Is this board beginning to get a little obsessive?
I came here a week or so ago trying to find out about disability parking issues (have blue badge but spaces taken by non disabled drivers), but the only information seems to about how to get off paying and how terrible it is for retailers to try to control parking.

It's not about getting off paying, in fact the advice is quite the opposite - if everyone did pay (assuming they're not using a free car park) then these scammers would be out of business. The advice is given to help people avoid being scammed. Would you be happy to face a demand for £100 for staying 10 minutes too long in a free car park after you'd just spent 15 minutes in a queue at a till, or because you failed to spot a sign stuck ten feet up on pole or hidden in a hedge?

As for controlling parking a lot of these scams take place on car parks that don't need controlling. There's a retail park near where I live for example that has a massive car park that even of Saturday afternoons is rarely more than half full. I very much doubt there's ever been a single case of someone not being able to find a parking space there in the retail park's entire history. And yet they've brought in Parking Lie to "manage" the car park! There's clearly no need for anyone to "control" this particular car park so the only conclusion you can arrive at is that they've been brought in to scam money of customers, many of which will never return.

I don't think it's unreasonable to expect companies to stick to the law. When they consistently don't it seems reasonable that people :

a) Highlight it and make it public
b) Embarrass the company publicly
c) Hold the company to account
d) Assist those that have been victims

Having cameras enforcing a maximum time on the premises frees up 0 abused disabled bays!

Retailers could control parking, however they chose the easy option.

Bear in mind this thread is about The Range and ParkingEye ruining their reputation (not us). In fact we even have a poster (lainieee) who was sued by ParkingEye for a slight overstay even though they and the Range knew she meets the definition of disability; the poor lady has had to jump thru hoops to get the CCJ set aside when it proceeded despite the Range taking the summons paperwork and saying they would cancel it before it got that far... We help a lot of people like that but why should she suffer this detriment (she is about to counter-sue!). That's why we are so obsessed about this scam.

Tons of info on this forum about Blue Badges and disability - and I did already answer to explain that disabled people do not need a BB to park in a private land disabled bay. The Equality Act 2010 applies, not the BB scheme which is Council-only, on-street only, different rules entirely.

You are assuming that cars with no BB do not contain nor are collecting a disabled passenger. This has been discussed to death on here loads of times. I used to collect my wheelchair-using Mum from Tesco once a week, of course i parked in a disabled bay but of course my car would not have shown Mum's BB because she had it with her (and because I knew it doesn't apply, despite the misleading signage from some Rent-a-mob PPC). You can't judge by looking at a car - or even looking at the driver, TBH, and in my view your anger about lack of free disabled bays should be directed at the Store Manager. It would be up to them, not you, to do a proper survey, and not to assume about BB's being the only indicator of a genuine, long-term disabled passenger or driver who might well need that bay as much as a wheelchair user. And maybe the car park simply needs more disabled bays and less of the gimmicky Parent & Child rubbish bays!

You can find older discussion on here by searching the forum for a keyword like 'Equality' or 'disabled'. Search facility on the right above the threads on page one.

No! Because you are only seeing something that affects you, I saw your posts about this last week and replied to them as I think you were being unfair in saying we shouldn't help people because you didn't like the fact that someone parked where they shouldn't have.

The point is that these companies are enriching themselves on the cash cow that are disabled bays, these companies discriminate against disabled drivers, one disabled charity is even in bed with them and earn commission out of it, they encourage people to pay, you know the ones on DLA who ill can afford to pay this scam!

If retailers want to control parking, then they should employ people to do that, so many companies just put cameras up to control, I've never actually seen a camera controlling anything. Your anger should be levied at the people who control these sites, not at people who advise on this forum about this!

Loads kicking off about the Range recently and more disgruntled customers receiving parking charges.

Luckily there are some who are directing those affected how to appeal and to MSE or Pepipoo- Parking Prankster is also giving assistance to those with parking eye charges.

UNLIKE THE RANGE WHO NOW DO OCCASIONALLY RESPOND AND HAVE PERFECTED THEIR PR RESPONSE TO ANGRY CUSTOMERS LIKE THE ONE BELOW:

FROM THE RANGE:
Hello Allan. Please be reassured that all guidelines are followed in accordance to the British Parking Association. You are able to appeal against the notice you have been issued, please follow the steps documented on the Parking Charge Notice and provide your Proof of Purchase from The Range where your case will be reviewed by the issuer. Customer Service Team.
All guidelines are followed ......... :rotfl::rotfl:

SO DONT EXPECT ANY HELP FROM THE RANGE THEN!

Bump!

Someone should remind the Range about the poster (Lorraine, aka lainieee on here) who has had to scrabble around getting a CCJ set aside after The Range Southampton agreed to cancel her PE fake PCN, as she is disabled...then the Range didn't bother and the claim went ahead by default. The Range shoud be aware that this lady plans to counter sue next month and name the Range as a party to proceedings, for Equality Act breach (monetary damages) after she's brushed off the PE claim. She has written to tell them that they are liable but been brushed off.

Another happy customer at The Range
so i take my grandma into your st helens store very often to have a cup of tea in a morning and a walk round your store. back in sept i was late leaving your carpark by 20minutes as i had to feed my 4month old son, to which i have a reciept from also shopping in store. I then recieved a parking fine for this to which i appealed and lost. This is disgusting!!!!! how you rob people like this is out of order. Our local newspaper has on many occassion posted articles about this. you have a cafe in your store, do you not think it would be more appropriate to extend the time allowed, or put a pay and display on your carpark! You are losing custom because of this!
