If in credit and not in a fixed term, if your DD is due, cancel it before they hold onto more of your cash.
As already mentioned, they split the final bill into two bills for gas and electricity, even if on dual fuel.
If they demand money from the first fuel bill, hold on until the 2nd one if you think the bill isn't right.
They tried to send me the first bill telling me that the amount was due immediately. I had already worked out there was a credit on the 2nd bill that was still to arrive.
They were told to send a combined bill before getting a penny which they did.
I got the same call about staying with them.....
SP: Why are you leaving?
ME: Your customer service is crap.
SP: Would you consider staying if we can get you a cheaper deal?
ME: Never. Bye.0 -
AFAIK EDF will request my meter readings and then contact SP to sort out the change date and give them the final readings to make up the final bill.
Looking at my SP account today I`m well in credit and after the final bills they will still have to refund me.
Katies Mum we are only a day apart, let me know if you hear anything about supplying readings (SP must already have yours if they are finalising your bills), I will do likewise.0 -
Am on a fixed with them until end Feb 2014 (with no tie in). A payment went out of our bank on 15 November (its one payment but goes between gas and electricity) our account with SP is now £259.11 in credit. This amount should easily cover the two accounts and I`m assuming they will just take it from the credit, so can`t unfortunately wait until I have both bills sent to me.
As it is a fixed term is it still ok to cancel the DD?
Many thanks0 -
2010 will let you know if I hear anything, strange how you can access your bill and I can`t!!0
-
I`m on the same tariff as you ends the 28th Feb with SP.
My DD also went out yesterday the 15th and like you well in credit.
I wouldn`t cancel the DD just yet until the switch is complete which should be well before the next DD date.
I`ve just logged into my EDF account and the electric date has been changed from 17th to 18th Nov.
Here`s the status from the EDF site:
Electricity
We expect your supply to start on 18/11/2013
You can see how it's progressing below
Nearly there
Your contract is almost registered. There are just a few meter reading details we need to sort out. If you haven’t heard from us already, we’ll be in touch soon about these. Not long now.
Gas
We expect your supply to start on 23/11/2013
You can see how it's progressing below
Registration in progress
We can now register your contract. We’ll also talk to your previous supplier to let them know you want to change.0 -
Thats the same message I have and my date was also changed by one day. I reckon by the time SP get round to sending a bill then another DD could have gone out in December and I would rather have that money in my account to pay EDF who said their DD would start in December.0

I agree, as long as you have enough in credit to pay SP you could cancel your DD before 15th Dec., as this money is needed for EDF.
I don`t see why it should take three weeks for SP to work out a bill.
It usually takes about two days!0 -
Maybe SP want to hold onto our money as long as they can! if they make everyone with a credit wait at least 3 weeks then it must mount up!0

As you have just paid, you would be as well to leave it as they will move you onto their standard tariff. Cancel it as soon as the switch completes.
My change from SP to EDF took 3 weeks.0 -
Sorry, but confused as to why they will move us onto their standard tarriff as the current tarrif we are on is fixed until the end of February? the electricity is due to be transferred on Monday and the gas a few days later.0
