Have spent the morning reading this thread and would love to join if you would have me, I set myself a challenge to make/complete 52 projects in a year (but hoping for more). Could I make 52 my target and will declare any projects I complete from now please?

I am very lucky in that hubby and little boy bought me a sewing machine for Christmas and this year I aim to learn to sew. I love all sorts of crafting and have loads of papercraft, frames, card making bits, knitting wool and anything (and everything) I think I can make something from, so I would really love this year to be the year I tame my stash and produce something other than clutter - wish me luck :o

Keep up the great work everyone, you are all so inspiring :T

    Hello ziggy2407,

Of course you can join - it's lovely to have you on board. 52 sound like a great target. Looking forward to seeing all your creations :) Wish my hubby was as supportive - don't think he's ever bought me anything crafty - there again I do already have the world's largest craft stash :)

Wow - these are amazing - I love the pom poms at the end of the scarf - no wonder your granddaughter loves it so much :)

However you have now made me want to go out and buy some throws so I can make wonderful items like you :( Maybe I will have to look through my material mountain and see what I can find :)

Thank you, I've loved doing them, my oh keeps on at me to change the cushion covers as it's "Christmas" material but I keep telling him no it's winter stuff and they're staying :T. I've still got loads of fleece as every time I saw some I liked I bought it to make a dog coat, my dog now has about 14 coats some knitted and some sewn so I now need to think of something to do with the rest of it.

I would like to join this challenge. I mainly do embroidery but want to get back to making most of my own clothes and mending but thinking creatively. I am good at most crafts - we never had any money when I was young so I used to make presents for my grandmothers from being very young. I did a lot when my children were small - I think it used to average at about 8 presents x 3 children (some only cheap gifts with extra presentation skills. I did quite a lot before Christmas with a friend's five year old.

I usually have a large project or two going on and then do smaller things to break it up. I have lots of embroidery threads and material, lots of fabric in lengths and in scraps, some felt (I have made puppets -hand and finger - when my own children were small and made some for my mother to do with various children she was minding. I was always the mother out in the backs with about ten of other people's children making trains out of cardboard boxes. my best ever find was when a local shop was being refurbished. The workmen had left a load of plastic crates (the sort used for storing big bottles of pop. I brought them home under cover of darkness, scrubbed them in the bath with disinfectant and then my children used them for years as giant building blocks in the garden. With a few bits of wood they could turn them into aeroplanes or anything they wanted and they doubled as picnic seating when friends came round in the summer. When they outgrew them I used them as mini raised beds.

Okay I have a few things that didn't get finished for Christmas - I want to get them out of the way and passed onto the intended recipients as soon as possible.

I want more Christmas decorations in shades of turquoise - not going to pay for any more baubles.

I have a linen sheet with some little cuts in which I have set aside for a shirt/top(s) for summer for me - don't want to start that yet as I am hoping to loose more weight (lost 3 stone since December 2012, would like to lose the same again but 1.5 - 2 stone would be enough for this year.

I have seen the Rudolph gift bags and I have some large brown carrier bags, but I think I will start by using some red tapestry wool to make pompom noses.

I am trying to downsize and have quite a lot of house jobs to do so perhaps this is the way to go. the noses won't take up a lot of room (easier to protect from the cat as well) but I will have used something up and made a first step towards something.

Along similar lines I am already committed to going through my stash of smaller pieces of material and cutting as many 6 inch squares in blue and brown shades (can also use any scraps of tailor's chalk I have ) - I need to recover an old quilt which is ripping) - The squares won't take up a lot of space, they have been given a purpose and will be ready when I have the time and space to take the next step.
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.

I went into h0bbycraft today... Major step forward for me. I picked up about 4 things and then remembered this thread and put them all back.
    I didn't buy anything. :)
Now I just need to start making things with the stuff I've got already.

Thank you so much for making me welcome, hopefully I may be able to show my first completed make - I was so inspired yesterday that I got out a blank canvas, tester pot of emulsion paint, wax crayons, small fabric flowers, some words and my hairdryer - so watch out later :D

    Hello and welcome :)

You sound like you've got loads of ideas to bust your stash and a great reason for so. Good luck and I can't wait to see pictures of your creations :)
