Paypal: upload money to your paypal account using Amex card. Then withdraw the money back to your bank account. The problem is paypal charge Amex with USD, you need to pay USD to your Amex. You will lose some money on the currency conversion fee.
Moneybooker: basically they same way with paypal. However it charge 1.9% fee if you upload money using Amex card. And I am not sure if they charge Amex with USD or GBP
Any other thoughts?
No cashback, no interest free period, higher APR.You've never seen me, but I've been here all along - watching and learning...:cool:0 -

Was looking at the Bank of Scotland credit cards and noticed they had a cashback card that gives 2% off food and fuel. On looking at the details, there is no mention of it being an introductory offer either.
Since it is 0.5% on all other purchases then a mixture of Egg Money and this card for food and fuel seems to be the best way to use it.
I know there are other cards out there with better rates, but these are intro and you don't need to keep applying for other cards to get these rates.
If you already have a Bank of Scotland card, then you can cancel that card and apply immediately for this one. I did that last year for my 0% card, I have not got this one yet btw.
On looking at my Egg Money statement, it would appear that Tesco, Morrisons, ASDA, Sainsbury and Coop (no loyalty here!) all use this purchase code to identify food and fuel.

THE BANK OF SCOTLAND CASHBACK CREDIT CARD
With this card, you earn 2% cashback on all your grocery and fuel purchases, as well as 0.5% on all other purchases (see below). So you can be rewarded for the simple things you buy every day, like petrol, bread or milk. The fantastic thing is that you don’t have to do anything different – just carry on with your usual purchases and earn yourself a little something extra every time.- 2% cashback on groceries and fuel
- 0.5% cashback on other purchases
- Typical 15.9% APR (variable)
Your total cashback will be shown on your statement each month. Cashback can only be claimed in multiples of £15. Fuel/grocery purchases are identified by a code supplied to us from the store where the purchase is made. Certain stores may not use these codes and 2% cashback will not apply to those purchases.
Any unclaimed cashback will be lost if you are two months or more late in making a payment or the total amount you owe exceeds the credit limit for two months or more. Items which are refunded to your account do not qualify for cashback. You will not earn cashback on purchases made if, in the same month, the total amount you owe is more than your credit limit or you have failed to make your minimum payment on time.

You need to go to the Halifax or Bank of Scotland websites and type in 'cashback card' to the search box to find this. I couldn't see any links on their sites.
Here's one if you need it:
http://www.halifax.co.uk/creditcards/cashback_1.asp for Halifax branded cards or

Interestingly, it looks like they have some more variants planned...

'5' doesn't work, so don't bother trying it.0 -
Copper Plate, Yorkshire Boy...
Well spotted. The Halifax deal looks good, especially with that 10% bonus in the 13th Month!
I am still using my Capital One card at the moment as they have kept the CashBack deal going with their 1% off everything, and no maximum limit.
But Halifax looks a good option B, if Capital One pull the plug...
Great research folks!0 -
Pick the right credit card and you can add £100s a year to your income without the need to do anything. Cashback credit cards pay you each time you spend on them; so provided you pay them off in full each month to ensure you're not charged interest, just use them for all your spending and you'll be quids in.

The Halifax/BOS cashback card - the 1% with the 10% bonus - looks good. The 10% bonus is only payable if you don't claim your cashback for the 12 months and then in the 13th month they calculate the 10% on the cashback remaining. A little bit of an added incentive.0

Thanks JJ.
Have a few questions:
Can you get both BOS and Halifax Cashback cards? ie one for food and the other for other stuff? Will owning one card from the group not exclude you from eligibility for the other?
The other thing is this, if you click on the Quidco/Topcashback link, it directs you to a generic credit card, if you click through to the home page and select the cashback creditcard will you still get the £20 cashback (mouthful I know!)?
One last thing, Egg and Egg Money: Quidco links through to the Egg Card but on the sama page you can get the Egg Money cashback card so will the £30 Quidco cashback be applied?
I think I'm a bit twitchy! LOL!
Thanks.Tough times never last longer than tough people.0 -
