  • Hello all. Only just found this board. Yesterday I made a case for my new tablet. Lined it with pink velvet, did the outside with some woollen tartanish stuff which is green cream taupe and pinky red. Very chuffed as all from stash. Thinking of doing aponcho with taryan stuff. A huge length I get for £3 in a charity shop. My sewing machine came back from repair last week and it sews just as it did when new. I feel whole again. :-)
  • Well done everyone - loads of stash-bustin' goin' down :j

I have started knitting a pair of gloves today and sorted out my card stuff for an assault on the card-making front.

Craftingmad - we forgive you as long as you show us pics :rotfl:
  • loopychris - it just so happens that I have a wooden heart in my collection and have a massive stash of buttons so I may well be following your lead very soon - thank you for the inspiration :)

I have alittle confession to make. I popped into our local discount type shop this morning and bought some cork backed coasters at 49p for a packet of 4. However there were 8 packs on the shelves so I bought all of them :( In my defence I already have a plan as to how to use them and they were amongst my top sellers around Christmas last year so I have the potential to earn approx. £90 profit from them once I have decorated them up :) Please may I be forgiven?

Only if you show us what you do with the coasters! Glad to have inspired you with the button heart: I found 3 small ones in my drawer which I have listed as going to be decoupaged/decopatched, but my 3 year old granddaughter liked the button covered one so I said I'd make her one with one of the little hearts. I'll see how it goes, might make all 3 and either give them to her or just give her one and save the others to sell later in the year.

Didn't get any more stash busting done today, but I'm preparing/planning for tomorrow's.

Just been wondering - if I gave stuff away would that count as using it up in this challenge, or have I got to make things from it all?

Loopy chris and lmb4wmc - I suppose that giving things away counts if you want them to , it is stash busting

On that note I gave 10 magazines away to the OAPs , I have about 200 but wanted to read through them and photocopy bits I like. I didn't want to cut them as the magazine could be recycled then.

You are all doing so well with the challenges, I seem to be doing lots of organising but nothing productive

Crafting mad - you can be forgiven as you speculated to accumulated . And they are stash you need to complete a project . What on earth are you going to do with them lol

Thriftyscotslass - love your expression assault on the craft stuff , feels like that here. But you can see the floor of the craft room now that's a bonus

Loopy criss - well done on the frames

Welcome Yorkshire Celt and owl fan

Craftc - what did you put in your car freshners , wonder if I can make some reusable ones

Nimbo - it is amazing how much you can do if you put your mind to it isn't it. And some projects take a lot of hours longer that others. I can make a few cards a day . I'm knitting a scarf I started this year, want it finished for Christmas. I'm not very good at knitting. I have a cross stitch I've sorted threads haven't got any further, mmm perhaps I'll write a list

    1. 400- 500 Xmas cards
    2. Knit scarf
    3. Bucilla kits x2
    4. Beach cross stitch
    5. 100 birthday cards
    6. Xmas things for family, pots of gold , Santa soup etc

Also my mate asked would I support her with a stall at a spring fayre

I have no idea what to do. I usually do an Xmas at the church but spring? I think it will be before Easter.

    Any suggestions greatly appreciated

And I know this is totally random , but has anyone seen any white linen trousers in the shops? I ordered some off line and the material was awful. Would like to see them before I buy

    Hi Susan42 and everyone else,

I get rice and put it in old plastic container. Add scented oil which the rice absorbs.

When stuffing the felt fresheners I use stuffing from old cushions and then add some of the rice.

When storing keep in plastic bag I use card ones so look pretty for selling.

You can revamp by dabbing oil onto fabric if required.

    Hope this helps cc

    Hi Susan42,
Forgot to add that I used up old smelly bags that you put on your radiators. If you open up the packet inside it has granules inside which I put more oil onto as the smell had gone out of the packet.
Used up these old sachets first and then when done used rice.

Apparently cat litter if you have it is good for scented oil too. But I don't have a cat so rice cheaper or old sachets that a friend donates. I don't buy them too expensive ! It also means you can use up the random bottles of scented oil which has spent years lurking in the cupboard....

Well, my positive outlook today has seen me make 1 morsbag and sewn 11 more flags for the bunting, and it's not even 11 o'clock yet! I've also sprayed 3 little wooden hearts gold ready to have buttons attached, and I'll start one of those when the paint is dry. Really feel like I can make a dent in the stash today....

    Total: 50 out of 500

Hi managed to stash bust by making up a scrap kit with 13 sheets of paper, cricut cuts and ribbon paper clips with cruise theme for a lady who wanted to scrap her hol and she donated £3 to epilepsy charity.

So good news busted stash though didn't have time to craft myself.:)
