Been productive this morning and made four cards and two decoupage hearts, so thats now TEN items!
This challenge has been great because i have spent a long time just looking at my items and not knowing/wanting to use them. Now instead of looking at the items and thinking ooh they are pretty i am actually thinking how to USE them0 -
Hi, just popping out of "lurkdom" to say thank you to Rosalie-lavendar for the dalek pattern. I've saved the pattern for future use.
Will have to read back and see how your challenge on using stash is working. As some of you know (I recognise some of you frkm eleswhere on MSE) I cross stitch and dabble at sewing. However, over the years I've made cards, jewellery and scrapbooking. I have a craft room, its actually the spare room, which is overflowin. I have an Ikea Pax wardrobe full, 2 large Billy bookcases with boxes on full of "stuff" and an Ikea Norden table with all 6 drawers full.
Anyway thats a short introduction to my stash. I'll go and look at the start of the thread and the rules now.
Hello Ailsb, welcome to the thread. I'm glad you are no longer "lurking" and that you are going to join in and "play" with us xxx
You sound just like me - my "stash" really is "stashed" in every room of the house
When you are ready if you could let me know a target number of items you would like to aim towards I shall add you to the list of participants.
As for rules - there really are not that many - simply you set a target amount of items you want to make in order to bust some of your stash before you cab buy anymore goodies - however I promise I will not shoot you if you break the rules - after all we are all crafters and we have to have the latest goodies every now and again.
Hopefully though this challenge will make you take a new look at your stash and use some of the pieces you were saving for "special occasions" or "to use one day" xxMortgage - £2338.07 paid off Feb 2023 BTL 1 £51,089.10 £35789.36 paid off July 2025 BTL 2 £81,504.52 BTL 3 £77,497.020 -
I've made three more things today - another scrapbook page, a card and a glass bauble (which I have had sitting in my cupboard for nearly two years ready for "that special project". All of these were again inspired by a stash buster challenge on Two Peas.
Hoping to get a couple more baubles made tonight but if not they are on my list for tomorrow
So my total now stands at 80 / 500Mortgage - £2338.07 paid off Feb 2023 BTL 1 £51,089.10 £35789.36 paid off July 2025 BTL 2 £81,504.52 BTL 3 £77,497.020 -
Wrapped the cards that I made at the weekend and will use them as a stocking filler for my mum and sister.
I also used up some of my ribbons making this Christmas hoop. I have had the metal circle hanging around for yonks (it looked useful) so really glad to remove it from my room!Stashbusting 2019 - 230/3000 -
Craftingmad - please put me down for 25 to start with. I'm going to try to finish off some things I've started over the years.
I've used a piece of blue aida that I've had in my stash for at least 9 years and completed a snowman cross stitch. I finished him earlier and have added the special date 11.12.13. Pleased I've finished it without having to buy anything extra.
So if I count this I'm 1/25.Cross Stitch Cafe Member #59 :j

Hi, could I join in the stash busting challenge please? I have a large stash of fabric, card making stuff, cross stitch stuff, and my latest passion - miniatures for dolls houses. I tend to collect everything I need to do the craft, but never actually get around to doing it because I'm too busy buying the stuff or tidying said stuff!
I too have some beautiful fabrics that are 'too nice to use', plus card making stash that I don't want to use up for the same reason.
I'd like to set a target of 500 for the next year, up until the end of November, with the hope of making things for presents through the year.
I'd also like to make some greetings cards, because I never seem to have one when I need one. I used to make hundreds of cards a few years ago, and managed to sell them, but since I discovered patchwork and quilting I haven't made many. I have to make a few Christmas cards this year, so I'll start my challenge with those.Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing

Ooooh I so need to be in on this declutter.. I have 5 green Tesco crates full of fabric, at least 3 binbags of wool and a large tub next to my chair which has my current (6) projects in. I have a box of card making paraphernalia and 7 cross stitches.. 2 of course half done!
I want to run up a couple of drawstring bags for PE shoes for my girls and for some reason this is proving nothing short of impossible.. I am just a lazy lump and quite happy to sit and knit.
I banned myself from buying wool then found a jumper pattern I needed to buy wool for and school cardies and got carried away and bought loads.
I have 2 mens jumpers to knit before Christmas.. they are super chunky so knit up really quickly. The last one took about 6 days.
Can I pledge 10 items before I am permitted to even think about buying anything other than buttons/thread or necessities???LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Well done everyone on your progress and welcome to Ailsb, loopychris & pigpen.
It is so nice knowing I am not alone with my mountains and ability to use something as it is "just too nice".
I'm hoping to get a couple more bits made done today but have to tidy & clean the house first as hubby back tonight after working away for the last 16 daysMortgage - £2338.07 paid off Feb 2023 BTL 1 £51,089.10 £35789.36 paid off July 2025 BTL 2 £81,504.52 BTL 3 £77,497.020 -
A poem for us stashers
Twas the night before Christmas,
I’m glued to the tree.
I’m wondering what Santa brought just for me.
Could it be cardstock or chipboard or lace?
Or a Cricut, I said, with a smile on my face.
And that’s when I heard him, “Hi Santa,” I said
“You know….good little girls
should be in their beds.”
“I know I should Santa,
and now I’ve got caught.
But I was just so excited
To see what you brought.”
“Well, let’s take a look
in this room where you work.
He shook his head quickly,
And left with a jerk.
I heard him exclaim as he put it in gear.
“You’ve got enough crap,
I’ll see you next year!”Best wins in 2013 £200 and Mini iPad. 2014 no wins. 2015 2 nights 5* hotel with £300 vouchers plus £1150 Harrods gift card
