  • Oh and AutumnLeaf I am curious now as to what you get done to your hair for £90? I cut my own ( not always recommended) and dye my own as well..
And Fyggy for this year perhaps invest in a good fake one that will do for a good few years but I know what you mean about a real tree - they are amazing...But the parentals have had a hand-me-down tree and it does the job..

  • For £90 I get an all over tint, cut and blow dry. It takes about 3 hours in all because I have super thick hair and it's past my shoulders. I also get a drink and a read of some magazines but that's about it! Hence the :o I'm not sure I'd cut it myself but I wonder about dyeing it as Calling14 suggested. I had mixed results with this in the past - it got really dry and frizzy although I wonder if home colouring monthly + a good conditioning treatment + regular cuts might be better?

No kids, outgoings all covered and savings to cover emergencies so as I said, I can afford it but I think the fact that I'm really perturbed by the price tag suggests I should look for other options. I have down shifted before. This is probably not the time to tell you all about my [now defeated!] regular blow dry habit...

Thanks to FYggy for understanding my distinctly first world problem.

Normally, we go to our local garden centre and buy a real one. We have the decs and stand. Last year we got a 6ft rather than 8ft. But it's still £60-80 (I forget exact figure). Now wondering if we should get a fake one? Can we justify paying that much for something that we will be taking to the tip a month later?

I got a 6ft slim green fake tree from B+Q last year and I really like it. I was always a real tree person but now you can get good looking for less than the money for a real one.

  • Hi All

Just a quick update from my rant yesterday. Well it took till this morning to really tell him what was what and surprise, surprise I was told I was over-reacting. I have told him no more homemade baking as I am done. He says that is a real shame and is disappointed I will not bake him cakes e.t.c anymore. We have left it as that and he has not phoned me at all today.

I need to stick to my guns on this - I always give in to him. I must be strong - I do feel better getting it off my chest now, as it's not the first time he has done this.

Had DS home today as school was closed. Apparently the heating is broken. Went into town to get some milk as OH decided to drink a lot of milk over the weekend.
  • MrsBB - well done on sticking ot your guns!!! Let's see if he brings you home something floral in a bouquet to say sorry...

You need to be strong on this mrsbrownbear. You are completely right in that he needs to appreciate you more, especially since you are catering to his needs and not your own (judging but what you are saying, I believe it is his allergy and not yours).
    Hugs.

I have had a fake xmas tree for about ten years now and it still looks brilliant. I do buy lights more often although the current set (a very pretty blue) has lasted about four years so far.
    :)

I fell asleep reading this last night so I apologise for that. It wasn't cause it was boring, it was just cause work was really tiring.
    :o

So... I now have 9 spend free days.
    :j

Still haven't decluttered... been far too lazy this month so far. So... will have to work on that.
    :(

Hope everyone has a great day.
    Hugs.

  • Hello

Great to read how everyone is doing.

    I am declaring SFD no 7 :j

We have an artificial Christmas tree which I love. It is a 6ft slim black one which I got in the sale a few years back. In fact my mum bought it for me for Christmas! You could get a really nice one this year for the price of a real one and then next year you won't have to spend anything :)

As for hair, I used to have mine cut and coloured with foils for about £70-80 but really couldn't justify it. For a bit I used to dye it myself at home and then just have it cut and a few foils at the hairdressers which brought it down to £50 ish every 8 weeks plus £10 for dye.

Now I am just have a cut and blow dry which is about £20-30 depending where I go and then colour it myself about once a month at £5 a go. I can live without having my hair 2 colours! I am not very loyal either and the hairdresser I used to really like to and go to when I could afford her has stopped doing it. Instead, I am inclined to go where groupon takes me which brings the price down :T

    :p

I'm jealous that he can get things on prescription! I would have to pay for each item separately for me! That's why I decided at the start just to eat differently, and go more for the 'meat and 2 veg' approach. DD gets stuff on presc as she's a littl'un, but only likes the bread! I do get other stuff for baking, so I admit I get to enjoy the goodies she provides!

Hey, can you not get a prepayment card? I pay £10.40 a month for the card and can get all my prescriptions (gf or otherwise) for free. I usually get 10+ gf items a month so it's less than £1 each.
