  • Well I'm not sure whether I have ticked off any projects but I have made a decision about scrap booking. I seem to have moved on from scrapbooking to a more journal/project life sort of approach. I have decided to only scrapbook special occasions and journal the day to day stuff.
I used to scrapbook almost every photograph I own and now that I am almost done scrapbooking my huge collection of photos I will be more careful about printing off photos.
Yesterday I got all my remaining photos and found the papers, journalling tags and lettering that I will be using for each set of photgraphs and have placed them all together in plastic page protectors ready to just pick up and scrapbook.
Hopefully I will be a little more likely to just pick up a page if everything is ready to get up and go. I still have around 200 sheets of scrapbooking papers left and plan to use them up in various projects. Some of my papers are at least ten years old and really need reusing or recycling!

Chirpycheap - I'm more a cardmaker than a scrapbooker but I am getting into recording trips/events more than I used to. I find it quite hard putting together 'kits' for pages or albums - it's not something I'm used to doing but I can see how it would make things a lot easier. I'm also not a great embellisher although you couldn't tell from the number of ribbons, flowers, brads etc etc I have. I must give your method a try as I find the whole scrapbooking process takes so long I tend to put off starting.
As far as the old papers go, I am trying to use old papers. Some that I dislike I cover with inks, paint, stamps etc. Have you tried one sheet wonders? Just do a search for these. I find that 'horrible' papers can look good once they've had a makeover and been cut up into bits.

  • I haven't had much time to do much stash busting but have started on tidying my craft room so I can actually find what I want!
I have used 2 balls of wool to make 7 pom-poms and sewn 8 buttons onto a cardigan, so used a very tiny amount of my stash, but it's a start!

Love hearing about all the projects going on, they are giving me lots of ideas of what I can do.

  • I just wanted to say a big 'Hi!' and to give you a all a massive cheer from the sidelines. I'm really a huge fan of stash busting, finishing up neglected projects, good organisation and all sorts of boring, sensible things like that,LOL:D, so I want to send you all a supportive wish.

I'm lucky in that, before our income nose-dived, I'd already collected all the embroidery things I'm likely to need for years to come (although sometimes I just don't seem to have exactly what I need for a piece...), so I too am enjoying the fruits of previous collecting. Compared to what some describe, I don't have very much, but I'm quite glad to be made to use what I have and not be able to horde more.

Hi fellow stash busters! Exciting news - I tidied my fabric stash at the weekend!!! I know, don't faint! I don't want to shock you even more, but the drawers of fabric actually close.

My plan is not to buy ANY fabric (except for wedding related fabric, getting married in September, and need new fabric for my dress and bridesmaids etc) until I have cleared the drawers labelled *fabrics I have a plan for* and *nice fabrics I do not have a plan for* LOL
Officially saved enough to cover the cost of our wedding! :A

What a great idea, Thanks so much! :D

  • It's been very quiet on here for a couple of days..,... are we all busy using up our stash, or has life taken over and we have to do all the boring, routine things....

I haven't made anything new, but I have been making the binding bit for the bunting and pinning the flags onto it, and I've been working on a button covered framed mirror for the past couple of days. So I am doing things, it's just that they're taking a while to get done.

I have actually had a good look at my 'to do' list of projects I want to get done, and have come to realise that it is just not realistic to achieve them all this year, so I am going to concentrate on the important ones and get what I can done of those. Others will have to be postponed until after, or I might just ditch them altogether and pass them on.

I think I'm just too ambitious, and don't like to say no to anyone: e.g. got given another bag full of fabric for making morsbags on Tuesday...!!

So.... I'm cracking on, but probably won't have any finished items to report until after the weekend.

    How is everyone else doing?

  • I'm still here loopychriss, but in the middle of things rather than completing them. I'm hoping to get a few things completed on Sunday. As for the photo stitch, page 5 of 6 is taking a long time so it will probably be another month before i complete it, especially as i have a few more things to do in Feb. If all goes as planned, i will complete my 50 by the end of Feb, then be able to have a guilt free craft buying trip for my bday!

After looking through a craft magazine I got a subscription for for Chrimbo I had a hankering to make some little bow slides, and may have to try to whip up some hair bobbles too...

I have made a nice little hair clip for myself - it will beautifully match the two dresses I bought a few weeks ago... I now have plans to make one with a cream lace accent, and another in turquoise, as I have a massive stash of ribbon - it's really nice stiff ribbed ribbon, so there was less stitching involved than the ones in the magazine... It hasn't used much of the ribbon - but there is a limit to how many bow slides one woman can make

The scarf is going painfully slowly, whcich is kind of a double edged sword - I'm frustrated as I want to start other knitting projects - but good as it helped dissuade me from buying yarn today - therefore not gaining more stash...

Both my OH's valentines cards and anniversary cards have been made - but I need to make some birthday cards for others too...

It was only quick and simple, so will hopefully make at least one more tonight...

    Woo - hoo mission accomplished - http://www.flickr.com/photos/114012903@N02/12141996354/

Although i do have to say I needed a larger overlap in the ribbon to make it look less 'floppy'...
