August 2014 Brides and Grooms

Hi all,
Thought i,d pop my head in.
We,re getting married 30th August, we,re both older, and are having a small celebration, only about 20 guests.
Registry office, meal at our favorite restaurant who are opening especially for us, then on for drinks with loads of friends in the evening.
Its all pretty sorted but -
As Its a civil ceremony, and we need 3 songs one for me to arrive to, one for the signing and one for the resessional - this is causing us massive headaches we first thought-
Arrive - Etta James - At last
Sign - Paul Weller - You do something to me
And for the ressessional something fun - do you think 'We go together' from the film Grease if too - well - silly? The other options are signed, sealed, delivered - Stevie Wonder or It must be love - madness
Would appreciate some 'outide' viewsNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Tasha, sorry I missed you're reply. I've not actually sorted any of the stuff out either and now guitarist friend has fallen off the map so we are going to stick with an ipod - still have to pick songs arg.
I did ask the venue about going in but they are not allowing anything to be setup until 11am!! The company putting up the drapes reckon it will take 2 hours to get them up so really the room wont be ready until 1ish at which point ill be well busy getting made up! However OH knows exactly what I want and is planning to go and will send me a photo. Hopefully it all works out.
Some 77ish days for me!Married 30/08/14 :heartpuls0 -

Oh god seems harsh that you can only go in a few hours before the actual event but at least you can trust OH to do what you want.
Not good news about the guitarist but an iPod is just as good and maybe easier in a way if you were fretting about what to ask this friend to play. Apparently my Toastmaster comes with his own full PA system and plays lurvee songs when he's not toasting (lol) so that solved a problem. Although we haven't been able to get hold of him yet so tad worried about that!
I had a crisis last week when my Florist pulled out!!! She had over committed herself and one of her staff quit so she dropped out on us claiming it was because we had booked too late (we originally spoke to her in October 13 and confirmed the order in March 14) but all is well now and I managed to find a new Florist who, to be honest, I feel more comfortable with! *YAY* :T
Islandmaid I think you should go with 'It must be love' out of those choices... Although the Grease song would be very fun maybe you should keep that for entry music to your reception?!:j Married to the Love of my Life 02.08.2014 - Now I'm Mrs E :j

 6 weeks tomorrow!! We've still got so much to do. Why did we think a DIY wedding was a good idea?!
My dress is finally finished, place cards are almost done thanks to my amazing mum, we've found a great florist who delivers flowers by the bucketload so we'll be using those to decorate the venue the night before, need to buy all the rest of the decorations and make the paper flowers and decorate jars as candle holders, bridesmaids finally have dresses but I need to sorry their gifts, the list goes on and on!
Oh and we haven't got any music at all!!
Please someone tell me it'll all come together in time before I have a breakdown!Getting married 02.08.14
Wins for the wedding: membership for a 'wedsite' and app, £35 gift voucher for party supplies shop, £50 worth of hand painted signs, 1kg of heart shaped marshmallows :money:0 -

This weekend I made the Skittles Vodka for the favours and next weekend I'm going to have a trial run at the rainbow fudge that will go alongside it. Also decided to send out a reminder msg to people who have no RSVP'd yet which was actually only about 10 people out of 100!!! So everything seems to be going swimmingly so farMarried 30/08/14 :heartpuls0 -

I have to say I'm getting slightly stressed now. I pretty much organised everything last year and promptly forgot about it all. Now my hen night is next week and the wee man is tiring me out with 5am wake up calls
3 weeks is not long, is everything sorted? I'm sure it will be wonderful on the dayx

More or less, we have the usual last minute bits such as seating plans to finalise, orders of service etc to print but I THINK it is all coming together.:T
Having some SERIOUS bridesmaid issues.. for example, seemingly, she had planned to turn up to wear th £200 dress I have bought for her (not very MSE I know) and pose for pictures.. I asked her what size bag she would have so I can suss out what bits I can put in there and she told me she isn't planning to have one and doesn't see why she should buy one (and what exactly would I expect to put in there). Apparently she feels I am using her as a 'service' which she didn't think it was - I told her to Google 'being a bridesmaid'.
I feel VERY frustrated with her. She came to my hen night out (in Nottingham) with £20 in her purse!!! Knowing we would need a taxi in and back and were getting food (all of which she would obviously be expected to contribute towards) and then going for a good ol' bender. I ended up paying for her drinks all night!!   I wouldn't mind but of those of us who went out she is the one who lives at home still etc so hasn't got the kind of outgoings as the rest of us do.
We are meeting in a few minutes to talk face to face as I feel if we don't sort it out soon someone else is going to have to wear her dress and she won't be coming at all!!:j Married to the Love of my Life 02.08.2014 - Now I'm Mrs E :j
