Is anyone getting married next August? I saw threads for other months but not August and my wedding is in August!
So far we have booked the ceremony and we are almost decided on the venue for the reception, and that's it!
Plenty to do but there's plenty of time

Yay Sazzarella, wedding twin! So far we have..
Booked the venue (having ceremony, meal and evening do there)
Made appointment to give notice
Booked registrar
Booked photographer
Insurance bought
Rings ordered
Dress bought
Shoes bought
Save the dates done and ready to go
Invites in plan
So need to sort flowers, suits and bridesmaids. Plus favours but have an idea re what we will do. Then need to sort cake and decoration etc out but have all the big things covered.
OP, it may seem like you have plenty of time but believe me it flies! Remember you're getting married in peak season so suppliers are likely to be busy and get booked up well in advance.

Thanks both of you!
Robyn, who do you need to make an appointment with to give notice? Is it the registrar?0 -

Yay I've been waiting for an August thread! We're August 9th
we've done pretty much everything except buy our wedding rings. Trying to decide between a plain band and one with diamonds. Decision! Just ad my bridesmaids over today to try on their dresses, getting very excited! Xx

YayI agree about time flying in, we started with 18 months to go and now we are at 9!!

I have paid £270 for a MUA/Hair duo for me and 2xbridesmaids. They came highly recommended and will be coming out to the hotel where we are staying on the night before the wedding. I know I could have got cheaper if I was willing to go to the hairdressers in the morning but I just can't be doing with the faff! They use MAC and Benefit.DubPrincess wrote: »Yay I've been waiting for an August thread! We're August 9thwe've done pretty much everything except buy our wedding rings. I got a diamond wedding band like this as it matches my engagement ring. It's very pretty.Married 30/08/14 :heartpuls0 -
Yay!! I'm getting married 2nd August 2014 - engaged unofficially in June officially in September (he wanted to do the big proposal on our holiday but we were eager to start getting things booked with it being peak season)
So far we have sorted
Venue - our Parish church
Reception - a Country Hotel which is local to us and in a nature reserveWe have quite a comprehensive package with them which includes quite a lot
Photographer - a friend who is starting up her own business
Disco - local company, great timing as he has put his prices up now
Cars - vintage roller from a guy round the corner from my Grandma (came in £200 cheaper than similar cars!)
Dress - from The Big Day in Castleford, its a plus size shop and I recommend them to EVERYONE
Shoes - BARGAIN £2.87 in the sale, plain ballet pumps I want comfort and function, it will be a long day!
Bmaid dresses (3 little ones and one adult) - from Cheeky Little Madams in Birmingham (online) we saw them at NEC Wedding Show and were very impressed
Suits - from Greenwoods, rentals as we have 9 men all together, little boys are getting rented waistcoats and ruches to match the men but will buy trousers and shirts from M&S
H2B shoes - off Ebay, he is an awkward size 13 shoe and hard to get (never in store!!)
Stationary - save the dates are out, invites half made but a lot of work left to go
Hair - booked my hair dresser who is a lovely home hairdresser, practices £10 and on the day £15
Make up - not officially booked but I know who I am asking - daughter of an (older) friend hopefully not going to charge me a lot
Favours - bought half but going to do the Cancer Research charitable donation for a pin as well
Gifts - bmaids bought, grooms men yet to decide..
Rings - there is a local jeweller who I saw at a wedding show who makes all their stuff inhouse so I am going to go and see what they can do us in the new year
Sometimes feel overwhelmed by how much we have left to do until I sit and reel off what we have done like that...
So we are praying to the sun gods for next year then eh ladies?! :rotfl::rotfl::j Married to the Love of my Life 02.08.2014 - Now I'm Mrs E :j

For me I am getting married at home which is abroad so there are lots of decisions are contracts going to be arranged at Christmas and Easter as that's the only time we'll probably have to meet people. Thankfully we're a midweek wedding so although it's in August they still want our business!
Done:
- Ceremony booked.
- Reception booked - includes food (and overnight for wedding party)
- Wedding party chosen
- Dress style chosen
- Ceremony singer - family member
- Contacted most guests as an alternative to save the date - to let them know of the location and date.
- Pre-band entertainment on track
- Researched photographers and have decided what we want
- Contacted bands and had quotes.
Appointments made for Christmas:
- Priest
- 2 bridal shops
- 2 suit rental places for h2b and dads and bros
- Going to see a band we really like playing at a wedding in our reception venue.
Appointments for Easter:
- Registrar
- Suit fittings and bridesmaid dress shopping0 -
I've just booked the wedding insurance with my-weddinginsurance.co.uk. Fingers crossed we won't need to find out if they are good at delivering.
I hope you are all getting on well, I'm sure you are weddinged out and looking forward to a rest over Christmas. I certainly am, although we will have lots of wedding appointments too!
I still need to book some visits to photographers to see their finished wedding albums before we can choose one.0
