Wow!! What a great craft room you have Chirpycheap! And SOO tidy too. I love your organisation and am mega jealous of those metal drawers you rescued from a skip. I've wanted some of those for about four years but I know I'll never obtain them unless I win the lottery. They're so expensive, and I'm never around those skips when great stuff gets lobbed into them.

Your post has given me an idea... Maybe we should have a 'My Craft Room' thread, where we can post pictures of our craft rooms.

I keep coming and reading this thread and I get the greatest amount of guilt feeling from it. I'm a little bit like Battybird - I squirrel stuff away and because it's SO lovely I just can't bear to use it. I don't know what it is. It's such a silly bit of stupidity which lives inside me. I think maybe it's a bit of a scared feeling that if I use it then I won't have it anymore and then what will I do??? (eeek!)

Should seek psychological help! :o ROFL.

    .

Hi the CRe8tor - love your user name

I know exactly what you mean when you talk about guilt. I had a very quick add up of my stash just on one shelf the other day and it scared me to think how much I have spent on it. That said I don't smoke, drink or go out very much and I don't do designer clothes, haircuts, pampering etc so I do deserve a treat - that's how I justify it to myself.

I have decided though that it IS a waste if I just leave all the bits which are "too lovely to use" just sitting on a shelf or in a box so this challenge will hopefully make me dig them out and use them - if I really love something then I will just keep it for myself!!!! At least if I have made something with it and display it afterwards I will actually see it and love it even more than just having it in my paper file etc and only looking at it every now and again.

It does scare me that I will eventually have bo lovely stash after the challenge (although actually I think to use all my stash I would have to make closer to 50,000 items to use it all) but I also think that once I've used up what I've got I can always buy more - not very MSE I know but every crafter must think that too - don't you ?

I love the idea of a my craft room thread - although I really would have to tidy mine up first :)

Do you want to join in - go on it will be fun - promise and we can all feed ideas off each other xx

Hi, thread really resonates with me as I have been trying to cut down on my craft spending and cut down on my stash.

I currently have a box room filled to the ceiling with 'stuff', If you want to see my room in its full glory
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aklLdSoOvWk
What I don't admit to is the wardrobe full of wool and a chest full of fabric!

I recently managed to go to the NEC Hobbycrafts show and only purchase some double sided tape. I must admit to some recent little purchases at the Range and a car boot sale. I have a Washi tape addiction and I cannot leave paints, pens and markers alone!

My target is 500 items with the following 'get out' clauses:
    1) I have asked for vouchers to my local craft shop for Christmas so I will be spending my voucher money.
    2) I do a lot of Art Journalling/Scrapbooking so I will count each page that I complete as one item.
    3) I will limit any spending to absolute necessities (glue and tape)

I also promise that I will use up some of the lovely 'special' stuff that I have and never use because I am scared of ruining the loveliness of it!

    Hello and welcome,

I scrapbook too and am also going to class each page as 1 item :)

You also sound like me with having piles of loviness which I don't want to use :D

I am also very jealous of your cratt room - for one i wish mine was that tidy and organised. Xx

  • Posted a couple of yesterdays projects above.
Today I decided to use up some of my huge stash of card blanks. I decided to make some packs of cards up to give as presents to my mum and sister.
I have made them both 5 of each blank notelets and 5 Thank-you cards and wrapped them in cellophane bags with some pretty ribbon. Used up lots of embellishments and some of my stamped images.
So 20 card plus 2 yesterday makes 478/500

Oh and a big thanks for your lovely comments about my craft room. After an afternoon of crafting today it looks a lot less tidy!:rotfl:

Meg72 - sorry to hear about your craft fair. It's horrible when you have put in so much hard work to not sell anything but don't lose heart we have all been there xxx

Susan 42 - wow that's an amazing total well done. Maybe I should ban the computer for myself until a certain time cos I might actually get some things done :)

I have managed to make 3 more cards and use a jar from my stash to make a conversation jar. Basically its a decorated jar which holds lots of questions like how was your day, what did you like most about today etc. I thought it might make us all talk to each other as a family a bit more xx

  • I pinch all my ideas from You Tube! :rotfl:
The trees would be great to make with children and they are dead easy.
Love the idea of a conversation jar-how did you decorate it?

May I join in? I have so much stuff! Working on a womble at the moment :)

That's two of us wombling then. I have just finished sewing one for my daughter. I bought an original pattern from ebay. The price printed on it was 40p. No chance of getting a pattern for that much these days.

CHIRPYCHEAP - i love the xmas trees, misread your thread and thought you`d made 478 things:eek: well done, just realised you are counting the other way, or have you made 478 things :rotfl:

rosalie - when you`ve donr your womble will you post a piccy....memories :D

crafting mad - i`m with you dont smoke, dont drink, dont go out. Left with big craft stash :o

crea8tor - I keep things incase, determined to use them now...I best come see the psychologist with you

sarah - love the thought of wombles, remember my mum having one for me :)

Well no crafting yesterday, well I say none, cut out 40 tags and stamped them up, and attached twine , not sure how you count them so I`m not going to count.

I have a dilemma , my friend is into crafting and I `ve seen the perfect gift for her. I need some silicon glue. So is it ok to buy the gift and glue for me without breaking my stash challenge.

I really dont want to break the challenge, have we any guidelines on buying glue? Or craft for friends present?

Susan, I'm sure glue would be allowed or we'd all come unstuck (pardon the pun! :p) well before running out of the rest of our stash! Of course, if you're a glue hoarder then this doesn't apply! :) With regards to buying something for your friend then it's down to you, if it's something perfect then I'd buy it but I'm not militant about these things. This is just a bit of fun to get you thinking about using your stash instead of adding to it. No-one will shoot you for flexing the rules! :)

Does it count that my OH went into my tube of super posh luxury wrapping papers that I've been saving to use for *something* special and used it all to wrap Christmas presents?!?!
