They do this with any tariff if you cancel the DD.0 -
Didn`t know that, thanks. Daft question...how would they know until they came to take the next payment?
I`ll wait now until both meter readings have been sent through.0 -

They must get notification from your bank.
I cancelled mine during a dispute with them about 2 years ago - they knew within 24 hours.
It was a similar timescale during my switch but I preferred going onto standard tariff for 2 weeks during the height of summer rather than give them even more money to hold onto.0 -
Thank you. The gas is due to be changed over about a week after the electricity. I`ll wait until a day or so after (assuming I will hear from EDF) then cancel which I am hopeful will be before the 15th December. No doubt they will take the money more or less straight away. (unless things don`t happen that fast).0

I've just swapped from SP to EDF, have just logged into my closed account with SP and am over £200 in credit. Logged into EDF and I'm £42 in credit yet according to my online banking they haven't taken a payment yet. My leccy went through on 4/11 and gas on 12/11 so what's happening is anyones guess.
Can't see SP transferring any money over to EDF somehow, the mind boggles.2 kWp SEbE , 2kWp SSW & 2.5kWp NWbW.....in sunny North Derbyshire17.7kWh Givenergy battery added(for the power hungry kids)0 -
Hope EDF decide to give me a credit on my account!
I the credit with SP after they have taken whats owing on your account with them? wonder how long they take to do refunds.0 -
well I've just discovered that SP have taken over my supply unauthorized and with no notification from EDF my current supplier (or so I thought). They have managed to close my gas account with no authorization and are in the process of transferring my gas to themselves. EDF say it's been done even though the closure day for the electric is the 26th, and as I pointed out we haven't even got there yet. Have lobbed in a complain..got to wait until Monday to speak to the team. My god...this is going to be a big one..surely this is illegal.0

It would be easier to contact the dead than SP.
A couple of weeks ago I tried ringing them and opted for a call back.
This would take 2 and a quarter hours and so I waited in.
Finally the call back came and they said "putting you through to an advisor now" then the phone went dead.0 -
I can still log in to my SP account but I noticed today the electric now says "closed" but the gas is still active.
(23rd the switch date for gas)
I never received a call from SP since I decided to switch and EDF hasn`t so far asked for readings, which I will note today for both fuels.0 -
Hi 2010, just wondering if you have heard anything from EDF? I thought I might have had a request for a meter reading, but nothing. I have logged onto my account and it says `your supply with us started on the 18th November! I`m off now to read both meters.
Bit odd them not requesting a reading!!0
