Hi folks, hope you can help.
I have a Barclaycard Platinum, had it for years, always pay off the balance, but I don't get cashback. Not been over bothered about changing the card as I have been in the US for a while and, to be honest, hardly used the thing until now.
So here's the question, if I ring Barclaycard will they let me swap to the cashback card version or will I have to do a seperate application, etc?If anything I say starts to make sense, PANIC!0 -

No, they are very stubborn. I tried to apply for the cashback one, was declined since I already had a Barclaycard. I did get 3% for 3 mths after being on the phone ages. That has run out now, hence my interest in the potentioal offer for Morgan Stanley cardholders.
If you want to make a seperate application, close your current card. Maybe wait 6mths too, although best bet is to ring them see what you get.0 -
Reading this ID fraud article
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cards/identity-fraud
Martin talks about the capital one world cashback card with 1% cashback. However the link does not work, it takes you to a comparison site, and the only cashback card from capital one is 0.5%. Additionally, this card is not mentioned in the 'cashback' article.
However i can find this one their website
http://www.capitalone.co.uk/media/17-december-2007.jsf
Is is still avaliable?
EDIT: phoned them, it isen't0 -
Is there an up to date list of the best cashback deals anywhere?
I know Martin has an article but the deals change frequently.
Can anyone point me to a list?
EDIT:
Just found this one here

I have a question about AMEX cashback.
It's 5% in the first 3 months - I'm not past that.
Then the standard rate is 0.5% up to £3.5K and 1% etc.
If I have spent over £4K in the first 3 months (which is the limit for 5%) then do I go onto 1% cashback or do I have to "start again" at 0.5%.
Thanks0 -

I think it just carries on, so you'd be in the 1% band - on the statement, it says something like "eligable spend to date..." and it's cumulative.
Thanks.
I just called them and they said the same - so you were right.
I also have an Egg Money card which is 1% but the Amex statement dates are preferable.
Unfortunately the hotel I'm going to does not take AMEX, so I'll probably stick with the mastercard because at least it's universally accepted.0 -
my morgan stanley (now barclays) cashback card statement came and with it the statement of changes to the scheme. the higher rate will be the same but instead of it covering the first £2,000 spend over a year, it will cover the first £200 in any month.
not good for me as i only use it for big spends. good thing is you will no longer have to phone to be credited with your cashback.
anyone know of better cards for big one-off spends?0 -
Is the Morgan Stanley cashback card still making a £20 annual charge ? I have been using an egg money card for a short while and it is excellant. Text once a week with the balance also email once a week. Cashback at 1% and credit at 4% when in credit. Can be used as a draw cash without charge when in credit. The other day I purchased and item from Dixons (always check here when going for electrical goods) and received an instant 2½ % on top of the 1% brill!!0

Barclaycard's new Ts & Cs arrived yesterday. There's no mention of an annual fee on my Morgan Stanley Platinum card (now renamed Barclaycard Cashback) but then neither Morgan Stanley nor Goldfish charged a fee for its use. If yours was not a platinum card, it may be too early to celebrate. Please keep us posted. You should receive your letter from B'card any day now.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0
