Happy 1st Day Everyone...but more importantly- HAPPY FRIDAY!! :j

Great to see so much chatter. I love reading what you all get up to and hearing about everyone's journeys and adventures!

Right stats are as follows for this month:

    SFD's-1/25 SFD's
    Fuel- £20.01 (Gah at that 1p!)/ £80.10
    Food Bank- £0/£3
    Charity- 0/20 Items
    Make £80- £0/£80
Misc- £25 - £0/£25 (Includes toiletries, Christmas crafty bits and outing money)

I always eat a packed lunch, or eat from home on the days I work from home so I do not track packed lunches or require the emergency lunch money- saves me one less thing to track. :)

My outing will possibly be tomorrow- I am going to try and get out of it. As it is just a quick drink at a pub with friends while we are waiting for some other friends, before then going to theirs for the evening. We're all bringing stuff that we've baked and watching DVDs together. I may try and suggest meeting at my OH's for a drink instead, before we go to our other friends...see how this goes.

I've no more weddings this year, no Birthdays this month, so no big expenses or upcycling dresses to worry about :)

I'm out on Tuesday to see local fireworks in our town. Will park at a friends, so won't have to pay for parking, and watch fireworks from outside the park (no paying for a ticket) and take hot chocolate and tea in flasks to get us through the eve. So it should be a free eve out! :D

Hoping to do lots more geocaching this month as well- it is so much fun, free and a great way to spend time with friends. I've got several friends hooked so now there is always someone I can go treasure hunting with! :T

Hope you all have a great weekend! Be Good! :A

  • Budgets are set!

Hello NOvember....is it wrong to be so excited that this one is tougher than the October Awakening!

So, my NOvember budgets and tallys are:
    Food £150
    Petrol £80
    Entertainment £80
    Clothes £20
    Medical £20

    Declutter 20 things
    Make £80
    Packed lunches 21

Today was a spend day, supermarket spending. I'm pretty sure I've got more than enough to last me at least two weeks so that's how i'm hoping to get the SFD's in. Did my food donation today too. My local tescimos had a bin for overseas soldiers so the bits and bobs have gone in there.

Did have a mini fail though. Was looking for my new favourite beans and meatfree sausages, found them by picking up a can. Picked up five more. Got home, unpacked to find the other five are meat sausages, so they will have to be exchanged.

I'm paying £450 off my credit card as I type and will update that when it clears. I'm only leaving a little buffer in my account as a just in case.

Weekend will be a SF one, because it has to, and I don't need to spend any money.

Debt Free Date Friday 29th March 2014 :j
  • Good evening all,

SFD number 1 complete. 1 children's activity paid out of budget for & formula for DD which was paid for from last month so all good. Will be a spend day tomorrow as need to do food shop, get petrol, get fabric & accessories for dressmaking course & dinner out with DH all budgeted for :D. Will probably do foodbank donation as well while I'm at the supermarket. Also I managed to save my SFD even though I bought some xmas gifts at playgroup this morning. The lady selling them said I could ring her tomorrow with payment as I hadn't brought my card & she didn't want me to miss out :j

    1/25 SFDs
    £0/£3 foodbank
    £31.07/£110 petrol
    0/20 declutter
    £0/£80 to make
    £0/£5 emergency
    £0/£45 xmas/birthdays
    TOTAL DEBT £12,212.46/£2000 paid off
    Debt Free Goal September 2017
    #106 Emergency Fund £482.53/£1000
  • Today I made the final payment, leaving the path clear to tackle the remaining debt with a 2 month head start

That's amazing Siouxsie32, well done for the hard work :T:j:T
@shyspender I'm paying £450 off my credit card as I type and will update that when it clears. I'm only leaving a little buffer in my account as a just in case.

I've done exactly the same, part of a previous challenge was to overpay at the beginning of the month and survive the next 4 weeks! Normally I sit on my overpayment all month 'just in case' and it slowly dwindles. So this month I've bitten the bullet and done it straight away, it feels so good to see the CC come down that bit more. Slightly worrying that I've only got a £60 buffer between us and a bad choice but no-one said it was going to be easy :p

    My totals so far are.....

    SFD…………….………….1/25
    Food........................£56.80/£150
    Petrol.......................£110/£160
    Entertainment...........£16.97/£100
    Food Bank………...…..£0/£3
    Going Out…………..……0/1
    Lunch to Work…….……1/18
    20 Item Decluttered.……….0/20
    Make £80………………£0/£80

I get paid on the 28th of every month so have already shopped and done a huge amount of batch cooking. I have planned every step of the first 2 weeks so am hoping to only have one spend day (and I begrudge that!!). I have even worked out our mileage and set budgets for how much we can travel on work days and days off, I think I may have latent OCD but at least it's for money saving I suppose :D

Right then here's to a positive start to the challenge everyone

  • Hi all!
Ooh this is exciting! I was feeling a bit glum about money and stuff this morning but cheered up thinking of this challenge. Our individual debt-busting journeys can feel so long, it's nice to have some support along the way. Okay, here's my summary:

    Food 0 / 300
    Petrol 0 / 250.00
    Local food bank 0 / 3.00
    SFD 1 / 25
    Declutter 3 / 20
    Extra money earned/made 0 / 80.00
    Christmas shopping 0/200
    Outing 0/12
    Birthday gift for brother 0/20

I'm currently at home on maternity leave so don't take a lunch to work at the moment, however, I will take a lunch whenever I leave the house to prevent hunger brining me to buy when out and about with baby.

My biggest concern for this month is the SFD as this means I can only do my shopping on one day of the week and I have been buying 'little and often' to fit in the pram (so not using the car). Local shop is not far though and petrol cost should be negligible - probably saving anyway as I have been tempted to buy. Planning will be key for me during this challenge!

Just to let you all know, I'm not in UK (moved abroad with family for work) so some of my bargains etc may not make sense but I will convert my sums to pounds so it all makes sense. As I'm abroad I won't be able to

I've made a start in my de-cluttering today by giving away my old kitchen machine, food processor and blender (I was given a fab kitchen machine, birthday - big one - and Christmas gift). So that is space for my new machine and a nice warm feeling of having helped someone else.

Not a bad start to the challenge I feel :T Good luck everyone!
Finally had my eyes opened and I am ready to tackle my debts!
    Janus Illusion challenge #87
    Total CC & overdraft: £5827, planned DFD= 31.12.14
  • Oops sorry, part of post missing. I was trying to say that as I'm abroad I can't donate to UK food bank via direct donation. There are no food banks where I am (Scandinavia). May I donate the money online instead? I know the money isn't the point of the exercise Ninja, but I don't want to not comply by the rules either.

Erm... I know it isn't really directly related to this thread but I am a wee bit nervous about starting a new thread in the shopping section. (I am a bit of a nervous nelly).

Has anyone ever used morrisons butcher counter?? I was looking online and they have like a virtual butcher counter thing (see below) where you can type in how much you want and they will price it up for you. Has anyone gone into the store with the prices and gotten the same food for the same cost??

    http://www.morrisons.co.uk/Market-Street/Butcher/Beef/Beef-Mince/Butchers-Lean-Mince/

Basically, the mince and other stuff seems a reasonable price for a decent quality but I don't want to go thinking I will get 1kg for a fiver and then find they charge me eight pounds instead.
    :undecided

Sorry, like I said it's a bit daft but I am just not sure. Thanks for any help in advance.
    Hugs.

p.s: planned spend day tomorrow. one-a-week is the aim.

    Evening everyone,

November has started and my budgets are very much dipped in to already :( pay day was the 25th so i start my budgets then. Did a big shop last sunday, and today needed milk so i bought 8 pints, added to the two ive already got, which all go out of date on the 9th nov. I also bought some fruit, and more flour for making bread in the new machine, so unless something crops up then theres no reason to spend.
Dd has a birthday party tomorrow, so i bought a present last week.
In laws were very kind today and doubled up their t3sc0 vouchers into baby vouchers and gave them to us :) so i have £20 worth of baby items for free! Still have probably enough wipes and nappies for the month, so ill keep them until i need them, or stock up now amd store them.
Going to watch fireworks tomorrow, but il's house backs onto playing field :) so we'll b stood in their garden, or back bedroom, and watch from there, and eat the hot dogs theyre making us!

Had an item finishing on 3-b4y earlier, which sold for £5.50, so my extra money making has begun..... Need to take pics and sell some bits tomorrow, and plan for the weekend is to sort the garage, and send girls clothes to charity shop, as new baby dragon was a boy. If theres anything half decent ill e-b4y it but tbh i think most is worthless.
I also spotted a big box of books in the garage, all unread and given to me and forgotten about. Im going to have a nose through and read and get rid.

Also gave 4 maternity tops to sil so thats 4/20 decluttering!

Anyway im rambling on, i shall update my sig tomorrow as im tired now. Good luck everyone for the month xx
Still here..... but working on that!
