Hi everybody,
I hope you all had a good weekend, and you're all fetteled for the week ahead.
I fell off the wagon again since my last post as Hubby and I decided to use a voucher for a free night stay in a jacuzzi suite at a hotel. Of course some spends were involved as we had additional petrol to pay for, plus some meals out, but we felt we really needed this mini break as we've both been working hard, both at work and at home, and we haven't had a holiday together since last November (even then it was only 3 days away ). So once I've tallied up the spends associated with the mini break I'll probably sneak on here and slip it into the figures somewhere.
I've had a small spend today at the supermarket, I didn't spend as much as I would have because the place looked like it had a closing down sale. It isn't closing down, but quite a few of my usual stuff wasn't available, and the fruit and veg section had a lot to be desired so I didn't bother buying substitutes I'll just do without and work around it. Anyway, apart from that, the scores on the doors are:
Food 162.31 / 187.50 86.57%
Petrol 138.13 / 225.00 61.39%
Local food bank 0 / 3.00
Hair 0 / 62.50
Works Xmas Party 0 / 3.25 (Raffle contribution - goes to local charity)
Dentist 18.75 / 18.75 (Had my appointment and no costs were incurred so 12.50 has gone to a gift contribution and 6.25 has gone into the Mortgage OP Pot.)
Total 319.19 / 500.00 GBP 63.84%
SFD 13 / 25
Declutter 7 / 20
Extra money earned/made 0 / 80.00
Misc Spends 39.54 / 0
Kilometres:
Start of challenge figure 93008 }
End of day 18 figure 94405} driven 1397km (873. miles)
I spent all day Sunday clearing out the spare bedroom, and whilst I may not have got rid of masses I did rid ourselves of 3 pillows, 3 cushions, a load of biscuit tins that I'd saved 'just in case to store stuff in', which all went to recycling or the tip, and a pair of shoes to the thrift store.
I need to come back and edit my kilometres at some point. -Done
Looking forward to next month's challenge0 -
Thanks Thrifty and Tiptoes
I am not usually the most organised person in the world but am not bad when I have a deadline!
Have cancelled my work Xmas lunch, Xmas party on 21st and Lunch/shopping day on 22nd! Hoped to rearrange the lunch/shopping for earlier in the month but my friend has no cash until pay day (22nd Dec) so will save a fortune all in all. Was also planning a night out on the 28th so might be ok for that one.. will have to see.
On a brighter note, I have arranged a night out for 6th December and then a friend to come round (we don't see each other that often mostly due to working different hours/days) the week after my op which will be lovely. Hope to arrange a few more of these socials while I am recuperating
I need to go into town on Friday to get my ipad finally fixed. My son dropped it on the patio :eek::eek: in the summer and I have had no money spare to get it fixed. I bought a groupon voucher for a screen repair last month so hopefully that will be all it needs. Just need to book it in. The shop isn't an area I usually go to which is why I haven't been up to now. I was going to go last fri but had to go to the city to do my mystery shop instead. It would be lovely to get it back before I am at home and bored though
Christmas tree will be going up on the first Saturday in December after a good old clean! When are you putting yours up? I have a facebook friend (old school friend) who has hers up already!
Anyway back to the here and now, I had better get ready for work in a mo. Thinking I might need to do a food shop today or tomorrow... will update later. Last night husband went out for a curry and I was quite envious. By supper time I was really fancying curry but I had nothing in to make curry quick so I had beans on toast with some curry powder in! Cheap and cheerful but not quite the same! I often have curry in the freezer but at present what is left all appears to be fruit or pasta sauce. I have got some pasta sauce base out for later which I will add beans & veg to bulk it out.
Oh yes, and sold another couple of bits on ebay so need to update the total. Am going to count my mystery shop money in my make extra too so might actually make my target by the end of the month :j UPDATE- Just added it up and I have - Yay! Will see if I can get £100 by the end of the month.
Got a meeting this morning so need to set off a bit earlier than usual so better go and get cracking. Have made a sandwich to avoid a spend at the deli! Have a good day'Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain'0 -
Morning,
Sold some more items on ebay yesterday so thats £70 made for that! Adding that to my OT which is £60 and the money made on suverys which is £11.00 I've made £141 this month so I'm really pleased with that!
Shopping I have really struggled with this month. Although there is £10 left in the tin DH has been buying bits here and there and I've lost count nowhe just cannot stick with the budget! He works in a supermarket so can come home with stuff any day but he forgets to take the money from the tin! I have even sent him with money and he still buys it on card then complain he can't keep doing it WELL TAKE THE MONEY WITH YOU AND USE IT THEN!!!! So I think we have hit £200 for this month but as I said there is a tenner left in the tin. We are running out of lots of stuff now so I need to really be clever with the shopping list for next month.
In fact I think DH is putting his head in the sand, he doesn't open CC bills and one I noticed the other month had run out of 0%he hasn't transferred me the money from our savings for the vaccum cleaner either. Feel I am fighting a losing battle. I am trying so so hard to pay off debts and save but he just ignores his. I have seen his card statements so I know he isn't hiding any from me, I'm going to suggest once he finally pays his off that he closes them all and we use my shopping credit card. Sure that will fall on deaf ears though! Guess I just wait till he has his LBM!
Other than the realisation that I can drag a horse to water I can't force him to drink, I think it's been a very successful month!Squirrelling away in September No 33It's not about the money, it's about financial freedom, being in control of it and living in the natural world and not a material world0 -

Back in Germany ours would go up on the 24th of Dec and come down on the 6th of Jan. Which I think is too short. So here I put it up on the 12th of Dec. Although this year it'll be the 19th as I will go back home on the 12th.
Today should be SFD number 16, other wise not much to report.
Oh the temptations. Got my wallet (no cash in it though) in with me today as I wanted to buy two vouchers to complete my bigger christmas shops (comes out of the christmas pot). So the temptation was there to then go to the bank and get my travel money (actually not budgeted till next month). But the danger is too big to go past a cash machine and get money to buy lunch (only got porridge today). So I shall NOT leave the building. I stay at my desk and eat my porridge, the travel money can wait. Even though chips would only be £1.70 I don't actually want to ruin an SFD and spend the money.

Hah! Yes it is me who is the scuba diver. I think your best bet is asking any local divers you may know, then after that try your local dive shop- ours will sell things for you on their website (I assume they must take a cut). Gumtree is an option. I think the problem you'll have is that most dive gear is big, oddly shaped and bulky so postage may be difficult. Local collection is the way forward, that and people may want to try on some of the stuff. If you're in West Yorks let me know. PM me too if you wantGood luck, though I'm sad to see a diver no longer diving. I love it

Hurrah, more Xmas tree talk! DH and I are feeling festive. We discussed the Xmas tree thing last night and have decided to go for a compromise to our normal 6-8ft real pricey one. We still want real, but we're going to get a cheaper short one, say 3ft. We've both got Xmas off this year which is a shocker. I've worked every Xmas for the last 7years apart from one when I was ill! It'll be weird celebrating Xmas on Xmas day and with my loved ones not other people.:rotfl: We'll be getting our wee tree as soon as they're in the shops... Surprised they're not in already tbh, I didn't see any with the Halloween stuffShops are slacking!
Either today or tomorrow will be my 4th spend day to get my last food shop of this payday (week tomorrow!) and a few online bits. Can't decide. I originally planned for tomorrow as I was meant to be working today, but swapped yesterday so my colleague could go to a job interview. I'll see how I feel after the gym.
SFDs- 15/25. No.16 will be today or tomo. On track to hit 25. But I have a training day on Sunday for 2nd job which I am hoping is all indoors, not near pubs or caf!s. I always carry my own food and drinks (big handbag!) as part of my fitness thing. Saturday my best girl has announced she's coming over to see me. She knows of these challenges and my financial strife, so will be understanding. But I wanna do something with her, that's free of course. She's from the neighbouring County so it'd be easy to take her on a wee tour of my Town and hometown, I have plenty fuel with being on hols for a week and then ear infected so another week where I didn't drive. Thoughts?
Just because everyone is often saying that they're feeling down or meh, I shall share that I'm feeling good. I'm feeling happy. I'm feeling productive. I'm feeling positive. These are all good as I have my presentation to write for my job interview A WEEK TODAY!! Plans- cuppa, gym, then either shops & Mum or presentation.

Checking in after the weekend: two more SFDs and two more spend days to report.
I was getting worried about my bank balance because it was looking a whole lot worse than expected this month. Then I realised my new project at work is costing me about £100 a week in expenses  Which I will get back, but not until the paycheck after the month I spend the money (ie. November expenses are logged at beginning of December, after Dec pay check, so will be paid in January pay check). It is completely messing up my finances, because lets be honest when you have debts it's all about cash flow.Total debt: [STRIKE]£9473.62[/STRIKE] £7,384.87 22% PAIDTAF #25 NSD 8/12 | Food £43.45/£50 | eBay 0/20 | Exercise 5/18:T Proud to be Dealing with my Debt :TDFD: June 20150 -

Thanks, fyggy. I was thinking along those lines. Dh has been charged with locating a shop, and if I use gumtree, then it'll be collection only. We're only looking to sell as we've not dived in over 10 years and the kit is just gathering dust. The pennies and the space would both be welcome.
Well done :T :T. :T on your nsds. Impressive indeed! And I like my mental image of your handbag! I always take food + drink for me and dd, but am more of a rucksack person.
Have had nsd 11 - yay! And I went for a run(first since about feb - oopsie), raked the leaves off the lawn, only to have the pesky tree replace many of them, and pulled up some rasp canes.
Have another binbag and box for the charity shop.Very satisfying indeed.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
I am at work all alone. There are two other people here out of an office of 45 people. Me thinks I might leave early. I have nowt else to do for the evening and technically leave at 1900...
So how is everybody this fine evening. Cold don't you think?? My little hands nearly dropped off on the way to work... then I nearly fainted for the heat in the tubes is so HIGH.....
Anyhoo.. it's been a dull old day for me.. with nowt much going on.
I am going to have a look at a house tomorrow after work. A box room for £300 (all inclusive) sharing with three boys....... I think they all work shifts which might help so perhaps I need to suck it up and just accept that not many other places will offer a room at that price, and a cat and have a safe place for the motorbike as this place does - lets hope I am not literally living on top of Dorothy.....
Anyone else excited about the Hunger Games on Thursday.. I am going on my own that's how excited I am....:T:T:T
I had another OT shift granted for the 30th November... this means I have three more shifts to go and will have bolstered January's pay by £645. What a price for a life eh?... It's gonna be tough this weekend with the snow/cold coming in. Let's hope the roads don't freeze over night or I am skuppered!!
Right... I am off to parouse the daily snail before hitting the road. See you all tomorrow...
