    Hi chirpycheap and everyone else,

The watercolour paper was just a pad to go with a set of watercolour paints for the present.

The paints were in my stash that I bought when shop closed down and I already have a set.

DD going to birthday party on Sat and child is amazing at art, so wanted to get her proper artist paper to go with the paints as her grandmother is teaching her to paint. She is a very talented 10 yr old.

Paper very expensive but paints from stash and made tissue paper and felt flowers to decorate a recycled present bag.

So another stash bust for me:)

    Hi

well have managed to make 5/6 cards that I started before xmas.

One of these was using up a freebie kit so that's 1/45 gone and one has used part of a kit, hoping to get another two cards out of this kit. Mind you in saying that the kit is just the charts and the thread but it has meant I have used up aida and the card/envelope in making them from my other stash bits.

Will update with pics when they are all finished.

I also picked out a card to do for OH for valentines and I was one thread short which was a dark blue, but considering that is for an elephant I have decided to substitute it and the complementary thread for grey as I don't recall seeing many blue elephants and I have a few different shades of grey in my collection, so no spending - yeh

I too have stash all over the house, the side of my chair is filled with cross stitch items, my fireplace has 4 boxes of threads currently living on it, the dining room table has my sewing machine on as I am in the middle of making a window quilt and I have a large storage box in my room that is filled with bits and pieces.......

Am I the only one that saves ribbon, voile etc from any gifts.....I have even taken the bits of ribbon off the Christmas crackers to use for 'something'?

Your house sounds like mine. I really need to join this group.

The crafts I do include jewellery making, card making, scrapbooking, embroidery, buttonmaking, bathbombs, and quilting. Oh and knitting socks too. I'm using up some of my wool at the moment. I need all the help and support I can get.

I'm waiting for one last order of fabric to come through from USA and then I'm not buying anything else!.

The bad news is I haven't even started getting stuff made using my stash of craft stuff. :(
The good news is that I managed to resist buying any more the other day when I was so tempted. :)
Has anyone here used craftsy tutorials please? If so are they good value for money? Or could I just get good free tutorials on YouTube or video jug or ehow?
    Many thanks in advance.

I've learn all sorts and got lots of ideas from the free tutorials on youtube. I definitely check them out before paying for any. Don't think I've come across a craft topic yet that isn't covered on a youtube video.

I've not made anything yet either, but I've been good and not bought anything either. Can't say I've been totally good thought because I excepted a bag of end rolls of wool of my cousin. In my defense I do have a use for it, going to try it with the Lucet tool I got at Yule with the book. Just need to get both hands working.

  • I was inspired by all your needle-based projects to pick up a scarf that I started @2 years ago  ! Made good progress last night on it while watching TV. I bought a big cone of wool from my local charity shop for @£1 and made a start on it but never got any further.

Well done scrapmate on reaching your 50/50 target:)

Just gathered stuff together for next week for sewing group. Only bringing unfinished projects to work on.

Not starting new projects until half finished stuff completed.
  • Thank you Craftyc but I feel a bit guilty as the sewing /knitting projects you all are doing take so much longer that my papercraft projects. I am trying to make use of what I have and not be tempted by the bargains on the net. I am starting a new project for the year now that the dictionary project has finished. I will blog about it once the first prompt is done. I also need to start a minibook on our trip to Blackpool last year. The pics have arrived and I need to get going on it.

On the plus side I used up some of my stash but in the words of my mother 'sometimes less is more!' It may not be the most tasteful object in the world but it does make me smile. Can't wait to see what my OH says when he receives it on Valentines Day. I was halfway through when I realised a more masculine colour was probably a better idea. Never mind it's the thought that counts and he once gave me a heart he made at work with waste metal and that was hideous but I've kept it for 20 years!

  • Well done chirpycheep, I'm sure he'll love it.

Well, I'm afraid I err.... ummm.... 'acquired' a very lot of buttons today. I was in local Oxfam and just happened to ask if they had any buttons in that I could buy. They came out with 2 large containers full! Well, I am a sucker for buttons, so I ended up buying the lot! Oh well, at least I have enough now to cover all the picture frames and mirrors and various objects that I want to do.

Not made anything for a couple of days but hope to get something done over the weekend.

I hate the sewing up bit too. I avoid knitting anything with too much sewing up at the end. I'm not sure why because the knitting bit actually takes a lot longer but if someone could design a garment that you can knit all in one piece it would be a winner!

Just starting a crochet blanket to use up a mountain of mixed beige wool that somebody kindly gave me some centuries ago!:rotfl:

You can knit a sweater all in one with a circular needle. Start at the bottom, knit the rib, knit the body up to the arms, split for back and front. Knit back and front without casting off at shoulders. Graft shoulder seams. Pick up and knit arm stitches and knit down to cuffs. Rib cuffs. Cast off. Pick up and knit collar. Without casting off knit 2 or 3 rows in a different colour. Graft collar stitches to main body on inside.
