I probably had a go at every single craft there is at some point of my life, so I have made a few decisions.:
    1. If the items have not been used in last couple of years and I am not good at it- it gets flogged on ebay-i.e. this needle felting kit bought 2 years ago that ended as massive craft fail that cost me over £30.
    2. I will use up my goodies to make items for sale on folksy/craft fairs, and I have prebooked some craft fairs too.
    3. I will not visit hobbycraft in 2014 (tough).
    4. I will make 500 items before I buy. It seems an awful lot, but it must be done.

I set up a craft diary, with daily targets, aiming to finish at least 30 items by end of February.

    Hello and welcome :)

You go girl - they sound like tough but do-able targets to me :) remember us happy crafters are always here to help keep you motivated and on track :)

Good luck and remember to keep us updated on your progress :)

  • Well I have managed to get a few more things done since my last update :)

I'm still going through the magazines and keep finding more so the pile doesn't seem to be going down at the moment but I'm determined I will get there :) I've also done a bit more on the inspiration book but the first ones still not quite finished so I can't count it towards my total yet. Hoping to get it finished this coming week :)

I have however managed to complete up to week 6 in project life (today is the last day of week 7) so can declare 8 more things for my total :) I've also made a start for this week so hopefully another 2 should follow and bring me totally up to date :)

This week is half term so I'm not sure how much I'll get done but I do know the kids have got a birthday party to go on Saturday so will also have to make a card to add to my totals :)

    Keep crafting everybody :)

    Hello, me again :)

I have managed to tidy up my craft room so I have a floor again and everything is in its place - roughly. Well when I say everything is in its place, what I mean is that everything that can fit in the craft room is in its place. I'm not counting all the boxes of goodies in the sheds, conservatory, lounge, dining room, eaves etc :)

Hopefully though it will make it easier and quicker for me to craft - until I mess it all up again :)
