Also, I'm so glad that you're feeling so positive about the washing machine situation. You're right, you'd have been up the creek without a paddle if it was this time last year so this is awesome progress, even if your savings has taken a hit!

I think ours might take a hit soon too actually- husbands car looks like it needs more done to it than we thought, we need a new Hoover and we have a few other expenses coming up that I want to put some money to. Plus we'd like a wee holiday, so might dip into it a bit to pay for some of that. I'm not sure yet. I was talking to husband about it last night and he thinks it's a good idea to use savings for these things and then building them up rather than trying to just get by using our current account money then finding ourselves short later in the month and having to dip into savings anyway.

I think he's right. Sometimes we need to take a couple of steps back to move forward comfortably :)

That's a really good price for a washing machine too, especially because delivery, installation and recycling is included :) hope it's a good un!

I'm off out this afternoon/evening. My extended family (just the ladies) have a ladies day every three/four months and we take it in turns to host them. It's just a gathering at one mod our houses with some food, some drinks and plenty of chat! The last couple have been good and it's nice to have some time away from being mummy so I'm looking forward to it. I'm taking a bottle of fizz (from Aldi, of course!).

Any nice plans, apart from food shopping?

    Meal plan written:

Sat (today)- Beef and Veg Chow mein, prawn crackers
    Sun-Sort of paella
Mon-Spanish Style Chicken and garlic bread
    Tue-Enchiladas and salad
    Wed-Cottage pie
    Thur-IFITS
    Fri-Chicken Apricot Salsa, nann bread.

Packed lunch list also written :) Now to add the 'bits and bobs' part (Bread, milk etc).

No other plans other than to clean the kitchen and bathroom today- Rock ' Roll!

I agree that its better to buy the things you need and then not touch the savings later on in the month.
Re the hoover- Make sure you check out hotukdeals.com for any good deals, also have a look at eBay Outlet stores. Argos, currys/PC world and Dyson all have outlet shops on eBay.

I bought my Dyson 7 years ago and its still going strong, so I would highly recommend a Dyson.

Have a great time at your Ladies night, that sounds fun!

Well done! Glad you got the list sorted :) now to just buy it all!!

We've had a Dyson for as long as I can remember- was given to us by MIL. We'll definitely get a Dyson again, because it's been excellent until now.

We'll need to sit down and see how much we need and for what, then maybe just take a chunk out the savings, do it all at once just so that we can get cracking on building the savings back up! Who knows. Need to sit down properly and look at numbers.

I don't want to part with my precious pennies that I've saved so hard for!!! Wahhh!! *petulent child alert*

WantToBeSE, well done on the washing machine - it is good to know that these things are affordable (ie won't put one further into debt than one already is :o:o:o yes, that was me one time too!) I hope you're having a lovely day down Cornwall way - it's a beautiful day out there. :)

When making purchases on line, are you going through Topcashback?

    Good afternoon everyone :)

Food shopping has been done! I spent £25 in Aldi and £10 in Morrisons.
I'll definitely need some extra fruit and veg during the week, but that SHOULD be it!

Cathy- Its not very nice here today! Misty and grey! Glad you are having some lovely weather though. My mum lives in Kent and says its lovely up there too. I hope you are enjoying it :)

TM6- Noooo, I totally forgot about that, shame on me!!

    Good afternoon All :)

I hope everyone is having a lovely day? My Mum was very happy with her delivery from Next (flowers and chocolates) so I am in her good books :D
I did, however, forget to change the clocks before I went to bed! Haha, oh well, I cant be TOTALLY perfect!

My new washing machine arrived at 11am this morning and has alreay done 5 loads! The weather is beautiful here today so have been making the most of it by getting all the washing done! I am really pleased that I spent the money on a new WM, it looks very nice in my kitchen :)
Its A+++ rated so will save me money over time. In my old machine, a load (at 30 degrees) would take 1hr 15mins. This new one does the same in 27 mins!

I have been watching Sherlock Holmes on the TV for the past few hours and am relaxing a LOT!

Will update my signature now :)
