Really looking forward to having the string quartet. It's another expense but we're never doing this again and it's something we'd both like so we might as well splash out a bit extra and have the touches we really want on the day. I've saved loads buying my dress in a local independent shop in their sale and my adult bridesmaid dresses were much cheaper than I'd budgeted for so we've not had to cut back on anything else to have the quartet. Emailing the paperwork off today.
We've had a lovely morning in town and have bought my two girls their bridesmaid dresses (can't call them flower girls apparently. They're bridesmaids and that's that!) and shoes from Monsoon. First dress they've tried on and they both loved itLovely floaty material and beautiful shoes too so they're both happy and I've been saved the stress of trailing round a million shops whilst they try on dresses! Win Win
Confirmed with the florist who's doing our venue flowers as part of the package I would like her to do my bouquets etc and have an appointment in just over a week to go over the finer details.
Paid off the honeymoon today too. It's all coming together nicely now. The last main thing to do is for my darling groom to PLEASE sort the suits out!!! It's not too much to ask is it???!!Extra savings aim for 2020 £4,000 £0/£4,000

However the venue has a PA system (its an events venue) which we are going to plug an ipod into and I've made up a spotify playlist of around 800 songs for the day. Going to put this on shuffle and use it for the Drinks Reception/Dinner.
Ours is a marquee so I don't think they will have the set up for this sort of thing but I shall make a mental note to ask the manager tonight. Otherwise it will have to be a docking station somewhere.
Is that a paid spotify membership type thing then? (I know people who have used Spotify but have never used it personally and wonder if this would work out simpler than trying to merge both of our current music from our phones - we both seperately download albums straight to our phones)Really looking forward to having the string quartet. Sounds like you have made great progress Cat! Its definitely all rolling together now - well done you!
How did you find your quartet or did you know of them already? Do you mind me asking a ball park of how much they are costing you?:j Married to the Love of my Life 02.08.2014 - Now I'm Mrs E :j

Yeah I already have a membership with Spotify. Its £10 a month and I use it to listen to music at work on my phone. You can also make playlists available offline which is technically saving it to your phone/ipod so that you don't need internet to listen to the music (handy because I don't think there is any internet at our venue). I know you use to be able to pay for one month (or even use the free 1 month trial), make up the playlist and set it to offline on your device then cancel your membership and the playlist would still work. Not sure if thats still the case but might be worth looking into.Married 30/08/14 :heartpuls0 -

ThanksThey're called Highly Strung and my OH found them online. They have some recordings on their website and a massive list of songs. I know they're based in Notts I think and cover Lincolnshire (where I am!) as well as other areas but can't remember if the top of my head.
We're having them for 3 hours (ceremony plus 'drinks reception' or whatever it is you call the bit before the sit down meal!) and it's costing £610. We've saved £30 by booking within 7 days of enquiry and paying the full cost in one go. They do from one hour although can't remember the price for that. Hope that gives you something to go on xExtra savings aim for 2020 £4,000 £0/£4,000

They sound absolutely FAB Cat but they will be of NO USE to me whatsoever as I have just seen that you are getting married on the same day as me LOL!! So they won't be available!!! I am also in Lincolnshire though so had it been a diff day it would have been great!! Date Twins!
Sazzarella I am DEFFO going to look into Spotify tonight as that sound perfect!!! I wouldn't mind paying for one month to be able to do that either. How ideal!! :j:j Married to the Love of my Life 02.08.2014 - Now I'm Mrs E :j

Haha yes, don't think there's 8 of them to go round unfortunately
I'm in Lincoln itself, well we live on the outskirts, don't think I could cope with living in town! Any Saturday in summer must be popular for weddings so I knew there would be lots of other brides up and down the country getting married on 2nd Aug but it'll be nice to know that as I'm walking down the aisle they'll be another bride in Lincolnshire who's being going through similar stresses etc enjoying a lovely day with her new husband
Our ceremony is at 1pm, what time are you?
Been getting rsvp's through the post which is lovely and the hair and beauty side of things is starting to come together. I need to find someone to alter my dress round the bust cos I ain't going up a cup size or 2 in the next 3 months no matter how hard I try!Extra savings aim for 2020 £4,000 £0/£4,000

Our ceremony is also at 1pm! I'll think of you as I'm starting the long walk down the aisle! We'll (hopefully) both be doing it on time!! We're North Lincolnshire - about 45mins away from Lincoln.
We've had a slow trickle of RSVPs but I have a horrid feeling we're going to be chasing a lot more - when is your RSVP date? We picked 31st May as figured it gave me easily a month before venue would start asking for confirmed dates. Luckily my Caterer is very flexible and will wait up until the week before for final numbers. Oh dear - no they are not going to increase that much even with chicken fillets!! I was really surprised about the RSVP's. We sent out approx 80 invitations and have received back 60 RSVPS already, even though the date to have returned them is mid July. The stragglers that havent replied yet are family that live down south (I guess not sure if they are coming up yet which is fair enough) and some really badly organised friends. Actually there is one "friend" who loves himself and would be the type of person to not RSVP on purpose but turn up anyways expecting to be fed. Im only inviting him because of OH but secretly hope he doesnt turn up
haha!

Eeek! Date and time twins! Really is a small world
We've got 62 in total who've been invited and had RSVPs that cover 19 people. Some I'm expecting not to get a physical RSVP (even though they're included with the invitations) as we see OH's family every Sunday and my brother is over in Oz so don't don't expect him to post his back and I know he's coming anyway!
Originally when I was on track with the invites we put 2nd May but with email issues (my emails weren't being received so things didn't progress as quickly as I hoped) we had it put back to 2nd June (purely because I'm a bit anal about things matching and the RSVP date takes us to exactly 2 months before the wedding lol). We know all the bridal party's families are coming and some of the bigger groups i.e. my auntie and uncle and their 3 adult children plus a spouse, but it's the couples and 3 single people we can't be sure on and it's their RSVP's we haven't got back yet. It's early days though, only posted them on 16th April and we've had a long Bank Holiday weekend in between and people might be checking out accommodation and time off work first etc. Need to get on with posting evening invitations now, must get some addresses first though!
I got my dress from a little place based on a farm (sounds strange I know!) that's literally 5 minutes drive from my house that I didn't even know existed until I started looking for local shops! They don't do alterations there and to be honest it's not THAT big round the bust area but it would look even better if it's adjusted. 36B isn't all that bad but the dress makers obviously expected them to be a tad bigger
According to hitched.com it's 100 days until our weddings! :T and :eek:Extra savings aim for 2020 £4,000 £0/£4,000

I have someone who I secretly hope doesn't turn up too but unfortunately it's the GF of my future BIL and she's def coming and returned their RSVP straight away. No one in the family likes her all too much and she'll expect everyone to be fawning over her as she's so flipping marvelous in her eyes (read selfish and self-centred to everyone else). Anyway...moving on, I shall not become a Bridezilla over her...even though she's already made the seating plan a small challenge as noone wants to sit with her!
Hopefully you'll get the rest of your RSVPs soon and that'll be one thing sorted and ticked off. Fingers crossed 'friend' can't make it.... :cool:Extra savings aim for 2020 £4,000 £0/£4,000
