Need help with car dealer lies

You have the wrong paperwork, but that's not important. Get the car back today and get your money back. SRS warning light can be thrown up at the MOT just because the tester moves the drivers seat for the first time in a year and the connection below the seat is disturbed and it's nothing to fix, up to literally thousands for a dealer fix for other faults.
This.
As I said, you've got the two bits of paper the wrong way round. These guys sounds like a right pair of plums. What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -
Ok I've just rang home, the bits i've got are:
Small slip for old car, which I think I have to send off to DVLA
Larger bit of paper for the new car.
Just spoke to VOLA, The car has an MOT, but it is from March and expires April 2014, the new MOT was put through and refused on the 18th October.
This is the info from the VOSA website:
Reason(s) for refusal to issue Certificate
Supplementary Restraint System warning lamp indicates a fault (5.4.2)
No Advisory Notice issued
Meaning it failed on only the airbag, surely this cant be a massivly expensive fix, so I don't know why they didn't just fix it and give me a years MOT instead of lying to me, I guess they thought by the time the old MOT expires in April I won't be able to go back to them about any issues.
So they have lied to me by saying it has passed the MOT, they told me they would have the certificate today so thats another lie, and they have lied to me twice about ordering tax, obviously they can't order tax as I have the MOT certificate from March.
I really don't know what to do now, if I go there (not alone) does anyone think they will actually give me a refund? As they have sold me a car which isn't road worthy. Could I threaten to take them to a small claims court?
What Car and what year is this. Only reason i ask is i had this 3 years ago when i bought my focus but at that time this was only a Advisory on MOT and i got it pass 2 MOTs before this became a automatic Fail in this years MOT changes. found out its usually because of the ECU and it just needed changing.
Mine was not expensive, £50 ebay part and £60 for Labour and job sorted and i didn't even have locate the part. Mechanic asked if i wanted a Brand new one from dealer which would be expensive or a ebay one which hold no warranty but much cheaper. I went with the latter as my car is MK1 and wasn't worth much apart from sentimental value and joy to drive
i think this dealer is definitely swindling you and you need to act quick, i know its a pain but i would take a couple days off work and drive up to the dealer or have the car towed up there and demand it fixed there and then and hang around until you either get a refund or the issues resolved0 -
Ok, thanks again for all the replies.
I've just phoned the citizen advice line, as the car wasn't sold in satifactory quality, I can demand that it is fixed or ask for a refund, im guessing they won't want to give me a refund and will instead say they will fix it, and this will drag it out much longer to the point where they will try and say its too late to do anything.
I'm going to go there to ask for my money back, but I don't want to go alone so I need to wait until saturday when my mums boyfriend is coming with me. Failing that i've been advised to send a letter to them recorded delivery asking for the refund, and I guess the final stage if they don't play ball would be legal action.
If I paid £1600 cash and £900 part exchange how would the refund work?
Also the lady I spoke to at the advice line has reported them to trading standards.0 -

Its a Honda Civic 2002. Looking at the MOT history there was an advisory for the SRS light being on in the 2009 MOT test, but it doesn't appear again on any other tests up until now.
If I took it to a garage would they be able to tell me the price to fix it?0 -

Either they'll need to give you your part exchange vehicle back plus £1600 cash, or they'll need to re-imburse you the £2500.
You will stand to lose a bit, as if you then tried to purchase the same car as you PXd, you'll probably find it'll cost you more than £900 to do so.
Moral of the story here, and a hard-won lesson, is that you NEVER pay for the goods until you are satisfied with them.
A costly mistake you won't make again, I'm sure.0 -

Im a little confused, where you say it will cost me more than £900 to do so, would I be expected to buy the car back at their resale value then?
And yes I definatly rushed into it, and regret doing so0 -
when I rang them in the week to enquire about the airbag, not knowing about all this MOT mess, they told me the part was ordered and they would fit it for me.
Do you think theres a chance they have ordered the part, and were planning on fitting it and doing the MOT and just assuming I would never find out it hasn't passed?
I'll happily keep the car if it passes the MOT and the problem is sorted, but they most likely are lying about ordering the part as they have lied about everything else.0 -
If they do agree to fix it. When you collect, make sure the light has not just been disconnected and they have slipped the tester a few quid.when I rang them in the week to enquire about the airbag, not knowing about all this MOT mess, they told me the part was ordered and they would fit it for me.

No - I'm saying if they no longer have the car you PXd (ie. they've punted it out to auction or sold it) then they will have to give you £2500 in cash.
If you then wanted to replace the car you had before with exactly the same thing (ie. to put you in the same position you were in before all of this), it'll cost you more than £900.0
