technology changes, just like why cant i get a mobile phone that just makes and receives calls and allows me to text.
What is this new fangled texting thing?
i dont need a mobile phone that does everything, but go to the toilet for me
Never take a mobile to the toilet. Those insurers never pay out for water damage!

The more professionally customer focused supermarkets observe till queues and have more active tills. They realise they have to be more customers focused and some provide self service tills for customers.

And they charge more money. Low fat mozzarella is 83p at Asda, 44p at Aldi for anyone trying to compare.

Why do you say they are not professional just because you don't like them? Their business purpose is blatant and they make it clear. They are cheap because they don't overstaff the place.

A company is not professional simply because you don't like it. You've used completely the wrong word. It's like me saying you're not a professional consumer!!!!

Anyway you're in no place to be demanding how Aldi run they own business. Don't like it, go somewhere else.

I like shoppoing at Aldi because it saves me money. I don't wanrt someone like you ruining things because they love getting they're own way telling people how to do things that will ultimately end up costing me money. If you think other places are more professional go there then!

Is that why they have not designed a mobile to go for me then.. BTW my mobile insurance does pay for water damage

I expect the same benefits and opportunities at every Aldi store I visit in the UK.

This is currently not the case with Aldi and their approach to customer care and response to their customers complaints locally and from their customer service call centre.is very poor indeed..

When are you going to understand this? Aldi don't answer to you. You don't own Aldi!

I like the self service tills, even the new big ones in out local Asda which have a conveyor and everything so you can do a whole trolley of shopping yourself.

Rarely have to wait or have a problem with operation.

oohhh, I hope those come our way soon. I miss the big self service ones where you can easily do an entire trolly.

I only say that as whenever we do venture to that Green Supermarket we use the self scan big checkouts and every time something goes wrong:mad:

Well feel free to visit your local Aldi store and tell the manager that, but make sure you have someone outside ready to catch you when they throw you out.

    As stated many times

ALDI are FREE to run their OWN business the way THEY want too.

Never said I wanted to make or change the rules. All I said is that I refuse to use self service as I've paid for a service and I wish to receive it.

When you get a receipt does it list a charge for service? Mine only ever has prices for my goods!

When I asked them to operate the empty (proper) checkout instead of walking around asking people to use the empty self service checkouts they also refused and seemed surprised that I asked.

Have you any idea how rude and ignorant this makes you look?

Well firstly I love them. I get to process my items in the correct order for packing so it's more efficient and they take up less space and reduce queues.
But it takes longer per person to get through them compared to a regular checkout as you have to take one thing at a time from your trolley or basket, whizz it past the scanner and then place it in the bagging area.
    lisyloo wrote: »
As for replacing them with proper checkouts, I'm afraid the self-service ones take a lot less space, so you can't swap like-for-like.

One normal checkout is as fast as 2 - 3 self-service checkouts.
    lisyloo wrote: »
Surely it's better for you if other people use the self-service ones reducing the demand for the service you like.

I would agree, but the typical view inside our local Asda is 4 self service checkouts that have 1 or 2 people at them, followed by a complete row of normal checkouts with people queueing up to use them. So it seems most people prefer to use normal checkouts.

when did supermarkets charge you for entering them and using their services?
The service charge is included in the price of the goods.

    Dinosaur!!

Hey, I remember when I could walk into a shop, hand my shopping list to a member of staff, they would then collect the items I wanted, bag them for me, and then tell me the total charge. Now they expect you to find the items yourself (a challenge in itself), scan them all, pay for them and then bag them yourself as well!
