DGD wants me to make a fabric bag which she can then decorate with paint. Should I wash the fabric before I sew the bag?
I'm not sure, sorryFlorenceem wrote: »Finished making some stitched Christmas cards using my stash.

I've never heard of morsbags before. I gave them a quick google and what a fantastic idea I'm very tempted to make a few, how do people you don't know react when you hand them one or do you just give them to family and friends. I do have bags that are used every week for my big shop but we don't have many smaller ones and these are perfect.
Hi Kinski,
We get mixed reactions: some people try and offer money for them, which we decline and just say if they've got any fabric we can have they can donate that. Other people think it's a good idea too and take a couple. I have made over 1500 since 2009 and I have seen a few 'out in the wild'. I started off just giving them to family and friends, but now any that I make I give to my local community wardens who pass them on to people for me. I use mine all the time and sometimes people ask me where I got them: i've had to make a good few as a result of this, to give to those people!!!Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing

Thanks, 1500 is an impressive number well done, don't think I'd ever manage to make that many. I might make a few for my family and see how it goes, instead of getting the label's from the site I was going to try and make them on the computer, I've got some of the tee shirt transfer paper stuff so I thought I'd use that and I will include something about why they're made. I'm starting to be afraid of this part of the forum, there's so many good ideas and every time I see a new one I think '' oooo I want to try that '' :rotfl::rotfl:.0 -

They're really pretty, whatever they are.
Well.... at last - progress!!! I have now finished all 40 of the Order of Service cards, as far as I can. Once the hymns and readings and other details are finalised the inserts can be printed and put inside, but all my stash busting work is done. So, I'm going to up my total by 40 today.
I have sorted out lots of fabric to make squares out of for patchwork: I've got lots of patterns in mind for 5" and 6" squares to make some lap quilts for later in the year. They will be going to Syria for refugees in November to help keep them warm. They need knitted blankets and quilts so I thought it will be a way of getting my stash used up and out of the house. That's the theory anyway....
Next job is to make some morsbags for next weekend - there is an open day at the local country park and my community wardens want to promote them there, so we need to have a few to give away. Hoping I'm going to get some done tomorrow.
Slowly but surely the stash is going.... I've used up 2 x A4 sheets of tiny foam stickers on the Order of Service cards, and finished a reel of cotton on the sewing machine the other day when piecing the latest quilt. So I'm counting those as 3 items as well....
Total now = 198 out of 500Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing
