Made Easter cards (for our mothers), 'eyes of god' (used up all my scraps of tapestry wool) and more rabbit/ egg playing cards (the glue stick ran out the week before, but I had another at home) with 4 yo this week - again gave the baby wool and a pair of sticks to play with.
Mum wanted to make toffee apples for the church Christmas Fair and I couldn't find long lolly sticks. The ones I found are, I think, a set of chopsticks - inexpensive and very smooth, one squarish and one tapered end. Didn't have time to do toffee apples and they have been hanging around in the crafty bits box ever since.
Other than the 2 we let the baby play with, we used the others as the stalks for foam flowers (cut individual petals in 3 sizes). Started by dipping one end of the stick into pva glue, wrapped a fringed piece (stamen) round the end, then slipped a longish piece of tapestry wool on to it, knotted it and added the petals one at a time, winding the wool round once or twice to secure each petal and then a double knot at the end.
I was trying for enough to have 3 each for her mother and 2 grandmothers but she wanted to give one to each person. Bless her, she asked "can we take some to the cemetery, one for daddy's grandma...?"
It's her birthday next Friday (used more curling ribbon for balloon strings - let mum go off on a mini rant, small purple shiny no, I'm not eating chocolate on Good Friday). It will be quiet without the baby the 4yo and the dog (mad puppy may be back from his hols but he only arrives about tea-time) so I have left another bag of bits there and (in between de-cluttering their room of doom) I can try a few more ideas and cut things out. I didn't get to do jumping jacks (must find the book in the library that shows how to string them) and there is some yellow foam - so maybe Minion jumping jacks (from despicable me).
Something must be working because I had 3 shoeboxes (one video box but shoebox sized boxes) of stuff in here and I bet it will all fit in one now.My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Lovely work everyone
Just a quick update from me today as I am in the middle of cooking Easter Dinner for 6 people and doing everything else associated with having company but I did manage to make 40 "sour cream" pouches today for the kids easter hunt. I called them "poop pockets" and they were filled with all different delights such as malteasers, milky bars and sweeties.
I'll try and post a pic and details on my blog as soon as I can.

Everyone has been very busy as usual.
craftingmad, your business cards are super cute.
loopychris, well done for completing your Order of Service cards. 1500 Morsbags is an amazing achievement! It's something I've always meant to do but never got around to. Hopefully I'll do it when I'm stuck for another project.
ziggy, those are very cheery bags.
emslovesmickey, your honorary sis will be thrilled with your makes, I'm sure. They are so original.
kinski, I'm an ideas thief too, unfortunately. I have a file on the computer where I save them. I also take pics in shops of things I see and think, "I could make that - for a fraction of the cost!" Of course, I seldom do, lol. But the file is there, for when I need some inspiration.
mothernerd, what lovely ideas you have. I like that you talk about how you get the children involved.
I finally got back in the swing today and can count 5 stashbusting makes. Woo hoo!
3 cards using Hunkydory stuff. I must never ever buy it again, because I have so much in just 3 packs I'll be stashbusting it forever. It seems a good idea when I see it, but I am going cold turkey. Actually I prefer doing my own thing, but it's an easy "go to" when I'm in a hurry or out of inspiration.

I also finished my April stitched panel. It's a birthday gift for my future dil. I just need to buy a frame to finish it off.

I love all the cards, that's one craft I don't think I'll ever try I'm just not good enough.
I've made a morsbag :T:T and I'm very very pleased with it, my daughter has taken a fancy to it and she wants me to make her some, this is from the woman who has hundreds of plastic bags lying about her house so I'm right chuffed :j, she wants one strong enough to hold her bottles of wine :rotfl:
I've at last taken a picture of the bunting for my other daughter coming home.0 -
Hi all - Hope you are all having a peaceful Easter weekend. I have completed 3 of the 5 laundry/sock bags so far. I am crocheting them out of acrylic yarn - any colours (in fact my husbands is fluorescent orange!!). I did a test wash and tumble dry of the first and it survived beautifully. :T
I have tried the laundry nets before but the zips just don't last. I have spent a small fortune over the years on socks for the 5 of us, let alone the time spent pairing them -and then there is the mountain of odd socks that no one will claim! A laundry bag each that dirty socks go straight into and never leave until washed, dried and taken back into the correct bedroom has been a revelation. Why didn't I do this years ago?
It really is the little things that make you happyStash Busting Challenge waiting for inspiration:D :j0 -
I've shown the morsbag to a dog walking friend and from what she hinted
I think I've found a new home for my first bag, after I've shown it to my daughter I think it will be given to my friends mum. I've had my sewing machine for goodness knows how many years but until I wandered in here it hadn't been used that much, only for dog coats, cusion covers and few sock monkeys. I would like to say a great big thank you especially to everyone on this thread for giving me ideas and inspiring me to try new things ( even if it is the simpler things :rotfl:), it's also keeping me of the glass of wine I occasionally have when eastenders us on, I might make an exception for tonight's episode though

Brilliant!!! That's the chain reaction that morsbags are supposed to set off!! Well done for making your first one Kinski, I think you should keep the first one for yourself. Now you know how to make them you will get quicker at them - I can knock one out in 15-20 minutes now!!! Good that your daughter likes them.... one made of curtain material would be strong enough for wine bottles. I made one once and the lady who had it said she'd carried 6 x 6 pints of milk in hers!!!
I love the bunting too xxxKeep Calm and Carry On Kondoing
